Scoring line
Situation: Less than two outs, runner coming home stops before commit line, catcher has ball. Catcher goes to tag runner and right before contact runner crosses commit line and is tagged by catcher. By rule, runner is safe. Must he cross scoring line to score? Had situation and runner knew he was safe so he just went into dugout without crossing scoring line.

That is correct. If runner is tagged after they cross the commit line they are automatically safe and do not have to cross scoring line or second home plate.
