Discussion: Hitting a pitch that bounces on the plate
There have been a few times when my first strike I take hits the front of the plate and bounces straight up and I have jokingly taken a swing after it hits the plate and intentionally miss the ball. If the ball hit the front of the plate with 2 strikes and bounced up, if I swung and hit the ball would it be in play or is it strike 3.
§7.4 • STRIKE CALLED BY UMPIRE

Any pitched ball that hits the ground or strike mat cannot be legally swung at by the batter. NOTE: If the batter swings and misses the pitch prior to the ball hitting the plate or mat it is a strike. EFFECT: The ball is dead.

1jonsey ... We made it as easy as we could: "..Any pitched ball that hits the ground or strike mat... ...
