Houston, Tx. Saturday noon, about 65 degrees. A woman who plays in the league swings an Ultra 2, which she had approximately 2 months(She removed it from the wrap). Hits a 44/375 ball and it breaks completely just above her hands. She has the handle in her hand and the rest goes flying. Personally, I love the Utlra 2 but that was not good advertising for it. I have seen many men swing and break one, usually on or near the sweet spot, but have never seen one break apart like this one. Anyone else ever seen one break like this? Lot of money for a 2 month old bat and broken by a woman. Guess, the guys just aren't strong enough to break them like this. lol

Yea-- a couple of years ago, but mine lasted a bit longer than 2 months. Mine did not break completey in two pieces but did end up in a 90 degree angle half way up the bat.

I broke 1 last year in July in the very 1st swing I ever put on it, in a game. I went through 3 differert Ultra's last year with a total of 270 swings on them.
I can't afford to swing them anymore.

I had a Worth Toxic break like that just above the tape. At least mine was almost a year old and had plenty of swings on it. BUT, I've never broken a bat that way before!

Free agent,
There are two issues inregards to a bat's durability. Warranty is an issue that has to do with normal wear and usage. The UII has no warranty. However, when a bat breaks like you described it is a different issue. That bat was defective and ALL poducts including a non warranty bat have comsumer protection if the product was defective. When calling the company explain that you know the difference and that this bat was defective. They should replace it. LMK

Yes it was my broken Ultra2. It would have been funny if it hadn't been my bat!

My girlfriend and I had used the same Ultra2 since 2005. Unfortunately many in our league's members borrow instead off buy, so with a little help from our friends that one broke in 2010.

As for the one she broke in practice a couple of weeks ago, I pulled it out of the closet where it had set since 2005 (bought a set in 05) and, well... I got a little creative (rough) in the break-in process. That plus the fact that I was having an issue with hitting on the taper all month in December probably didn't help. So when it broke on her in that exact spot it didn't supprise me much.

Mu ultra 2 broke about an inch above the grip. It looked like someone had sawed thru it. Clean break, this happened in Vegas last year I took it over to the table where they were selling Miken bats and gloves and was told to call Miken and it would be replaced because you could see where on side of the bat was thicker than the other and this was a defect. You can guess what happened when I contacted Miken was told no warranty. One of my teamates bought one in St George and ussed in a couple of games and when we got home he took it out of his bag a noticed it was cracked Miken told him the same thing. I would have to think real hard before I bought another Miken bat
