| Jan. 8, 2013 Shark Men's 60 99 posts | SALT CITY CLASSIC 2013 CANCELED ATTENTION TEAM MANAGERS, THE SALT CITY CLASSIC SSUSA QUALIFIER IN JULY AT SYRACUSE, NY HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR 2013. IT IS STILL LISTED ON THE SSUSA TOURNAMENT LISTING AS SSUSA HAS NOT CHANGED IT YET. IT HAS BEEN CANCELED BECAUSE OF THE PERSON WHO RUNS HOPKINS RD COMPLEX HAS "DOUBLED" THE RENTAL FEE FOR THE USE OF THE 5 FIELDS FOR 2013. THEREFORE, I CANNOT EFFECTIVELY RUN THE TOURNEY IN 2013 BY TRYING TO ABSORB THIS KIND OF INCREASE IN MY BUDGET. I AM SORRY FOR THIS AS THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE 4TH YEAR OF RUNNING THE TOURNEY THAT AVERAGED 20 TEAMS ATTENDING THE TOURNEY EACH YEAR. I WANTED TO POST THIS ON THE MESSAGE BOARD SO THAT TEAMS CAN MAKE ALTERNATE PLANS FOR JULY KNOWING THAT THE SALT CITY CLASSIC WILL NOT BE A SCHEDULED STOP. | Jan. 9, 2013 bkb555 301 posts | Shark....Time to move it to Santaro....I know we will have to upgrade facilities...i.e. concessions and bathroom facilities but fields-wise, it is perfect for that tourney....ever since the county gave Hopkins park to private maintenance, the conditions have deteriorated exponentially......nothing like money getting in the way of how a softball league/tournament is conducted |
