Understood, the call should be no pitch and if batter swings the count remains the same. Correct? Ok, how many times can a pitcher do this, and when and if are there any consequences for his actions? thank you. |
May 3, 2021 Turning2 Men's 70 204 posts | 6.11(1) • PENALTY FOR ILLEGAL PITCHES Any infraction of §6.3 through §6.10 is an illegal pitch. A ball shall be called on the batter. Runners may not advance. EXCEPTION: If a batter swings at any illegal pitch, it is nullified and the result of the play stands. Failure to come to a complete stop (6.4.c) prior to releasing a pitch should be immediately called an illegal pitch per above paragraph 6.11(1), ball is added to the pitch count. I see no reference to number of instances, so i think that a good umpire would simply continue to call a ball on the batter and if I were umpiring i would explain completely the reason for the call in hopes that the pitcher could amend his delivery to properly adhere to the SSUSA rules. |
