Jan. 28 road kill Men's 60 35 posts | So.....there are only so many hits in an Ultra II before it cracks. What do youse guys do for a batting Practice bat? I have a 20+ year old TPX "Bill Gatti" signature!!! (~; Maybe something I could use in a non SR tournament???? Thanks, stan b |
Jan. 28 tattooball 774 posts | If you can swing an end loaded bat get a Nightmare your gamer will be your BP bat. |
Jan. 28 DCPete 409 posts | There's some U-Trip tanks out there; the 2013 black/yellow Mizuno Blackout can be had pretty cheap on the Bay . . . |
Jan. 28 curveball Men's 65 705 posts | If you can find an Ultra II Legacy, you'll get 1000's of swings out of it and it swings just like an Ultra II black one. |
Jan. 29 DieselDan Men's 75 602 posts | Miken Triad Blackout was built for durability and has pop. |
Jan. 29 Shut Up & Pitch 67 posts | I used to have a BP bat and a gamer. The problem is there are all these "latest and greatest must have bats" that are always new thing on the senior softball scene. So I've decided to just use the same bat for BP and games because when it breaks I'll use it until the next "latest and greatest" becomes available. That way I don't have a bunch of bats laying around. I had a Reebok Barrage by the time I finally broke it, the Dudley Lightning came on the market and is now in my bat bag. When it dies, I'll be looking whatever will be out there at that time. It's probably more expensive way of doing things but being a senior I don't plan on playing ball or living forever, so I may as well enjoy it while I can. |
Jan. 29 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | My 30oz balanced Combat Centenarian is starting its 4th year. I use it some in BP, most will use old alum bats. Out of caution I bought a 2014 Short Barrel Combat Cent for $89 as a backup, may use it as a BP bat just to see how it does. As a point of interest is the 2014 Centenarian Short barrel bat good or bad or just ok???? C |
Jan. 30 road kill Men's 60 35 posts | I guess to be more precise, I want something I can hit a lot for BP and use in ASA/USSSA tournaments as well. Thanks for the info though, I have looked at those mentioned. stan b |
Jan. 30 neck10 714 posts | road kill find an ultra 11 with asa stamps on it they last a lot longer than the new one,s & there are still a few out there I have five of the grey or silver legacy,s not a bad bat either, but the asa one,s are the best |
Jan. 30 neck10 714 posts | I also have 3 ultra 11 ASA stamped bats in the wrapper & maybe 10 used asa ultra 11's like I said great bats |
Jan. 30 Wayne 37 Men's 65 773 posts | Unless the bat is destroyed, I will hit with a cracked bat until I can't hit with it anymore in BP. |
Jan. 30 softball4b Men's 70 1250 posts | I have a 26oz Demarini One and put on a 2 oz batting sleeve. Bat is lasting forever and I get the ego boost of hitting with a senior bat. Lord knows my ego is as fragile as a skinny teenage boy getting ready to ask the best looking girl in school to prom. Truth though any bat that mimics the swing weight of your gamer is what you should use in BP. I watched a teammate just demolish the ball in BP after BP and then get in the game and hit 500' popups. Finally I realized he was swinging a 32oz bat in bp and a 27 in the game. Let me think 40-60 swings with a bat 5 oz heavier than his gamer. Needless to say after he switched to a lighter bat in BP, he was a much improved hitter. Once your gamer is hot, never ever swing it in BP. |
Jan. 30 road kill Men's 60 35 posts | I found a '13 model Ultra brand new. Matches length and weight and balance. ASA stamped. Can't wait for the snow to melt!! |
Jan. 31 road kill Men's 60 35 posts | @Neck10 you were absolutely correct! Damned near as nice as the Ultra II Thanks, Stan b, Milwaukee |
Feb. 8 qdup1 25 posts | I have been using an Easton SCN18 old stamp for a few years and it has 1000's of swings on it. Hardly any webbing but it has a pebble inside. Saved me lots of money and you can buy them fairly cheap. I of recent been using a Miken Triad Blackout and got over 2000 hits before the outer cover cracked and it has sand sounds inside. Luckily that all happened before the 90 warranty expired and I will be getting a Freak Black as a return bat. Of course that has no warranty. Interesting to see how that one does. |
Feb. 22 cronin51 Men's 55 20 posts | Freak 98's are tanks, I use one in BP all the time, same weight and balance as my U2 of course I am not hitting 500' bombs ever |
Feb. 23 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | With the fragile senior bats of the past I frequently used a utrip bat or ASA bat..ASA especially in cold weather. Now, however, I use the Dudley Lightning. |
Feb. 23 neck10 714 posts | I have five or six of thos legacys don't care for them!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Feb. 26 curveball Men's 65 705 posts | neck, how much $$$ for the lot of 5 or 6? I'm interested. |
