HOW GOOD of BATs? 2.) HOW GOOD of BALLs? SENIOR BATs......... I am AGANIST. 4 me, a 1.20 BPF, BAT is GOOD ENOUGH. GOOD BALLs, I am 4. A 50 cor BALL w/ A 375 comp. THIS WOULD b an ALL WEATHER BALL. I WOULD LIKE 2 c, THE 52 cor BALL, w/ a 350 comp USED, in SENIOR BALL. BUT, HERE is THE TRADE off. If, THE comp is OVER 325, HOW HIGH WILL THE SEVERITY INDEX (SI), b? WILL THE SI, EXCEED 1200? KEVIN, WILL NOT MAKE THIS BALL. WHY? THERE is no MARKET 4 THE BALL. HAS SPA or SS-USA, ASKED 4 THIS BALL? NO. 4 OTHERs, SENIORs, THEY WANT & do NEED a U-2, w/ a GOOD BALL. TEST FROM THIS PAST JUNE, in St. LOUIS, SHOWs THAT THE U-2, HITs THE PRESENT DAY 40 & 44 cor BALL w/ a 375 comp; 20 MPH FASTER. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN in REAL LIFE? THAT in .40' of a SEC, THE PRESENT 44 / 375 SOFTBALLs TRAVEL 12' FASTER. In REAL LIFE TIME.... a BALL HIT @ 85.5 MPH, WILL TRAVEL 50' in .40' of a SEC. THE U-2, ALLOWS THIS SAME BALL 2 TRAVEL 62' in .40' of a SEC. SENIORs, NEED .428' of a SEC 2 REACT. SENIORs r OLDER, & SENIORs REACTION TIME is SLOWER. THE .40' of a SEC, REACTION TIME is for 17 to 22 yr OLDs. PLAYERs HAVE GROWN USE 2 HIT' HRs & WANT 2 KEEP, THE PRESENT BAT & BALL COMBO. OF, PLAY BACK FARTHER; MORE HITs & a HIGHER BA. I BELIEVE, THAT in MAJOR PLUS.......... OVER 20 % of THESE PLAYERs r us' ALTERED BATs. ( ROLLED or SHAVED. ) FACTs: On THE 52 cor BALL 1.) THE BAT - BALL SOUND, is DIFFERENT. 2.) THE BAT - BALL FEEL, is ALSO DIFFERENT. 3.) THE LOWEST BAT SPEED, THAT HIT a HR on a 300' FIELD WAS 72 MPH. US' THE 44 /375 BALL, LOWEST BAT SPEED in WHICH a HR WAS HIT; 84 MPH. SEVERAL of THE BIG NAMEs HAVE HIT THE 52 cor BALL w/ a 275 comp. THESE MEN HATED THE SOUND & FEEL of THE BALL OFF THEIR BATs. BUT, AFTER HIT' THE 52 BALL, 4 a WHILE, THEY STARTED 2 LIKE THE BALL. THE MEN WERE @ THE DISNEY PARK in FLA. THE DAY b 4 THE BIG EVENT, DISNEY COMPLEX, ALLOWED THE PLAYERs 2 HIT THE GAME BALL. THAT WOULD b THE 52 cor BALL. 3 PLAYERs WERE CONSIST LY HIT' THE BALL OUT of THE BASEBALL PARK. 1 PLAYER, WAS HIT' THE BALL, 30' up on THE SCORE BOARD. THE SCORE BOARD, is 410', FROM HOME PLATE. AFTER THIS HIT' SESSION, THESE 3 MEN, ADMITTED THAT THE 52 cor BALL WAS a GREAT BALL. ALSO, DUR' THIS EVENT, THE 'B' & or PLAYERs DID LIKE THE BALL. WALLACE, ADMITTED, THAT @ 1st, he THOUGHT THAT THE 52 cor BALL SUCKED. ONLY PROBLEM........ WAS 2 GET OVER THE SOUND of THE BALL OFF THE BAT & THE FEEL of THE BALL, on THE BAT. HERE IS ANOTHER FACT......... REC PLAYERs GET MORE BBS THAN ADVANCE PLAYERs, WHEN us' THE U-2. REC PLAYERs THAT SWING a BAT in THE LOW to MID 70's, GET 20 to 25 MPH FASTER BBS, w/ THE U-2. HALL, DeNORDEE, CRIMES, CARTER, MACENKO, WALLACE, etc, ONLY GET 2-3 MPH FASTER BAT SPEED w/ a U-2. THE UPPER LEVEL PLAYERs CAN HIT THEIR USSSA BATs as FAR as THE U-2. BUT, THESE PLAYERs HIT MORE CONSISTENTLY, w/ THE U-2. HOW SAFE is a 50 cor 375 comp, MCT BALL? WHAT is IT's S.I.? THE 52 cor BALL HAS a S.I. of ONLY 466. THE TRUMP SS-USA, 44 / 375 BALL HAS a S.I. of 1980. REMEMBER, a S.I., of OVER 1200 CAN CAUSE SERVER or DEATH 2 HUMANs. THAT 52 cor BALL, WILL STOP THE BAT Docs. U ASK HOW? THIS MAY TAKE SOME TIME , 4 THESE KNOCK HEADs 2 WAKE up! HERE is HOW. THE ASA, 1.20 BPF / U-TRIP, & SENIOR BATs, ALL HIT THE 52 / 275 w/ in 2-3 MPH. EVEN THE BIG BOYS, ONLY HIT THE U-2 w/ THE 52 BALL, ONLY 2-3 MPH FASTER, THAN THERE U-TRIP BATs. THE 52 cor BALL WILL HELP THE OLDER or REC PLAYERs. REC PLAYERs r BATTERs THAT do NOT SWING THE BALL MUCH OVER 70 MPH. ONLY, in a FEW CASEs DID an OPEN or A PLAYER, EXCEEDED THE 98 MPH BPF. WHEN THESE PLAYERs SWING WERE AVE' TOGETHER, EVEN THE 1 s THAT DID EXCEED 100 MPH, THEIR AVE' BaT Speed, WAS STILL UNDER 98 MPH. DID NOT MATTER WHICH BATs WERE USED. (U-2; PST; MAYHAM; all 30 oz BATs.) ONLY in a FEW SWINGs , (THAT WOULD b 3-4 TIMEs) , DID an A or OPEN PLAYER, REACH Bat Speeds OVER 100 MPH. THEIR AVE' WAS STILL UNDER 98 MPH. Sooooooooooo, BOB, EVEN if, PLAYERs DID ROLL or SHAVE BATs, THESE ILLEGAL BATs WILL HAVE EVEN LESS EFFECT, THAN 2 DAYs SHAVED BAT / BALL COMBO. ALSO, I am TRY' 2 FIND OUT if THE 52 cor BALL is in USE, WILL ROLLED BATs LAST as LONG as a REG' BAT. PEOPLE, WHO HAVE THEIR BATs ROLL, STATE, THAT THE ROLLED BATS, ONLY LAST ABOUT 40 SWINGs, AFTER THAT BAT WAS ROLLED. I BELIEVE THAT THE 52 cor BALL, WILL BREAK ROLLED BATs, EVEN SOONER, THAN 40-50 SWINGS. |

Senior bats are the better bats, but U-trips are close. As you know Bob, there are many rolling, shaving and loading the bats on the boards. It will continue. |
| Nov. 1, 2009 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | That ball that Stoneman is talking about thru Mad Dog which is where the mad dog gets his best if not his only ideas was tested in Oakdale, California this year by 5 teams of seniors who resoundingly slammed it. A rep for MTC which had 3 of it's teams there said if SSUSA ever put that ball into play he would never put a team in another of it's tournaments. I guess that's all Terry needed to hear. More specifically, the comments ranged from the ball doesn't travel well when center struck, sounds feels and bounces unusually and awkwardly and to some, feels and hits lighter than normal like a cotton ball. No wonder 90 percent of the 5 teams there who played with the ball said they did NOT like it. The ball is a dog and not for guys who want to have fun playing and hitting softballs. It literally kills the game the great majority of us love to play. As safety is an issue there's better ways to make our game safer without killing it and neutering us. Changing to a safer ball is a good idea but it has to perform, feel and do better than that 275 x 52 sock. |

I tried to get some of those balls used at the "test" T, but was unable to so at the time. they were spoken for & all any extras. So I waited until after it was done and the reviews started...I decided not to try them. What ever ball used it still come down to both team will use it. But if other that what is said will be used, then it's a lie. They don't miss mark them unless asked to do so. But the HEAT |

| Nov. 2, 2009 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | #19,wouldn't go so far as to say that,LOL.this was one of many emails i got from the stoneman about bats and balls from studies done on them(by companies and such looking at safety concerns).he researches such things and is kind enough to pass them on to me and other people. how's it going down there in austin,we got a ton of rain up here in tyler.how's the team going,i'm looking for a 60 team for next,turn in jan. |

We've got some additional commitments from a few players who couldn't play for us this year...You would be a great fit for our team... Let me or #6 know what you would like to do. |

| Nov. 5, 2009 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I also agree 100%, as probably most everyone else here but.....remember back in the 70's, all the great team's player's abilities really stood out? We were excited just to qualify in the region so we could play against Howards, Dave Carroll and the rest. Now we find that most all senior associations have divided teams in to different age groups and skill levels. Tournaments now have limits on how many runs a team can score in an inning. No longer are we rewarded as much for our abilities! The new equipment is just another way to equalize the teams. I just had to vent, sorry. |

The better teams, like the Mavericks this year, tend to demonstrate their excellence under varied conditions. In NorCal, we put major and major plus teams together all the time and the best major plus teams tend to win the most but only because they play the best at the tournament and perform. A good bat/ball combo assures that MORE than the winners have a good to very good time at the tournaments. Bruce, in Vegas this year you and were talking how much fun it was and most everyone was having fun hitting good balls and not being penalized for it with HR's as outs. Needlessly restricting the ball as what's been happening for a while now will kill our game, decrease the fun of playing for the majority of players and neuter/neutralize many of our senior hitters. This is more a punishment than a solution to legit safety and cost issues. And Bruce, you're a monster with a bat. |
| Nov. 5, 2009 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Joe, up until 2008 our senior league allowed only ASA bats and Worth Gold Dots. In 2007, I believe I lead the league in hrs, hitting maybe 3 or 4. Only a total of 5 or 6 were hit total. In 2008 we voted to allow senior bats and Thunder Heat balls in our National league. This spring we had 47 hrs hit and this fall we had 51. These were hit by 20-25 individuals each season. We did have to purchase additional insurance. After our last game on Wednesday evening everyone expressed how much more fun we had with senior bats and good balls that with ASA bats and Gold Dots. Joe, great job in Vegas, your showed us how to hit opposite field hrs! |
| Nov. 6, 2009 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | bruce i agree with your back in the day comment,yes it was good to play by your ablity.we had many great players in the sacramento area where i played.i would think if your league had stuck with the ASA bats and got the MCT ball,your experience would of been better,kinda like CST.we all know that the worth gold dot at best is crap.i play in a league monday nite and hit a gold dot(fairly well used) dead on the screws and just clanged the fence with it.hit a brand new and just barely got it over the fence,oh i was using a well broke in(well over a 1000 hits on it)syn-2. |
| Nov. 6, 2009 butch17 Men's 55 412 posts | back in the day lets see One Howards bat 38 oz., metal spikes(no turf shoes), 60 foot bases, open fields and or 265' fences, blue dot balls or whatever they could find, unlimited arch. Next was all types of bats bases moved to 65', fences went to 275' or 280' very few open diamonds restricted arch. Next was 28 to 30 oz. bats gold dot balls. Then came the bat explosion t4000 balls and 300' fences molded cleats , turf shoes and home run limits. I in my opinion think that our game has changed a time or two. :) |
