| Sept. 14, 2008 einstein Men's 50 3112 posts | Let Matt Fahring play for EVOLUTION Hi Terry, This situation deserves it's own thread. I met Matt Fahring this weekend and he's a terrific guy and I know the difference. He plays with one of those combination metal and nylon braces that restricts movement considerably. Again I know because I've had 2 operations about to be 3 on the same knee. And he's been out of the game since April 2007 and it will take him a year to even get close to where he was before he was injured. He was a role player NOT a starter with the Mavericks before then and though I see him having faced him as a good player I would say that he like me, is not presently in the form to incite fear in any opponent. It's about participation and helping a team become more of itself without destroying real balance in the division and Matt Fahring who is currently banned from playing in Phoenix with Evolution in NO WAY is a threat to ALL/ANY of our best interests. Respectfully, Terry, Fran and Dave, Let Matt Fahring play. |
| Sept. 14, 2008 sliplayer Men's 60 70 posts | Matt Fahring should be allowed to play with Evolution. Einstien should be allowed to play for the Mob. Neither situation is a team trying to take unfair advantage of the rules. Have we forgotten that the purpose of us playing softball is to get to play? I understand individuals have tried to take advantage of rules in the past but we need to look at incividual cases to make these decisions. I also understand that it's a tough situation for softball organization leaders to do this without being accused of favoritism. We still need to do what's right for players like Matt and Joe. | Sept. 15, 2008 Easy E Men's 60 46 posts | Morning to all. I had the chance to play against both of the guys on this past weekend. I play for Double Play and I want to say that I feel that both of these guy's should be allowed to play with the teams that they were with this past weekend. They are good players, but to say that either one will make a real big differance to the teams is streatching it a little. Matt is a great person and a gamer, so I hope to see him in Phoenix. It was a pleasure meeting both of these guy's and I had alot of fun messing with Einstein while i was base coaching talking about the 60's. he gave me a short history lesson :) Eric Overstreet #21- Team Double Play 50's |
| Sept. 15, 2008 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Matt is a great guy and a good player with a warrior heart. He is playing hurt and can be a valuable player to any team, but is not an 'IMPACT' player. Please reconsider and let him play. |
| Sept. 15, 2008 Tate22 Men's 60 280 posts | Thanks for everyones thoughts and comments on this matter. It wasn't our intention to make this a cause. Matt just wants to play ball, and he was going to be on our roster earlier this year but couldn't due to his multiple injuries. He basically has no options to play as the only 50 M+ team in Southern CA cut him at the start of the year as part of a roster overhaul. The assessments of his impact are very accurate, and his role would be the same on our team at this late date in the season as he has been out for 18 months. That being said, if one team is allowed an add, all teams should be allowed if the facts are the same. They are in this case. Finally, we accept the rules and the processes of SSUSA and have particpated in 10 SSUSA events this year. If he can't play with us in Phoenix, we won't agree but we will still be there. | Sept. 15, 2008 FOG33 8 posts | I certainly understand the reason and I don't everyone is telling the truth about this getnleman playing on another team. However, we (INDy FOG) is coming to Phx this OCtober and only have 11 players and asked if we could bring two from the 55 AAA Brickyard team that is local and was turned down. So, fair is fair. |

| Sept. 15, 2008 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | FOG33 did you just try and add them without playing in a a qualifier? I can tell you for a fact that adding new players you need to requalify your whole roster including the new players. I just spent a weekend in Escondido CA playing in a qualifier that was not in my budget. |

| Sept. 15, 2008 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | fog33 are u a 50 AA or AAA,if you are AAA there should not been that much of a problem in adding older player(we did it in 2004 in vegas as we only had 10 ande added 1 55 to our 50 team).did u show that u were coming up short of players. to answer another question,u were able to have up to 3 adds in the young div up to a certain date before worlds,so make sure u know what your talking about before spouting off. |

| Sept. 16, 2008 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | 1984 that is when ASA/USSSA went away from District/State/National. Advent of NSA, ISA etc with no qualifying wins but rather participation changed the National Tournaments as we know it. $$$$$ Either way this is the system and it will not every change back. |
| Sept. 16, 2008 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | fog33,i wasn't going after you,just trying to let u know on how to do it.if u try to add from same age u have to qual them in a tourney,unless,your roster is down to 10 or less from your qual roster and have no tourney to qual them in.if that happens u can add up till u reach 12 players(i think).as it stands u could only add 60 yr olds without having to qual them.good luck. |
