DoublePlay 55 softball team dissolves
Friends and teammates past and present, I have been ask by Paul and Anna Smit to post the following regarding DoublePlay 55 Softball Team:
-----------------------------------------------

"After Thoughtful Consideration and many hours of Tears and Conversation, Paul and I have decided to Disolve the Doubleplay Team, Effective Immediately.

We have had an extremely successful 12 year run and have Great Memories and Hardware to Show for it !!

We are Exhausted from the Emotional and Financial Drain of Running a "Pay as you Go" Team .
We do have other commitments and Issues away from Softball that we would like to Focus on.

A written Release will not be Necessary, I've already taken the first step in contacting SSUSA and will follow thru first thing tomorrow morning . All of you will then be available to play with a new team Immediately.

We Wish you Great Success and Happiness on and off the Field."

Anna and Paul
------------------------------------------------
As you may know this was a very difficult decision for my good friends. I also wish my teammates (past and present) all the best. I have very much enjoyed playing with everyone of you!

Thank You all!.../Wayne Wilcox

Hey Bruster55,
Way to let the dust settle before jumping on an opportunity, just kidding but a little serious at the same time.

On a personal note. I'm sorry to hear about the dissolution of the Double Play Classic team. I've competed against fhem for the better part of seven years, and am friendly with many if not all the players from this very successful group. While our respective teams may have had our issues and disagreements from time to time, understand that we always respected you guys. Sometimes you've got to carry a little dislike for the team you want to beat. Much respect and best of luck to all of you, wherever that leads you.

Anna & Paul, sorry to hear that you are folding Doubleplay. You were the only Major Team that welcomed our Team Git-R-Done to the 55 Majors. We never could beat you guys, too tough. We also appreciate that in a sportsmanship way,you suggested that we asked to be dropped back to AAA. At the end of the year we were moved to AAA, but too late, we could not get enough 55 Player's to keep active. So it goes. All the best to you both and your future endeavors.

I have played for Double Play for Several years and enjoyed all my time with them. I fully support Paul and Anna's decision to do what is best for them at this time.
i would also like to let everybody know that most of the players are still committed to having a team for the rest of this year. We are looking for a few players to round out our roster. Anyone interested in playing with us can contact me at erhoads@caltech.edu or 626 890 3280. We plan to be back playing as soon as possible Thanks Ed

I agree with Bruster55 trying to help some players find clubs. The DP team has some very good players and I really doubt that they all are going to retire from the field.
I wish you all good luck.
