Dec. 21 GI Men's 60 228 posts | I just wanted to wish you all well for this next year of playing softball together. Like my students at school I see that it is impossible to get everyone happy or on the same page. With that I will tell you something that should make all happy this year. With the new Rule about pitchers wearing masks etc. many of you will no longer have to feel the distraction of looking at this mug of mine that God has graced me with. This past year has been a positive one for many here on this site but we also should look back and remember those friends of ours who Have died and thru injury had to give up the game. I think that each of us are so blessed that as we reach an older age that we can continue to play a little BOYS game. I just wish I still had that little Boys speed and recovery time. I was trying to think of something funny to say for the 12 days of Christmas with all these topics that are up right now. I guess one could be for Webbie to have one new knee on the 1st day. I do hear that Cisco from AZ 60's team is doing better and may be out of hospital. I have always considered him and Kenney from Rouge to be the best leadoff hitters I have pitched to. I would close by saying remember to have fun this year and be thankful that we can be part of a special group that gets to play beyound our youth. Time is different for each of us. One of my 6th grade students recently told me that he would invite me to his graduation from High school in 6 years but there would be a good chance I would be dead by then. Kids gotta their spirit . Same goes to all of you who still are involved with the game. Bless each of you and please remember to keep your love of the game and each other. This world is not my home I am just passing through. Dec. 22 GI Men's 60 228 posts | Hey Webbie I have a present for you. My first Helmet and mask that I used against you guys. You laughed at me when My helmet slipped over my eyes on a infield flyball I lost it and it dropped in for a single. I will even sign it for you.Might be worth something if I make it to Hall of LAME. HA. Big Ron D. so good to see you back on the field two weeks ago in Tucson. Last I have to thank Terry Fran, Dave and George, We may not always agree with you but I for one am so thankful to still be on the field at this age. Fran you have been my nurse on several line drives and I cannot say enough of your guys kindness to me to help with the kids at Sunshine Acres Childrens Home. Again bless you all and for the 12th Day of Christmas I would have to add 12 more seconds around basepaths because of extra 5 feet per bag, Ha, with me a may be a minute. Be safe out there, Hugs GI |

Dec. 24 GI Men's 60 228 posts | Roger those are wonderful memorys. You did a great job at helping the community youth who had got into trouble.. Roger our reward comes when we see these young ones grow up and become successful. Some have some have not BUT EVERYONE of them knew we cared for them and wanted the best for their life. We planted a seed that's the best we can do. Roger hope I run into you again soon. Played softball with your younger Pal Ken Paddia in Tucson couple of weeks ago. He is still hitting the ball hard and continues also to work with kids. Remember the movie , It's a Wonderful Life, At the end in the book Clarence wrote, No one who has FRIENDS IS A FAILURE. Senior softball is helping us have new friendships. Thanks for note. GI |
