First of all, My Condolences to James Washington and his family. The Lord works in Mysterious ways. Defibulators, you never really think about them because we have played in so many games over the years. NOW after being a witness to something like this, I really don't want to take the field unless there is a Defibulator on site. I'll never forget the COURAGOUS MEN WOMEN that gave James the CPR (Man those Ambulance and Paramedics took TO TO LONG to get there) they really worked hard to keep him alive. James and I were headed back to LA to play in our Sunday League. Less than an hour the word was out and they canceled the remaining games (That's RESPECT). James is loved and respected by some many people. We here in Los Angeles and the rest of Southern California have lost another Great BALL Player and Friend, HE WAS A GOOD MAN With the BIGGEST SMILE. This Ones for you James, I already miss you calling me Nardo, man this is tuff. I'm to OLD to play in a Tourney that doesn't have
a Defibulator. The Field of Dreams Makes TO Much Money for them not to have such a life saving Tool on site.
I really feel that it would have saved his LIFE.

My thoughts and prayers are with James and his family. We lost a great person, friend and teammate. I really don't know what to add he brought a lot of joy to playing. James had the biggest smile on his face as he crossed home plate.

My thoughts, prayers and heart go out to James's family and all my LAF teammates. I would especially like thank the Wong players that were James teammate before me who were so supportive to me as well as my teammates. The blessing that occurred on the field in prayer will never be forgotten. Most of all I will miss James next to me in left center driving me to be all I can be as a competitor. I'm in shock and will miss my friend tremendously. RIP #33

I pray that James be given immediate admission into the house of God and is seated at his side with his memorable smile. I pray for peace and strength for his family and the courage to endure their loss.
We have all lost a great friend and in the field of battle,a great cmpetitor. I pray for his teammates on LAF and encourage you to keep James in your heart when you take the field; In my own way, I will pray for your victory.
Many thanks to those who were at James side in his final moments and for the brothers and sisters who prayed for his well being. That memory will always be engrained in my heart. Peace and Love James....

Wow, this really hit hard. James will never be forgotten every time I show up to a senior softball game. I loved greeting him at every tournament with his big smile & eyes that showed what an awesome gentleman he was. He was definitely one of the best on & off the field. Wongs & LAF teammates you were unbelievably 1 team on the field yesterday. Thank you so much for all the Love and effort you put into trying to keep James with us. The circle for a prayer afterwards will also stay with me forever. Thank you to all senior softballers & family. James, I will miss you. Shirley Fahring

Maybe this will open the eyes of the people who run the senior tournaments that anything can happen at anytime and senior softball players of all ages might have a medical condition and it be printed on their cards and the facility be ready for any such situation.

As an umpire of SSUSA, we are all required to take the CPR course each year. Starting in 2007 all fields that we work on have defibulators available.

On behalf of the players and family members of the Top Gun III team we send our thoughts and prayers to James' family, friends, and teammates. A few years back the Top Gun Softball organization first held a fundraising tournament in Menifee to raise funds to purchase an AED to be on-hand for all Top Gun Tourneys. Since that time the Top Gun Board through proceeds from the Top Gun Tourney's has purchased AED's for atleast two of the Top Gun teams to take with them to all tournaments. As funds become available more AED's will be purchased so all Top Gun teams from 50+ to 80+ will have the tools to help save a life. If you get a chance, get trained on using an AED, you might be able to save a life.

I think the complex should take the 3 dollars they charge you to play and put it inot life saving devices. I know lincoln hills does that for sure and they have 55 year old teams. Not to mention the cost of beer and food. Just a sugestion. No harm intended.

I think this is something every team should talk about, I know we on team Demolition are, I for one do not want to have this happen again. We need to have this equipment on hand just like our bats & gloves

My heart goes out to James and his family. To my brother Tommy and all on Laf and all other players may the sorrow you feel in your heart fade but may it also hold James and all of your memories of him in it forever. It was quite the sight James you were well loved!!! We should all be so lucky to go out doing what we loved and with so many who cared. I am sure some team in heaven already picked him up and they are wining. Rusty Team Smashers

Again, Thanks to all for your kind words;
Most of the Senior Softball family didn't know James, he was quiet, allways smiling, but if you played against him, then YES, you knew who he was. Hit a one hopper to second and beat it out! That was James! Need a four foot hundred Home run, call James! Need someone to slap the ball thru the 5 6 and get a double, James! Need someone to talk too, James was your man!
As you can see from all the post, he was and STILL is GOOD people and i had the plesure, to not only play with him but get to know him as a MAN. We should all be so lucky! To all my LAF & WONG teamates, James will be in left center field the next time we all play, it's just that this time Tommy you'll have to catch the ball! (JAMES's SMILE)

James Washington

My deepest sympathy to all of James' family and friends. I only knew James from playing with him this year on LAF. He always and had a smile on his face or something good or encouraging to say.
Senior Softball won't be the same without him but he is in a better place!

I will never have the blessing of knowing James, but I read with a contrite and heavy heart how he has touched so many.I am fairly new on this board and heretofore have seen mostly negative diatribes re; regional politics, unfair practices, money issues, ball and field quality, hidden agendas and rule interpretation ad nauseam.I had begun to ask myself, why
do I want to get involved in this! After reading the above, the answer is clear. The third post from the top by Rightrj brought me to tears. The essence of what its' all about and what's important lies in the spirit of what has been written here.We get caught up in things and lose track of the things of value and it takes a jolt like this to refocus us.In Gods infinite wisdom, there was meaning and purpose in his existence and those who knew him and it is up to us,the softball community to carry forth his testimony, quiet integrity and legacy and make this a better association and world.I have been a paramedic for 30 years and if I start playing senior softball, you can rest assured there will be a defibrillator at any event I go to......

Hey Guys,
You had to be there. To see what went on in that Stadium. People taking turns applying CPR to this well deserving man lying in the dirt. Frank giving commands and Burt giving James words of encouragement, Man I'm still crying. And all the LOVE, CAREING, and the RING of PRAYERS and there was other teams holding hands and praying on the other field. I will always remember That Moment in my LIFE. Way to Go Senior Softball we are a Family of Ball Players. We are MY Brothers Keep.

I've played against James for many years and have respected his professionalism as a gentalman on the field. This season I had the honor of being James' teammate. I can tell you, first hand, James is a prince. And I was lucky to have him as a teammate.

My wife and I would like to offer James' family our deepest condolences.

Thank you James,

As you cab probably imagine the last few days have been pretty overwhelming. On Sunday Team LAF lost a true friend and teammate in James Washington. The amount of calls I have received from people who knew James has been unbelievable, this goes to show what a wonderful man James was both on and off the field. Team LAF would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Ron-Manager LAF
