Discussion: More on Major Plus

This is Tim Barker and I am the left fielder for McDowell & Sons who recently played in the Vegas Wirkd Tournament Major Plus Division. I would like to thank all the players from Timberworks, Texas Crush, and Top Gun who came on the field to check on me when I was injured trying to make a catch in left center field in the Texas Crush game. You guys were all very gracious with your comments to me on how I play the game and your concern for my health was taken to heart. Some very nice comments were to directed to me which were greatly appreciated especially coming from all the great players that are on those teams. I was having a great tournament to that point (17-19 hitting) so it was very frustrating not being able to play any more games after that. When I returned home and saw my Doctor I found out that I had 4 broken ribs and bruised the Intercostal Muscles in my side & chest. This is a very painful injury and tough to deal with as it affects every move I make. But I am hoping to recover in time to play in the ISSA World Tournament in Sanford, FL in 6 weeks. The doctor has told me it will take 6 weeks to heal so it will be touch and go on that. But in closing, I again want to thank those players who checked up on me as it was greatly appreciated and great sportsmanship. And it was a pleasure competing against you all.

That’s great news! I have been praying for Butch on a daily basis. I have played with Butch for several years on different teams and you won’t find a better person or teammate. Hopefully he continues to progress. I hope I get to see him on the field again in the near future.

Discussion: Congrats to Chicago Classics

I'm the Leftfielder from the Travelodge 50 Major Team and would like to offer my congrats to Chicago Classics for their Phoenix Championship. We have played them 4 times this year with 3 of the games being decided by 1 run. We had another classic battle this past weekend in Phoenix. I really enjoy competing against your team and respect your team and accomplishments this year. Hope to battle you guys again next year.

Discussion: Mobile team ejection

It was still a live ball and time should never have been called(no one heard him call time either - we think it was just a copout). As you can imagine, an argument ensued and our shortstop was ejected for using a profanity. Then the tournament director got involved in the argument and told our shortstop and Manager to take our team and leave if we didn't like it because we were troublemakers. This incited the situation even further and the game was forfeited because our shortstop continued to argue. He probably should have been ejected for using profanity but we really got the shaft on this one.

Hi Bruce in GA. I play for Riverside and here's what happened. We were playing Damon's (Maryland) and they had a man on ist and 2nd with either one or no outs(can't remember which). The batter hit the ball to our shortstop who threw to our 2nd baseman for the force and then he overthrew first attempting a double play. Here's the kicker. The runner going from first to second(who was forced out) continued running and hit 2nd and then went all the way to third trying to get in a rundown which is interference. He cause his other runner who had also gone to third to step off and we tagged him out. At that point, one umpire called both runners out and ended the inning. Then Damon's argued and the other umpire decided he had called time even though the overthrown ball was on the ground in foul territory against the dugout fence and the other runner was on third base and could have attempted to score.
