Discussion: Team 1 Sports Batting Gloves

I purchased a pair of the Team 1 Sports batting gloves before the SSUSA Tournament of Champions in Florida and have to say that I'm very pleased with the gloves. Since purchasing the gloves, I've played in the TOC, Spring National, Atlantic Coast Championship and sever Florida Half Century events, not to mention quite a few BP sessions, with the gloves showing little wear and tear on the gloves.

The gloves I had prior to these tore where the elastic band around the wrist is sewn to the leather after just two tournaments. Most of the gloves I get seem to do that but so far the Team 1 gloves have held up even when dripping wet from sweat.

I would highly recommend the gloves.

Hey Mike, I also played there in '88, '89 and '90 in the Super Open Championship with Bell Corp. It was always a great time and you're right, the wind really blows there. It seemed like we would get through a couple games in the winners bracket but just couldn't get over the hump.

Wasn't this were the alledged "random steroid testing" first took place?

Sorry I missed out on all the heat AT. But if I didn't get part of my honey-do list knocked out I might be missing some tournaments. Just sayin'

Discussion: Moving to Major Plus

Webbie25,

Congratulations on your move to Major+. I think you'll find playing at that level a rewarding experience.

With any luck, more players will take the plunge and move up to Major+.

Abbey12,

If I remember correctly, Pasco is the next county north of Hillsboro. I don't know of any teams up that way right off hand, but Florida Half Century will be back in Tampa in August. I believe the dates are August 18 & 19.

FHC also has a web site and message board. To check it out, go to www.fhcsoftball.org. It's not bad softball but it's more like a league then a tournament. Instead of playing 1 game a week, you play 4 games over a 2 day period. It has it's pros and cons.

Yesterday the bulletinboard at the new site reached a minor milestone by having it's 100th member register. Thank you Weppin.

As a small token of our appreciation, I sent Weppin an email requesting some information so that I could send them a pair of batting gloves courtesy of Team 1 Sports.

If Kim wacked you, it's probably a regular concussion because she's had plenty of practice wacking you by now.

Slowest Pitch - it wasn't just senior softball that was that way.

I can remember many tournaments in the 80's that were just tournaments. Teams paid their entry fee and you played whoever showed up in your bracket. One game you may be playing a team that was terrible and the next game you could be playing one of the big boys. The thing was, back then you didn't have to determine your classification until mid June there weren't any "A", "B", or "C" tournaments until after the classification deadline.

But I think if you tried to do this today you'd lose quite a few of the lower teams. And to be honest with you I don't think too many of the upper teams would enjoy beating up on a lower team.

Do we need classifications - yes I think we do. But where do you create the dividing line. That's the tough question.

Mr. Manassas,

Do you know if ENR beat Mid-Atlantic in the finals of the winners bracket?

I don't know Donnie. We won the Major+, ENR and Mid-Atlantic were playing in the finals of the Major winners bracket, and the Maryland Cougars and Phoenix Tube were in the finals of the AAA winners bracket.

Discussion: Sensitivity To Veterans

Everyone has some good points here.

I'm a 26 year veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard and joined at the very end of Vietnam. Luckily I didn't have to go. I also served during our more recent wars.

In my opinion, everyone should be trying to buy AMERICAN. Every time a product, any product, is bought from a foreign country (Mexico, China, Vietnam, Iraq) we're putting money into someone else's pocket. I'd much rather keep an American employed then someone in another country - any country.

Just my opinion guys.

Because we're a Major+ team and we're allowed to have one player outside of Florida as long as they're east of the Mississippi.
