Birmingham tourney? PLEASE explain
TO SSUSA
WHY would you have a 2 day tournament on Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday?
Most 50 and 55 yr old players still work for a living.
If it needs to be a 3 day tournament, I can understand, but its NOT!!
We have 3 teams in our bracket and have to miss a day of work to play on Friday.
Please give me a good reason that you made this decision.

The SSUSA office will likely be polling teams today to see if weekend-only is preferred by all ... But in the interim, here are TWO good reasons ... We kept the initial start date of Friday because [1] it's been published that way for over seven (7) months and [2] to avoid us making a unilateral decision that could have potential adverse economic effects on teams/players who may have already locked in on non-refundable hotel bookings ...

We will be there either way....
(1) just because it has been published for over 7 months, that has no bearing on the situation
(2) If the players already have NON REFUNDABLE hotel rooms, they will be staying Friday and Sat anyway.

I have already changed our hotel reservations, just let me know so I can get my guys to change their days off again (if you change it again)

Either way.....

Am I missing something? There are a total of 11 teams in this tourney?

Brett ... DONE DEAL .. Thanks to all of the managers who responded quickly and positively to rolling it back to the weekend ... Also had the benefit of extra time that allowed another team who has played there for years to get in ... Nice clean 4-team full round robin to DE brackets now for all groups ... Good luck! ...

Brett, you know what they say, "you can't please everyone". I'm playing Wednesday and Thursday with a 65 team and now I am also playing Saturday and Sunday with a 55 team.
Oh well!

I saw that.
I don't know why they didn't change your group to Thursday and Friday? (now they have an empty day on Friday)
I didn't ask about that, I just ASSUMED all the dates would move forward one day.

A majority of the Session #1 teams declined an offer to move their session back a day for exactly the reason we didn't move yours back initially: Not wanting to disrupt their travel and hotel arrangements ... We polled your group and got a preference to move it back ... That's exactly the opposite of the polling result in their group ... As Bruce indicated "..you can't please everyone.." .. Although we DID please the majority of the teams in each of the two sessions! ... But, heck, no good deed goes unpunished around here!

All "play/no-play" decisions are made at the fields of play at game time ... Depending on conditions at that time, and the prognosis for the facility, rolling the tournament back may be one of the viable options ...
