Oct. 14 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | The marines have it right. In order to get the job done all you need is a few good men. Men like Tator and Stoney and Nancy and the Wood to get involved, to make it personal, a commitment that won't be realized till we get 'er done. Help us. Help all of us. Start now, whatever it takes, no more illegal bats. Whatever you do, i.e. petition, email, talk, vote. think, confront, whatever, are ALL GOOD. We'll get there only when/after we make a commitment to get rid of 'em. Let's be the example, set the example for all softball and the day will come soon, when we can say we don't have 'em, we don't use 'em, we don't tolerate them or the cheaters who do. I'm with Tator. I swear I will never use or support anyone using an illegal/altered bat. I will report you, confront you, talk about you... I'll do whatever I can to stop you and expose you, if I find you using an illegal/altered bat with me or against me. There, that wasn't so hard, after all. What do you say? |
Oct. 14 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | JOE: IT'S TOO LATE. PERIOD. The NASF, is hold' it's World in Vegas today. I saw 8, almost brand new FREAKS. I saw several pro's swing their bats. When the pro's were out of H. R.s, they pulled out another bat. It appears that 90% of these teams has illegal bats. One of these pro's was swing' a 30 oz bat. This bat had a 9 oz, end load. I compaired that bat w/ my NRG-600, MAX LOAD. I could tell or fell no diff'. I talked to several teams,Tx., Oh., Cal., & all said that illegals bats were ramped. One Cal, player, told me about a player that has a machine shop. This person, is shaving bats & install' a titainum sleeve into bats. I heard the same thing from other players. Bat doc's r painting bats & plac' decals on these bats & then add a few clear coats. TIME $ WOODEN BATS:: The STONEMAN......... NO I have not had a JACK, TODAY. |
Oct. 15 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Stoneman: we can do it; it is never too late. We are getting a response from men & women of HONOR who love the game so much & it is their past time, that they will NEVER cheat. Come on; you guys, especially the ones that have e-mailed me & talked to me about how I can get a new bat from you, but pay $80 more & get it specially reloaded to suit my swing; just change, just change & become an example not a part of the satistics of the alteration committee. Tell all the guys that you DO NOT alter bats any more. Stand up & be a man!!! Then, when you stand & receive that All-Tourney Trophy or are fortunate enough to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, NO ONE can say," Shucks, he never would have won anything if he had of used a legal bat." Look at that man in the mirror & promise yourself, I will not cheat again. Tater50 John W. Hayes JAH Masters |
Oct. 15 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | In 05', I could barely walk due to a knee problem; but I did not buy an altered bat; but I played all year. I had knee surgery & anyone who played w/me in 06' knew that I did not contribute very much; sometimes I rode the bench & coachd the bases, but I did not buy an altered bat. My shots were falling 50-60' less than I had hit with healthier legs, but I did not buy or use an altered bat. I did not win ONE SINGLE All-Tourney Trophy, something that had not happened since I started playing in 1999. With all that going on: I still looked in the mirror & said, hit the weights, you will NEVER use altered equipment. If I can do it, so can you. I can not run or play defense like a lot of guys can, & there is no way I can cheat to improve myself in that area & I will not anyway; I will hit the weights. So, if you cannot hit the long ball, use your defense, speed & be the best base hitter you can be; you do not need to alter your bat. Tater50 John W. Hayes JAH Masters |
Oct. 15 armiho211 Men's 70 449 posts | HEY STONE, how difficult would it be for any bat company to produce a bat that would be a complete mold job, in other words no glued on end caps on the heavy end, the knob i imagine can be made the same way. this would make it difficult for any bat doctor to get into the bat from either end without being obvious that the bat has been tampered with. maybe the economics would be too expensive as retooling would have to be involved. is this too simple ? thanks, frank |
Oct. 15 batguyaz 134 posts | I was told the other day that many of the new bats will have tamper proof caps. I think the Combat and Rip It already have them. |
Oct. 15 Gene22 Men's 55 78 posts | I was at a Turkey Tourney today. I talked to 3 players that were very proud to display and talk about there New Altered Bats. I am sorry that I did not say anything to them, or to the ASA rep that was there, so from this day foward............ I'm with Tator. I swear I will never use or support anyone using an illegal/altered bat. I will report you, confront you, talk about you... I'll do whatever I can to stop you and expose you, if I find you using an illegal/altered bat with me or against me. Gene D. Riddlebaugh Ohio Silverado # 22 Dayton, Ohio |
Oct. 15 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Thanks for taking a stand Gene: as people view this board & watch the different ballplayers that are putting their name for the SS World to see; they will think it over & join up onto the HONOR system. Remember: the next guy that gets hits by an altered bat could be your friend or could be you!!! Tater50 John W. Hayes JAH Masters |
Oct. 16 Rookie 50 5 posts | Instead of changing rules, just get rid of the composites. Moving the rubber back, moving the bases back, penalty for hitting pitchers, bat testing this is all due to the plastic bats. I"m sure no one would stop playing the sport if metal bats were the only thing legal. the plastics have changed our game dramaticaly, and now were changing the rules to accomadate these bats. The game would be just as fun and much safer with out these wonder bats. And yes I know metal bats can be altered also, but with the same results. I know cheaters will always find a way to get and advantage., but an altered metal bat is no where near a altered plastic bat. Rookie 50 |
Oct. 16 Walkoff 8 posts | I believe that the PST, a non composite bat, was a popular bat to shave. I have also been told that if someone is using a PST in this day and time that it most likely has been shaved. Think about it, how many major players sponsored by Worth do you see using a PST? Getting rid of composites won't fix the problem. |
Oct. 16 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | To the 72 anonymous viewers @ 6:21 ESDT. Hey, there has got to be some of you that agree with Einstein, Stoneman, Nancy, Gene & myself about these altered bats; sign in & give us some support. We have the whole winter to get a gang of HONORABLE signtures. Tater50 John W. Hayes JAH Masters |
Oct. 16 Gary Heifner 248 posts | Back in the 70s and early 80s a big HR team out of northern Illinois would cut off the top of a metal bat, place tennis balls or super balls in the barrell and weld the top back on. They would also add two inches to the length for 36 inches. When I called them on it in a big tourney, they called me all kinds of names as the ump carried the bats away. Would one of the cheaters please explain to me why you need a loaded bat when seniors can use the U2. I don't agree with banning composites. Maybe allow only one HR at all levels of senior ball and then singles. Make the use of a loaded bat not worth the $$$$ to alter it. Now, what will stop this. As I have said recently several times in replies, LIFETIME ban in all senior organizations for a player caught with an altered bat. How about adding a one or two year ban on the manager and teammates of that player in the tourney he is caught. This might encourage teams to police themselves. It will not stop until the penalities are devasting. |
Oct. 16 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | As I'm beginning to see how rampant is the use of dangerous altered/illegal bats I realize you are right, Gary. Lifetime bans from all Associations. Big fines. Report to Bat Companies for infringement suits. Ostracization via publication and entrance into a lifetime Hallof Shame. |
Oct. 16 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | Armiho211: FRANK, good queston. I believe this has been done in the past & there r a few still being made. MIKEN'S R 2 pieces. (( That is, if, one does not count the pin in the Knob.)) One reason for an END PLUG, is to manuf' bats w/ diff.' weighs (( 26 oz, 27 oz, etc. )). Frank, do u want to go back to Single Walls? I have been told, but, several Easton Reps, players, & an ISA, U.I.C., that if, an Easton bats is shaved, the Easton MFG's End Cap, will not fit, set. This is one way to tell if, an Easton bat has been made ILLEGAL. A MIKEN REP & a "Big Shot", told me that the New Miken's Bats END CAPS, were changed to make tampering harder. The 'Old" MIKEN'S, had that concaved smoothed CAP. WALK OFF: 2 great hitters, that use the PST'S. Don C., of TRC & Jerry C., of Thomas Eng. I am sure that there r more. Neither of these men need ILLEGAL BATS. thes men have been swing ' the PST's 4 several yrs. Don, has over 60 Worlds & Jerry, has over 50 Worlds. |
Oct. 17 Walkoff 8 posts | Stoney, it is odd that many "big hitters" are using altered bats. Just because they can crush it doesn't mean they aren't using altered bats. I would guess that percentage-wise this type of hitters is the biggest class of "cheaters". This is only a guess as I don't have any stats to back this up. One more thing Stoney, when discussing this subject besure you use the word altered, not illegal. |
Oct. 17 STONEMAN Men's 50 535 posts | GARY19:: Why, move the bases back. The older groups have a hard time w/ 65' bases. In NSA, the bases r 70'. Talk to the older SENIOR & see what their feeling r on 70 feet bases. Move the Rubber back? Pitchers will have a harded time throw' strikes. What's wrong w/ the 50' to 55' pitching Area? @ 55', the ball will have to have a BBS of over 92 MPH, to go 55' in 0.4 of a second. Wonder Bats & Wonderful Balls? Metal bats, will still get Altered & bats will be made ILLEGAL. Again, there is a diff.' of too much tape & shaving. POWERHOUSE, before they were "forced" out of business, made a Players Bat. This bat tested out @ 1.43 BPF & higher. Good THINKING, ROOKIE & GARY19. The STONEMAN............OUT |
Oct. 17 Mighty Grip Men's 55 34 posts | What if a bat had a tamper proof cap, would that be an answer ?? |
