Posted | Discussion |
Jan. 20 garyaz 40 posts | Reading all the talk about senior bats I was wondering if you care if the bat is made in China or the USA. If there was a pure USA made bat (I don't know if the UII is) would you buy one provided it had the performance. |
Jan. 20 Dabigdawg3 67 posts | YES.....alot of bats are now made in China. But would rather buy USA PRODUCTS FIRST! |
Jan. 20 ju25 Men's 60 236 posts | Mikens are made in the USA and Combats are made in Canada. USA products first, not caring is what is killing are country. |
Jan. 20 garyaz 40 posts | I heard some say Miken has moved production to China. Maybe someone here can shed some light on that? |
Jan. 20 Capt Kirk 541 posts | Yes I care, I buy all of my bats from Corky, our Miken Rep, who lives in San Marcos, TX. I recommend that all of the players on our team buy their bats from him. Corky comes out to some our league practices, puts on a hitting clinics. shags some balls, hits some, and pitches. Buy USA products. |
Jan. 20 ju25 Men's 60 236 posts | Miken still advertises on their facebook page as the made in USA company. |
Jan. 20 Al33 Men's 55 183 posts | You bet I care!! If I can buy anything made in the USA I will, even if it costs more. While I realize it's becoming increasingly difficult to buy made in America, I will go out of my way to find it. Support the USA should be all our motto's. It's a positive step in helping to turn our country around to what it once was. GOD BLESS THE USA. |
Jan. 20 Marv19 Men's 60 498 posts | I have explained this before. If part of a product (barrel and Handle) is made outside the USA and another part of the product (cap) is made and or assembled in the USA then you can stamp made in USA. No names but over 95% of all carbon fiber bats have components made in china. In Racing there is an ignition product. BIG company now by the name of MSD. I rep'd the company in its beginning. They are in El Paso. The casting says made in USA. Take the fancy casting off and look at the circuit board and it will say made in Mexico. Assembly is done on the USA side manufacturing is done in Mexico about 5 miles away. Is it right? I can tell you this its legal. You be the judge but its been going on for a very long time. Because someone says to its made in USA they may just mean legally not technically. If your motivation was the bat is made here then don't be fooled into believing you have a made in USA bat. You just may not.... |

Jan. 20 garyaz 40 posts | Here's hoping one of these companies can make a true USA bat. In the meantime we have to get what we can. |

Jan. 20 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Anderson bat company did with the alloy bats for sure, not sure where their composites stand. |
Jan. 20 Hombre33 3 posts | Well my Reebok ME'LEE Senior Bat Fell apart I had about 45 hits on it, I am not for sure but I think this bat was made in China, Be Careful if you are thinking of buying one I would not do it, You are better off with a Miken these Reebok bats are not Durable. |
Jan. 21 stick8 1992 posts | When Japan captured the bulk of the electronics industry starting back in the 60's and forward they faced a lot of heat from the pro-american crowd (and still do to this day). To counter this the Japanese town that housed one of the largest plants that produced these products was re-named USA. So what they would do is put a stamp on their products that read "Made in USA" True story. |
Jan. 21 Al33 Men's 55 183 posts | stick8 True story but, at the same time a Sad one. |
Jan. 21 stick8 1992 posts | AI33 I totally agree with your sentiment. Being a global economy, the cost of doing business here became excessively high and unfortunately still is. It's like a class E team playing Resmondo. When you can't compete, you can't compete. |
Jan. 21 softballnuts 81 posts | stick8 Snopes claims the story is "FALSE". http://www.snopes.com/business/genius/usa.asp |
Jan. 23 stick8 1992 posts | Softballbuts, whether it's true or not our laws specify that products have to have a sticker or stamp of the couintry of origin on it. As satirical as that might sound, it's also deceitful. Recently we were out to dinner with a few other couples when one guy complained about a coffee mug he was drinking out of that had "China" stamped on the bottom. "It seems like everything comes from China". I countered by saying "No, what you have there is fine China" :) |
Jan. 24 garyaz 40 posts | I think one of the bat companies is in the process of moving production back to the USA. |
Feb. 5 garyaz 40 posts | Here is what I have heard; UII CHINA but finished in USA Combat - Canada Everyone else - CHINA I did hear one of the senior bats companies is about to open a factory in the USA....cool |
