Discussion: rule of play...please help

I am always causing trouble..lol
I had a terrible weekend hitting, but always have a good time
I wish there was a place I could show this rule in a situation book somewhere, he will not believe me.
I try to know the rules so when I argue, I know what I am arguing about.
We are done with tournaments until next year, just a few league games left.
I was a pretty good year and playing softball is always good.

Discussion: rule of play...please help

Batters mishits a ball (short pop up) that lands in fair territory and bounces over the foul line.
The catcher (with both feet in fair territory) reaches over the foul line and catches the ball in the air. He throws the batter out at first.
The ump rules it a foul ball because the ball was in foul territory when the catcher caught it even though he was in fair territory.
I agree with this call, but my catcher doesn't.
I asked almost 20 different umps and coaches and the vote was split 50/50 on if it was foul or fair.
Please give me a decision from the rules committee.
Thanks

I will vouch for Jimmy (Cowboy)
He played with me for several years

He definitely will hit around 800 and will help u anywhere you put him

We had a great times playing at BLD.
The games ran on time, you had many vendors there, and it ran pretty smoothly.
I do have one suggestion.
PLEASE have 2 umpires for ALL the brackets games.
The Friday and Saturday games are just as important as the Sunday games.
I can understand using one ump for the RR games.
I saw many calls that were missed because there was only one umpire.
The umps did a good job (as best as you could for one ump) but 2 umpires would have changed the outcome for more than a few games.
Just my 2 cents
Again, we had a great time and will be back next year.

I did correct myself when I saw his age..
I need to get out more, I had no idea LI was for long Island.

And now a days, people have area codes from all over so I never go by them anymore.
I probably should have researched it more, but was easier to write something here and get corrected. lol

Hey
I am not sure about open fields, but they have nice batting cages as you walk into the park
$1 gets you 20 swings and you don't have to chase the balls

Discussion: new for Nancy

Last message was getting too long.
Always bottles first if available, then cans, then draft.
Softball always comes before money, just look how much I have called in to work to go play softball over the years.
As far as the noise from the scorekeeper, the more the better.
I pitch and I always like a scorekeeper keeping track of where hitter usually go. It helps the defense more than people realize.
We have a slot for you anytime you want it.
I will even triple the pay of the last scorekeeper.
and BTW, team jet was repossessed last weekend..sorry.

Nancy
You only have to be in Vegas for 4 days this year to keep score for TN Connection
We are at BLD so you can stay in the AC and keep score from behind the glass with a cold beer or 5
I might even have to fake an injury to sit up with you

I'm just teasing with Dave
I go to the meeting every year.
I am sure I received my extra balls last year.
(and I think I bought an extra dozen)

Can I get the 3 balls owed to me from last year? (played 9 games)
I wish I would have known that rule last year.
That $15 could have made me millions on the craps table.

I'll take a 2018 tee shirt instead..lol

I appreciate the grammar help, I know it was supposed to be moot.
I actually thought Dave would have corrected me..(I guess he is busy)
Just to clarify:

If they supply you with balls (6 or 12 as they have in the past) the retrieve rule is MOOT.
If they supply ALL the balls, then you can NOT use your own because only balls that come from the umpire (SSUSA supplied) will be legal.

I hope they give us 12 balls and let us hit our own.
I would much rather have a chance to put a new ball in whenever I wanted to.

If that is the case, unless they have them stamped this year, I would say the balls you have will work.
( if they are exactly the same as the ones they give out)

The bad thing about hitting your own balls is that
it makes me have to lug around a back pack full of balls all the time.

If anyone wants to be a scorekeeper and lug around game balls, I have an open position.
Pay is double of the highest contract on the team.

Just my 2 cents

If SSUSA is providing them, your question about using a ball you already have is mute.
