March 5 boogpow44 53 posts | Asa bats Our league has switched from senior allowed 1.21 bats to Asa bats only in order to level playing field. Any input on the hottest Asa only bats out there. Do not care about durability. We use the 52 core 300compression Dudley hycon. |
March 5 Whitey58 28 posts | Asa bats With those 52-300 compression balls the best ASA bat is the Miken Triad Extreme. The bat will be more durable hitting those balls than the 375 compression ball.Alot of pop from this bat. After talking with Miken I am waiting for the Miken Physco maxload to use with the 375 balls. The triads are built for the 300 balls. Awesome bat |
March 5 Bruster55 Men's 60 109 posts | Asa bats Hot ASA bats:Worth 454 sick or the Worth Filthy which is made for the 52/300 balls. |
March 6 Fred S Men's 85 297 posts | Asa bats Agree with Whitey58 on the Triad. I used a Triad 3 last year and that ball just flew off it just a well as my PST's |
March 6 boogpow44 53 posts | Asa bats Fred s. Are you still swinging those 30 ouncers, the last time I talked to you I was amazed guy is 80 years old and still swinging 30 ounce bat. Hope all is well and your able to play softball this spring and summer. |
March 6 ju25 Men's 60 236 posts | Asa bats All of the new ASA bats are made and tested for the 52/300 ball. The difference in performance for most is minimal, so swing what feels best in your hands. The hype has the Demarini J3A as senior hot, but just like the juggy and geezer, the bat has too much flex for my liking. Bats that are getting good reviews are Demarini J3A, Aftermath, Fu-Dawg, Combat Derby Boys,Wanted, Easton L4,L6, XL2, Worth Legit,Sick,Mutant, Miken Triad. Find the bat that fits you and be patient because some take a little longer to get going than others. Every time a new bat comes out it gets hyped as the greatest, but they all still have to pass the same test. |
March 6 DonB 48 posts | Asa bats Here is some good info on new ASA approved bats that I found on another site: As of October 1, 2012, ASA has changed the way they are testing their slow pitch bats. With this change, ASA has also created a new stamp for all ASA-certified bats. Don’t worry though, ASA bats with the old stamp are grandfathered in and legal for play moving forward. The biggest change has to do with how ASA performs their tests. In the past, ASA bats were tested with a cannon that fired a softball at the barrel of a bat at 110 mph. This test measured the balls exit speed off of the barrel to ensure the bat’s performance didn’t result in an exit speed greater than 98 mph. In the new test, the ball is fired at 105 mph instead of 110, but allows the exit speed to remain at 98 mph. The decrease in cannon speed allows for a greater bat performance. By slowing down the rate of the ball in the test, manufacturers can increase the speed at which the ball leaves the bat. There was also a change made to the official softball used in ASA competition. In the past, ASA required a 44 Core, 375 compression ball. Now they allow a 52 Core, 300 compression ball. In simplified terms, the ball is now bouncier than in the past. ASA’s goal is to have the ball flex more than the bat and for ASA bats to perform more like USSSA bats. Even with the new rule changes, not all ASA bats will be USSSA certified. Each bat is specific as to which leagues it is legal. For example, the new Triad from Miken is ASA certified, but is too hot for USSSA play. While the Z-2000 from Louisville Slugger is maxed out on the ASA test, but still able to pass the USSSA certification.
