May 3 batguyaz 134 posts | Bill Gateley Paul Smit Larry Anderson Bruce Fairchild Dom Ricky Dunn Ken Van Bogaert Ivan Dennis Clatterbaugh,Jones, Burbank, Einstein Hank Cluess Conway Waddy Terry Perryman I am sure I missed some from the other post but these are names of some of the best senior hitters nation wide. Of course not in order. That's just the way it posted. |
May 3 azsenior 92 posts | Homerun Bill was at Sunland Village this morning to hit. Could not get the ball out of the infileld, his swing looked like that of a 90 year old. Found out later that his wife dragged him to a 90 minute hot-yoga class and he could barely move....LOL |
May 3 Hayhook43 10 posts | You miss one Peggy O'Neill |
May 4 batguyaz 134 posts | Is she a hitter that we missed. If so tell us a little more. |
May 5 Hayhook43 10 posts | Peggy O'Neill She plays in 50+ to 60+ Home run hitter What do you want to know? Most fields women cannot hit it out so her homeruns are in the park. Teams have started just sitting on the fence, so she has cut her home runs down and base hitting. She gets walked a lot. Tell me what you want to know or references. |
May 5 batguyaz 134 posts | I think it is great to give her a note. She deserves it. 'You go girl'..... |
May 5 batguyaz 134 posts | PS: you know that Rip It makes the best girls bats out there. I bet if she called Bill he would get her the right bat. He told me they wanted to het into the senior women's market more. His number is 480-251-3717 |
May 5 batguyaz 134 posts | sorry, wrong number - 480-241-3717 |
May 5 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | Batguy, does every post from you have to turn into a commercial? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ |
May 5 batguyaz 134 posts | like most others are not....anyway I am sorry if I go overboard. I will try to tone it down. Leaving the summer anyway...have a great summer guys and see you in the fall. |
May 6 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Batuyaz, I'm so flattered and pleased that you would put me in any group of best hitters in the country. What a great feelng for me to see my name, in a sense, up in lights. Thanks, again. D-Bax, Well, folks, there he goes again. Obviously, you're name wasn't on the list concurrent with your failure to announce yourself as yourself, eh Dave? Save the ZZZZZZZZ, Dave for any discussion of your merits as a contributor to Senior Softball via this message board. There's a great quote from Eric Hoffer, a long shoreman poet from San Francisco circa 1950s that goes, "Something has died in a man who can no longer praise the living." And I would add smells to that one, too, Dave for messages like yours. Keep 'em positive, Dave or keep 'em to yourself. Now, on the subject of best hitters in the Nation and I've seen a few I do have a standout best and that's got to be Don Clatterbaugh. He's just in a class by himself for a ton of reasons and is a fabulous teammate and guy. After that I've had the blessing to play with a couple more. Mike Burbank Rick Perez Denny Jones Gary Tryhorn, just to name a few. And I'm sure there's many more but all the guys I mentioned I've seen under the most pressure situations immaginable trying to win National Titles and these guys are all monsters. I watched Clatter in a Championship game against a great Oregon Masters team come up with the bases loaded and the game on the line smiling, not boastfully but confident and proud that he knew what we all knew, that the game was over before he took a swing. He lined the first pitch into right center to win it for us. This type of confidence/ability characterizes the best hitters I've ever seen up close. Thanks again, Batguy for putting me on anyone's list of best hitters. You made my day. |
May 6 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | I had time to rethink this. Originally I thougth we were looking for hitters , base hitters, not monsters. Some mashers in the Southeast are Curt Hollis, Gary Deaton and Baer Chandler, Matty Deginero (sp?) and Pat McClendon. Monsters aside, the best all around base hitter (he also has hr power) is Caleb Rabenold. Caleb can hit either line and is VERY fast. |
May 7 Tam 63 posts | Speaking of Peggy Oneill she is the best Senior hitter I have seen and recently had the opportunity to coach her in a tournament in Oxnard. She has the skill, talent and ability to out hit any female hitter I have seen on the Senior circuit and for her age she is amazing. I would say she is top of the list for the women, and I think she needs to be recognized. She not only can play ball but she is an inspiration to all!!! |
May 7 skywarrior 24 posts | I can give you some information about Peggy. She is a very close friend of mine. You will never meet a more generous, fair, gutsy woman in your life. She is amazing to watch. Many people do not realize that she has been battling breast cancer for the past few years. Going through Kemo did not slow her down! She has been playing in tournaments and doing great. Played around 100 softball games while undergoing treatment. She has a trophy room that looks like a women's softball museum. It would be interesting to see how many MVP awards she has won. Also batting titles, fielding, and home runs hit. She has coached the Fun Bunch 50 year old team for several years and has been playing with the Las Vegas Neon's and at present in coaching the Missouri Show Me team. She will playing in the Huntsman games in October so if you are there and get the chance, go watch her play. |
