Gee Chris, I've been trying to get you to do this for over a year. And now say you're interested. You would not say what you had in mind for seniors when I asked you? What gives. You do offer alot, but you concentreate on the younger set.
PS thanks for the questionable zip files

This is your chance for imput as to what you want in an association. Bats, Balls, Homeruns, Classifications, Formatts, etc.

Masters and Seniors let us know what we can do for you!!!!!!!!

Hold a bunch of tournaments and do not restrict players. I am told that once again next year people like me will not be able to play so allow Major Plus teams to pick up one or two players from outside their area.

This hard headed stance by these senior associations is doing nothing but killing the game. We seniors should be allowed to play.

44/525 softballs, 1.20 bats, Major Plus level 7 homeruns then 1 up with singles, Major 5 hr's then 1 up with singles, AAA, 3 hr's then 1 up with singles, AA 1 up. 7 run limit on innings except the last with a chance to tie in each inning.

Walk don't know you but that rule keeping you from playing is ridiculous. I have been waiting for a change on the rule allowing 1 pickup. Is your source reliable that there won't be a rule change allowing a pickup. I was going to attempt putting a team together actually I had 8 fellows with an out of stater and we were going to attempt later next year, still may but keeping friends from having an excuse to get together when for the most part if you stay below the radar in all but Seniors there are no problems. Good Luck.

WALK,
I here what you're saying. Maybe there should be an Elite Division that has no roster restrictions.

Elite, Major, Plus, and Recreation divisions. Rules as such that sandbagging in the recreation is discouraged.

I think that you'll find WSA does respond to it's players. They already allow the 1.20 bats, 47/525 ball, (2006) 44/525. Pitcher halo with safety rule. The most liberial homerun rules of any association.

The run cap per innning I think is a good. 5 per each division with the Elite cap being 10.

I am waiting for the final death sentence to be passed formally but my source is usually right on. Even if one association allows the one player pick up it does not mean all will.

The elite idea is great.

Fran,
It was a good rumor about two months a go but not it seems the only associations that will allow players to play are going to be
SSWS, USSSA, ASA, NSA, Huntsman, and the new WSA.

Nothing is final yet and there is still hope the SSWC and the SPA will jump on board (one player on a major plus team cannot hurt anything) but that will not be decided until after the first of the year.

Brian,
Hope all goes well, I've always remember that your R. knee? was bad. And here I thought all this time you were playing with MAC Const...
As for the WSA Senior ball, I look foward to playing it... But my only concern is if you approve the use of the UII. Then maybe only use YELLOW 40/375 COR. ball. I've play WSA "C/D" and that P Halo in Senior's and with a Higher COR. ball may not work. JMO.

Jose,
It was always the left knee. Will return after knee replacement surgery.
Was with MAC up until 2005, six years total with Byrons/MAC. Did play the 45 National with them in 2005.
We're looking at and listening to all options but it appears most want the Ultra 2. I think the ball is going to be a 44/400 and the halo might be tinkered with as to find a balance between giving the players what they want but providing as much safety as posible.
We'll put this together for the Jan 7, 2006 tournament and welcome all feedback, positive or negative.

CVSSA ,my start up assn. It is and should also be considered for your senior tournament play. Even though Chris is a good guy, I am a senior player, Chris is not. I allow all level of players and teams in, as long as there is equality between the teams that will be bracketed to play against ech other. In order for this to take place and make it work fairly. The managers need to be honest in what they send to the tourney director about the team and payers on the roster. No team wants to go to a tournament and be thrown into a game where they are shut out and basically rediculed because they lost the way they did. Hurts the players and the game all around. If you enter as a AA team don't go playing major players on it, be honest about the whole package.
I allow all the 1.20 bats, but for the Grey Ultra, But have a interest page about them and other tourneys on my web site. www.cvssa.org I use 47\525 balls, both yellow and white.
I also use the one up rule for HR's, all others are a single. I have both run-through and sliding style, depending on teams that enter. No mercy rule, but would consider it after 4 or 5 innings depending on teams that were entered in for that bracket. It's bad enough to loose by xXx number of runs, but why rub it in their face. So there are times it is a good rule. All info should be available on my site except about this rule. www.cvssa.org If you need info, I'm available and reply back pretty fast unless gone for a tournament. We have one listed for Granite Park , Fresno's FOD\BLD park Feb.18-19th. Info for it and 7 other dates are listed on web page.

Geeezer#6,
I'm going to call you out on this one. Play our Elite division in Seniors. That division is opened up. Ultra 2, 10 homeruns per team, no roster retrictions. Lets see what you have.

WSA has and will always have rules to provide protection for the pictcher position.

Taits,
You're right Chris doesn't play Seniors. Knowing that limitation he has relied on those in the know. People that play Seniors. To that end we have ask and received feedback from players as to what the really want.

Not saying we're better, but we would say we're a viable option.

To: WSA SENIOR SOFTBALL PROGRAM or is it also Smokey.

There have been several discussions on protecting pitchers. JMHO is 'if protecting pitchers is really an issue' the only way to protect them is put a 2 foot wide screen they can get behind.
Now Guys, please do not flame me on this. I am not trying to be controversal. When a hitter with decent power gets the good swing on the sweet spot the ball will be on the pitcher and by before a glove can be moved for at least 50% of pitchers.

Like I ask above, please don't flame me over this. A screen to me will be the final and last thing you could do to protect the pitcher. I just bypassed all other steps.

Crusher, Gary,

The screen has been brought up as well as the status of the Ultra2. Again, we're trying to find a balance based on the intial feedback from players.

WSA has always listen to the players that support the program. If opinions and circumstances change then I believe WSA will adapt. I submit lets give it a few tournaments and review what we have.

They will allow the pitcher to use a trapper in Canada this year but I can't see how it will help any. I think a pitcher would be best off with a small light glove so he can move his/her hand faster

I beleive ASA changed its rules this year to allow any position to use a 1B mitt. I'm basing this on what I've read on other boards, not from reading the rules myself. As big as regular gloves have gotten, I don't really see how a 1B mitt would provide any more protection.
