Some people here use the Game Face by Markwort. They also make a heart guard.

Some of the young guys wear a full helmet pitching. It limits their peripheral vision, and they get overheated. Besides you only need the back of the helmet if you turn around and run away from a batted ball. I hope none of you do that.

I USE A LACROSSE HELMET,AFTER I GOT HIT IN THE FACE IN MY FAST PITCH LEAGUE.IT'S LIGHT WEIGHT AND HAS 13 OPENINGS FOR VENTILATION. THE BRAND IS CASCADE CPX.THIS IS WHAT I DID WITH THE FACE GARD,I CUT THE SECOND BAR FROM THE TOP,SIDE TO SIDE AND TOP TO BOTTOM.IS A 3 INCH HOLE THAT YOU CAN SEE PERFECT.

g-33 i use the worth pitching helmet,it is light, has air vent holes on top and has good vision.i also use a rip-it mask,it is all metal and not plastic, unlike the combat, gameface,i just don't trust the plastic masks....

speedy a softball is only 3" diameter,making that hole a little risky,maybe.....

i also use a skullcap when wearing either of them....

Gary33, I use the Game Face. I would prefer the Rip-It mask, but found it was too small for my head. It is designed for women's fastpitch, and although it has better visibility than the Game Face, it was just too tight on my head. There is a visibility problem at the bottom of the Game Face where it is hard to pick up grounders. Rip-It eliminates most of that problem. If someone can tell me that Rip-It is making masks for men, I would try it again. Unlike mad dog, I don't use a skull cap, just turn my cap backwards.

mad dog, I envy you. Only way to tell if a mask will work is to go to a sporting goods store and slip it on. I made the mistake of ordering the Rip-It because it, like all such masks, is adjustable. It just wasn't adjustable enough to work for me, so I sold it to a guy with a smaller head. My head is not enormous, but bigger than average, I guess.
