Discussion: West Coast Aftershock -

Had a ball come to me in Birmingham this past weekend that was obviously cooler than the rest, not saying it was iced, just cooler. Maybe the other balls were in the sun and warmer than average but I immediately noticed the coolness being a pitcher. Gave the ball to umpire and it was ok'd for play. End of Story.

Discussion: Reebok Barrage

Sent a Barrage back with less than 40 hits (30oz) and it was received on May 29th. I heard from them Friday saying they were sorry for the failure and that a full refund check would be issued in 5 to 8 weeks. Now it you just reviewed and approved refund why does it take so long to get the money refunded???????????

Discussion: Batters Box

We had another call in Knoxville this weekend and again the batters box was not correctly laid out. It is 4 feet to the front from center of the plate and 3 feet to the rear from center of the plate. Just a correct layout/marking would eliminate almost all of calls. We even as the TD to get it corrected and he refused.
Well we get what we pay for!!!!! LOL

Batter gets a single and rounds first looking at second, relay comes in and the shortstop throws behind runner at first and throw goes out of play. Is runner awarded second or second and third???

Discussion: Tee-shirts or other prizes?

SPA sure didn't spend much on awards for Pensacola, a $2.00 mug and a cheap $5.00 or under travel bag just like they did at the Winter nationals. Just saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They gave golf type shirts last year, with embroidered logo that told what the tourney was and they got the free advertising. This was also listed as a NATIONAL with the higher entry fees to cover awards!!!!!!!!

Discussion: Pitching masks revisited

Just started wearing a Shutt mask this year in tournaments and league. Took one off rubber in Cartersville that would have broken left jaw but instead just jarred head some. Only dead spot I've found is on popups and I flip it off easily and quickly, also haven't found it to hot so far. Won't play without it now.

Steve,
One of the Huntsville guys playing on Crimm's team lost or left his glove last Saturday. If it's a large Black glove he thinks Wilson or Worth let me know and please bring to Montgomery.
Thanks,

Discussion: Southpaw's Birmingham tourney

Fl.
No hard feelings just wanted to let him know we don't do that type of stuff in Senior Softball. Two fingers still swollen at the joint and won't close, Sorry about my outburst, but it was reactionary. We hope to do better as we were missing 4 starters.
Hope Steve's tournament gives your team a feel for tournment ball and maybe we see you at a tourney.

Discussion: Southpaw's Birmingham tourney

Steve,
Good tourney as always and your team is much stronger this year. For the new team they have one guy who needs to show some sportmanship as I am nursing a really sore finger from getting kicked after him getting struck out and disputing the call the ump asked me to show him where the ball hit and when I did he kicked my hand. Fortunetely I had teammates that reminded me that we don't retailate or do things like that. Given the benifit of doubt maybe he was kicking at the ball but got my hand but he could have said "opps sorry". I apologized to my team for the short outburst which would have been more than that in younger years, we just don't do crap like that in Senior Softball.

Discussion: Hr or out

League only requires that 1st base be touched and baserunners advance one base after hitting homerun, much like most of Senior Softball. Leadoff hitter hits one out and proceeds to run all bases but touches the wrong home plate. What do you call it?? Out or Homerun?

Discussion: Happy fathers day

Happy fathers day to all the fathers and grandfathers that helped us with the basics of the game. Dad would hit those towering fly balls till we both were worn out as practice and that was after a hard day on the farm. Two grandfathers who both loved the game. One would never miss a Pirates radio game and the other grew up playing sandlot baseball. I sure learned a lot about the game from all of them and that's what keeps me going today.
Thanks to all the Dad's and Grand dad's who pass on the love for the game.
