Not the smartest idea to schedule Menifee 2 weeks from Tucson. The weather is going to beat Menifee!

I'm usually the least negative person towards SSUSA..But we were scheduled to play at 11:30 on Friday...Now we are playing at 3:30...Which means I now have to change my hotel reservations at the last minute..The positive is...It saves me one day of a hotel charge..

My team now plays at 9:30 instead of 8:30. I am glad for that move. I hate playing early morning in the cold. When I waas there in December for a tourney we played at 8:30 and brrrr. I always take my USSSA bats for the cold weather games.

This thread is not closed (but the actual Schedule Post thread is restricted to "Staff" posting only) ... The schedule was changed to accommodate the 65's team that was originally scheduled to play during the week ... When we asked them to play on "...the weekend...", we failed to clearly inform them that the weekend session included Friday play (solely our error) ... The revisions provide late(r) games for them on Friday for their travel and hotel convenience ... Posting the revisions a week early was, presumably, in enough time to allow everyone to be advised and plan accordingly ...

When we release the DRAFT schedules, there is a clear statement in our post that they are tentative and subject to change ... Also, the bottom of each schedule contains the statement: Schedule Subject to Change at Discretion of Tournament and Field Directors ... This is one of those circumstances ... Good luck everybody!

With only 22 teams, it should be no problem to make sure all games are played out to the full 7 innings. No need to cut any game short so the teams will get their time and monies worth. How much you wanna bet that it doesn't happen?

Good point A133, I will be playing in the 55 division and championship game will be at 12:30. Coming from Las Cruces it is still early enough to get home at a decent hour. I hope they don't make the pool games 50 mins.

Hi guys I know CJS Express really wanted to play but we are still working out kinks with Coach Barry recovering from 2 valve replacements and a pacemaker being placed. I know he will take a while to return but others on team will work together starting in Feb. to start playing again. barry may try to put some of us together for Laughlin tourney March 1-3 just to see how he feels. I too was sorry to see so few of teams in tournament, I have heard several players from other teams say 3 day hurt them and that guys in 55 division are concerned about one of teams who have dominated 55 AAA division past couple of years but remain at this level. Some have suggested not competing against them and although I do not understand why some teams continue to play down I will continue to play them and do our best to make it a competive game. I believe we can only get better by playing against tough teams. I am sure more teams will play in future and remember this is first year and and our weather-(AZ.) having just returned yesterday from South Bend Indiana can not be beat. Bless each of you and I hope all enjoy this weekend in Tucson.

G1 I played against you guys quite often when I played left field for the Sportsline Bulls 50's. I always like the competitive games. But the most important thing was how your team always handled yourselves with class. Class, competitiveness, comaradery the 3 C's of senior softball and you guys cover them all.

Boston thank you for kind words. Time does fly by so fast I turn 60 March 3rd and I am sure guys will tell you i run like 80. I am saving my speed for 80 and over HA. I still love the game and enjoy pitching except for covering 2nd base on double plays. I never saw Randy Johnson cover 2nd so wonder who in world came up with that one. You guys were always tough but as you said fun to play against and knew we would have to play hard to win. great memories, What softball is all about. Good luck in Tucson, I had hoped we would play at 55level there but will start full bore in Feb. Watch out for those flying 55's. GI

Hey , keep us in touch with how you are doing in Tucson. I hope rain will be light and games on track for all of you who made it there. looking forward to hearing results of 55 AAA. If I was in Vegas betting I know who I would have money on for that division. That's why games ar played on the field. never know who will get hot and upset the favorite. be safe

The tourney was cancelled on Saturday due to rain. My understanding is the City of Tucson cancelled it based on a policy of not using overly wet fields. Rio Grande 55's won the 55 division based on being 2-0 in pool play. They did beat JFF in pool play

$525 for two games! They need to offer these teams a discount for the next tournament!

That is not much of a tourney with twenty-two teams. Why are there tournaments in January? If you moved the tournament to the end of February or early March, the tournament would probably double in size. I also imagine a few teams opted for the TOC in Florida rather than play the Copper Classic.

Concessions should be made for these types of situations. The weather report stated 100% chance of rain for Sat. I am suprised the bracket didn't start on Friday night. there were actually awards given for 1st-3rd and a TOC bids. These are the types of decisions that are one of the reasons I have bypassed TOC tourneys for the past 3 yrs. I dragged myself out of a sick bed with the flu to help my team that was short-handed. On the bright side I did get to hang out with some buddies I haven't hung out with in a while. Such is life

boston,
When it comes down to it, the victories and awards are great, but the friendships and the memories are forever.

It was good to see a lot of guys I've known and played with and against for years. Congratulations to Rio Grande 55's and Arizona Rangers 60's. Hope everybody made it home safely. It took us 11 hours to get back to Telluride in rain, sleet and snow but did make it.

I had to stay, couldn't change my flight. The fields were fine two hours later, it didn't rain another drop after 11:00 Saturday, Sunday was real nice. There were local teams playing on several fields Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. They called this one way to early, there were many options for resuming play and completing this tournament. I'm dissappointed that SSUSA accepted Tucson's hasty decision without any resistance. I think they should cover costs and credit the balance on another tournament as a show of good faith. As for Tucson, they've lost my business.
