Thank you Tim for the quick results and how well this tournament was handled with weather problems. You and your crew did a great job, umpires were professional and prepared, and hopefully the results will encourage more teams in the future.

Curt - really - I guess you weren't told that if you didn't play in rain with puddles that you would forfeit. I guess you didn't have the tournament director ump one of your games and apparently not like one of the guys on your team and tell the opposing catcher after he walked that he should of struck the MF out. Also, the nice ump missing some teeth that threaten to throw anyone out of the game if they said anything to him. The same ump on Sunday during a game on a ball that was hit over an outfielders head and wedged itself under the fence as the fielder 30 feet away raised his arms to signal ball stuck, the ump stopped the game and walked from behind home plate out to centerfield 320 feet away to look at the ball and then call it a homerun causing the fielder to lose it and get thrown out? Not to mention the team in the field was losing 20 to 3 at that point and the director came out and over turned it to a double. Yeah very professional. Won't be back there..

In all or our 5 games we only had one umpire for each game. I can't remember a time our umpire came out from behind home plate to make a call.
Runners on first and second, no outs, popup hit to shortstop about 15 feet in the grass, no infield fly called. Umpire didn't think grass is infield I guess.
Last three games we played 40 minute/5 inning games, because of rain, not fun.
The last time I played there all 8 or 9 fields were packed, cars, spectators and players everywhere. This time, only 4 field. What a change.
I agree with BH21.

Once again.....If the Senior Associations INCLUDING the SSUSA would use today's technology which they for some reason refuse to do, a lot of this Umpire mess and Umpires "doing their own thing" would be eliminated to a large extent.

This "new technology" is call "YouTube" where Positioning, Field Mechanics, etc. could be made to be part of an Umpire's overall training.

I have attempted to bring this idea to the attention of not only the California Powers To Be but to each Regional SSUSA UIC as well for the past 4-years TO NO AVAIL!

Apparently our team never ran into the same problems the rest of you did (other than rain). If this is on the schedule again for next year, we will go back and hope for better weather and more teams. I am truly glad I don't have to be a director at many of these tournaments. Good luck to you all the rest of the year if you choose to play.

There CAN'T be any more teams next year.
The tournament was "full" according to the director. I sent a check in early (was told it was never received) and when I called to see why our team wasn't listed, he said it was full and had a waiting list.
SO that means that they had the maximum number of teams in this years tournament.
I also have been told by other coaches they were told the same thing.
Just some information to share.
