July 24, 2024 4040club	Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Rule covering runner touching base On a related note, Bruce M quoted this rule. (If the runner steps through the batter's box or touches home plate, they would be out as well.) In the Syracuse tourney we had a runner called out because he ran "to close" (umpire's call) to the batters box. Umpire said it did not matter, it was his decision. He was close (4 inches?) but not in box.

July 9, 2023 4040club	Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Westminster MD tourney July 13-14 Tim, unfortunately the NorEasters are still looking for more players. I have a roster of 21 players but only have 10 bodies to go to Westminster. We are still looking for players but if we can't find at at least 1 or 2 more players by Tues PM we will not be able to come. Wish us luck. Not that you need to know but here is what I'm dealing with (11 players): sick wives, sick sister, knee problems, eye injury, college orientation, vacation, heart problems and a death in the family (as of today).

We are most likely going to go to the: 2023 Proton Sports Presents the Bert Bennett Memorial (SSUSA) July 13-14 (thurs/fri) in Westminster, MD 2 day tourney $500 Syr is 3 days and $650 I believe Pittsburgh and Peachtree are also looking to go to this tourney. So there could be 4 teams. More info may be available from Fred @ 724-662-4947 (Pittsburgh team). Ken
Jan. 15, 2023 4040club	Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Change in Player Eligibility for 75+ and 80+ Teams As a manager of an 80s team, I agree that this is a significant problem for filling a roster. It basically takes away 4 possible players when it is already difficult to find/replace guys. All 80s managers in the East I have talked to have the same problem. We have a problem getting 3 AAA teams to a tourney as it is.
