Miss Nancy
I have to add a few things.
BJ,if obstruction is signaled, the runner never becomes in jeopardy because the umpire can not tell which base , in his opinion, that the baserunner would have reached until the play is OVER. so no base is awarded yet.

Nancy, Just to clarify, the runner ONLY gets the next base (or further) if he continues to the next base in question. If he goes back to the base where the obstruction occurred, he will not be awarded any other base. He has to continue to make the attempt to the next base to be even considered in getting it awarded to him.

PS, he/him refers to baserunners... before someone starts to politically correct me...lol

Discussion: Getting game ball back to pitcher in a quick manner

Hey Bob
It sounds like it is a league for retired folks
If it is, ENJOY the time out on the field and don't fret about 10 mins
life is too short
but if you want to speed it up, let the pitcher wear ball bags (like the umps)
he can carry two extra balls with him at all times.

Hey Bob,
I am really impressed that you play 9 innings.
What are your start times?
I guess that have to be at least 90 minutes apart.
Is the last inning unlimited runs?
If you worried about the time, why not play full 7 inning games without a time limit.
This should still be shorter than any 9 inning games.
just my 2 cents worth.

Discussion: A fifth rating?

The bad thing about doing that to Alabama, is that their 2nd string is better than most first strings in the league.
Maybe play 1st string in the first quarter, 2nd in the 2nd quarter and so forth.

Dave,

That is twice this year that you have agreed with me.

PS, I looked for you in Vegas so I could meet you, but you were always at a different park.
I think you were avoiding me

He is out
As long as the 1st baseman is touching any part of the white base, the runner is out

Discussion: for Dave and SSUSA

Hey Dave
Why does SSUSA only have one umpire until Sunday in Vegas?
I can understand in the RR games, but the bracket games on Friday and Saturday are as important as the games on Sunday.
The entry fee is high enough to have 2 umps for ALL of the bracket games.
I am sure it is a money thing, but I would pay another $50 if need be to have 2 umps for all the bracket games.
Maybe you can bring it up in the yearly meetings.
Thanks in advance.
Coop3636

PS. I personally saw 2 games this year that were decided in the wrong way because there was only one ump. (not ours)

Yes I did argue, because I was right
The extra inning "could" have helped us win that game.
Umpires should be there to umpire, not to try and show up the players.
He was show boating from the start of the game.
Even the other scorekeeper had the starting time at 8:29
OH well, lesson learned. From now on, I will set my timer on my phone in front of the umpire so we don't get screwed again.
If tournaments would use the scoreboards, there would not ever be this problem.
Thanks Bruce, you got me mad all over again. lol
PS. I let messages for those 2 players

I am always causing trouble..lol
I had a terrible weekend hitting, but always have a good time
I wish there was a place I could show this rule in a situation book somewhere, he will not believe me.
I try to know the rules so when I argue, I know what I am arguing about.
We are done with tournaments until next year, just a few league games left.
I was a pretty good year and playing softball is always good.

Batters mishits a ball (short pop up) that lands in fair territory and bounces over the foul line.
The catcher (with both feet in fair territory) reaches over the foul line and catches the ball in the air. He throws the batter out at first.
The ump rules it a foul ball because the ball was in foul territory when the catcher caught it even though he was in fair territory.
I agree with this call, but my catcher doesn't.
I asked almost 20 different umps and coaches and the vote was split 50/50 on if it was foul or fair.
Please give me a decision from the rules committee.
Thanks
