Discussion: A Question For Bogie

We moved up to the 75 AAA level. Thought we were going to be really good. Didn't know the 75 level was so good. We are barely 500 for the season.

Just watched your video on the new Dimarini balanced. What weight were U using. Also saw the bear hit a good liner off the tee. What Wt.

The above is interesting. U have teams that form, work hard and sometimes have a bunch of luck, win and get moved up to Major +. Then U have teams that drop players who have been loyal friends and teammates for years and add top level players. They then they go out and win the big ones and get moved up to +. They then moan about getting moved up and have only a few teams to play. The only solution is to break up and go to other teams.

Trying to keep the field somewhat level is one of the hardest jobs of SSUSA.

What irritates me the most is teams that play in a qualifier for SSUSA, get rated for SSUSA and Vegas at say the AAA level. They then go play mainly SPA events so as to not tip off SSUSA that they are loaded with Major talent.

New bats often come out around Vegas time. What are some of the new 2020s to watch for???

Discussion: COURTESY RUNNER

When a CR goes out to run in the same inning for a 2nd time, It is obviously an attempt by the batting team to cheat the rules and put a fast runner out there again. There is not a player in senior softball who does not know that U can only CR 1 time per inning.

Maybe, not only should that CR be out, but that ends the inning if there are less than 2 outs.

For me that is as bad as those of U out there who still think it is perfectly OK to use an altered bat!

I do remember the wallet. It had very little money in it as most of my investment ideas for retirement have pretty much "SUCKED"

Linda has been a tournament warrior and has attended most especially if there is a casino or shopping opportunity nearby.

She now has a health issue that will probably leave her home for most.

She probably has a senior softball achievement that no other wife has.

In Ft Meyers Winter Nationals a few years back, she was ejected from the ball park for riding the ump for a series off questionable calls.

The irony of this is that some other teams that were in the area remember it besides our team.

Nancy

Thanks for the kind words about my passion about softball and my wife will agree.

As far as me being smart, I think my wife would like to have a serious

discussion with you about that statement!

Discussion: Tournament Change

In one tournament this year we used the double up innings do to rain. We do the same in 2 of my leagues. A guy from another team this weekend said they do the same thing in their league back home.

Visitors bat their 1st and 2nd innings out of the gate.

Home team bats their 1st and 2nd inning.

This is repeated for the 3rd and 4th innings.

The 5th 6th and 7th are normal.

Now, I know some of U have a complete brain melt down when something new is suggested.

The format works and we get 7 innings in with ease inside the time limits.

My proposal is to use this format in "PRELIMS ONLY" at major tournaments.

Go back to regular inning play during bracket play.

Ponder on the time saved with this format.

Batter mis-hits a short pop up down 1st base line short of 1st base. Pitcher goes over to get it but lets ball hit ground in fair territory and it spins over the foul line.

Ball now hits the bat on the ground in foul territory that the batter dropped on the way to 1st and it bounces back into fair territory.

Ump ruled fair ball and hitter has a single. Correct call?

Discussion: Nothern Nationals Lansing MI-Looking for 75s

The Chicago Gray Sox have played in this tournament for years. We have moved up to the 75 level this year. In looking at last years results there were no 75s.

After seeing the incredible talent at the 70 level level in Milwaukee this past week, we would get crushed-humiliated by 70 AAA teams.

Knowing we would be willing to go and play against 75 teams-It would be nice if 2 or better 3 other 75 teams would consider going. A 4 team field would be a nice tournament.

Anyway, if interested let SSUSA know of your interest.

Discussion: INTERESTING THOUGHT

I know this will rock the purist.

The Directer of our Del Webb league up here in Huntley Illinois put 2" yellow industrial grade duck tape around the 4 sides of the mat.

Basic result: The pitchers can see the mat much better. More strikes-less balls and less walks.

12" is meant to be a hitters experience. More strikes thrown-more hits.

Discussion: face masks

I wear a helmet with the face mask. Over the last 2 years. I have taken 2 shots off the helmet. Not liners. I get those easy. It was bad hops off the pitching rubber. Wish they would get ride of it. They can outline the legal box with those little marking flags they put in the holes for the bases when dragging the whole infield and finish it off with the chalk outline.

Moving up to the 75AAA level this year I might try my face mask when pitching. I will always wear the mask when playing other infield positions. I also plan on wearing the mask when playing outfield when I am looking directly into the sun. I have seen some very serious injuries to outfielders requiring ER and stitches.
