rating change or lose players
we as a team were re-rated in March 2010 after getting our clocks cleaned by every Major we played last year but one. Now we try to play as a AAA team and are told we have to lose two of our players or play Major. One of the guys played with us all last year and an the other played 55 AAA. We have a choice between losing team mates or losing games, what a choice. Anyone else have to choice or problem.

You are supposed to get at least 3 tournaments to see if you are placed in the right classification for the new year. The game is played on the field not on paper.

The fact that they are telling you to drop players/friends to stay at your current classification is ridiculous and is not stated anywhere in the SSUSA ratings guidelines.

JBTexas, Although if you pickup a few players that have played Major, you should be able to make the jump.

Jawood, we were the only 60 major team in Texas last year. Not many options for additions.

JB: Players rated as Major+ impact player can only play on Major or Major+ teams. If you want to play with Major+ players on your roster, your team needs to step up and play major.
You can't have it both ways, either play at the AAA level with AAA players or move up to Major if you want to carry Major+ players on your roster.

08 2011, I believe you can only drop from a team's roster once a year. That said, you can play on multiple teams if they are in different age groups. For instance I'm 61 so I can play on a 50, 55 and 60 team.
I also think that you can play on a team, say 50+ in SSUSA, and another 50+ team in ASA. You can probably do this with all associations. So I can see a player playing on 15 or more teams.

JBTexas dont hold your breath about getting rid of a couple of players and still staying AAA thats what was told to gonzales inslation (TX).
they were told to get rid of one player or get moved to majors , the dropped the player, won one tournament and still got moved to majors, so good luck.

plus you know our team texas pickups is A AA team ( you all have run ruled us a couple of times) but kept us AAA after our appeal. they have 4 of us rated as major players from teams we have never played for, they wont even address the issue says we are stuck where we are go figure. but they drop a team down to AAA that have beat us every time and tun ruled us twice so there you are , some guys who played with us all year dropped out so as not to waste there money in a blood bath in phoenix but as i said before we will show up.

The rules for rating are clear cut in the SSUSA rules. They may be clear cut in writing, but not clear cut in their application.

Some teams are told that they are allowed a certain amount of higher rated players on their team. Some teams are told 2 Major players on a AAA team and some are told 5. What is the answer here? Some times players played on a Major team, but were not a Major type player. How is this evaluated. Probably on a case per case basis. Who knows or who even cares any more. I have decided that I just do not care to figure it out any longer. I am 60 and just happy to be playing, and have a great time with the guys on my team. 10 years from now, I will not even remember who won or the score, but I will remember having a great time traveling and playing at least 5 games.

I will tell you one more thing about ratings that makes no sense at all. There was a team that won the Phoenix Worlds(I was told) in the Major division and properly got moved to Major Plus. The next year at the Phoenix Worlds, this team is playing in the Major division again. OK, there could be a very good reason for this, but I doubt it. The reason that I doubt it will be made very clear here. That team finished 6th or 7th in the tournament. As soon as the new ratings came out, they were placed back into the Major Plus rating?? Go figure that one out guys. The reason to bring this up is there is no reason to rack your brains about ratings any more, because there are no clear cut rules that we can figure out.

Many of you know my previous team, and we got bumped up before we could win some big tournaments and win a ring. After 8 1/2 years with the same guys, we finally put it all together and were going to win some rings. No, it was not going to happen. The problem is that we got bumped up to Major, before we had a chance to do it. No need to go into all of the details, but we basically got screwed here. Today, the point I am going to make here is that all of the rings we could have won, does not matter at all to me now. What makes me satisfied is that we are perceived as the best AAA team in the USA that year. Yes I wanted to win a ring or 2, but it is much more satisfying to still hear many players come to me in tournaments today, and say that we all know you were the best AAA team that year. I do not remember all the teams that won rings, but to remember our team as the best that never got the chance to actual win one, to me is priceless. Thank you to all that continue to tell the guys that played on that team. In conclusion, if I want a ring, I will go one. In fact, in most ring tournaments, you buy your own anyway. I guess I can say thanks to SSUSA for saving our team a lot money.

Let's all have a great time in Phoenix. It will be fun to see and play teams that we usually do not see throughout the year. Erwin, I am looking forward to that salmon BBQ on Friday night!!

how can a person be rated,if they are not keeping stats.just playing on a team does not make a person a major player or higher.i know of a bunch of guys in that boat then.hell on our AAA team this yr we had a couple guys that had played on a M+ team at one time, did it make us M+ players, not really, only in name i guess.
LP i see your dilemma.

It is ridiculous to move a team up BEFORE they win a national tournament.

Andy-you make an interesting point. Our Desperados do not keep stats-we just fill in the squares and write down hr's, most of the time. Does SSUSA keep the stats at tourneys? Do players ever get moved up when a team doesn't in the eyes of SSUSA? If they do, do they notify that player? I hope I am not being redundant asking these questions.
