Topic: Teams looking for players
Discussion: Looking for a couple of players for St George

Good Evening,

We are a 50 AA team from Southern California looking for a couple of players for St George. Need 1 outfielder and 1 utility player.

Here is the twist: I am restricted to players that equal 50AA, I am not allowed any 50AAA chips since we were recently dropped down to 50AA.

So, if you are 55AAA player whose team is not going to St George, but you still want to, let me know.

Thanks,

Bill Dodge

Discussion: Anyone know of a score keeping app for iOS that allows 11. Fielders at a time?

My apologies, my brain kicked in on 11 and ignored the word "fielders".

I don't know that you will find one that will handle 11 fielders since it is an anomaly to normal softball.

I have heard rumor that there is another stat/team management software in the works.

email me at hc50ssoftball@gmail.com

Did you look at GameChanger?

Discussion: Are possible changes ahead for future TOC tournaments

Staff

A suggestion might be to get some feedback from the membership before renewing or extending.

In my opinion, the TOC should be centrally located in the US making the travel time equal for all. Some of the teams from CA that I know have qualified and opted out is due to cost and time so close to the end of the holidays.

Just my humble opinion ( but still hoping to qualify for TOC some day).

Discussion: New Glove - Break in

I am sure there is information all over the forums, but I don't have the patience to search for it....

I recently got a brand new glove from Arizona, and was curious as to what players are using as a best practice for break in, and how long break in periods are for most gloves today.

Thank you

Bill

Discussion: looking for a 55 AAA so cal

To all:

Patrick played for us last year, he is a quality team mate and extremely intelligent hitter.

Hits for average but can add power when it is necessary.

He is a good addition to any team.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Discussion: In your whole softball career who was the individual(s) (coach, player, relative, etc) who had the most impact on your approach, development and how you play the game? And why?

My father - for always being around and teaching me to be humble, yet leave EVERYTHING on the field.

Craig - a coach I played slow pitch with for 10+ years. Taught me how manage and lead by example.

My Team mates for sticking with it through thick and thin.

Dudley Lightning - comes with balanced or end load options. Good durability so far. I get more pop than with my Worth SR Legit.

Discussion: 2 FLEX or NOT 2 FLEX

Here is my thought process, keeping in mind I coached High School golf for 10 years and my kid played in college and worked at Roger Dunn for 4 years.

I look at it this way. Do I have the swing speed to swing stiff shafts in a golf club, no. Therefore I swing regular shafts.

I have had more success using a 2 piece or endloaded bat than I have had swinging a heavier balanced bat.

Hope that helps.

Dave,

Thanks!

Does that mean that 4 teams might play 4 games on Friday?

Discussion: Session #3

Good Morning,

I know everyone is swamped with Session #1 and #2 at this point, but wanted to ask if we can assume the draft of Session #3 is close to the set schedule?

I want to send out the email to my team with all details and don't want to cause confusion by sending it out once, then having to update later.

Thank you again for all of your hard work on this event.

E6 .... Funny... I've played against you enough and don't recall seeing any E6's.

Best of luck in Vegas.

Discussion: Opinions about custom glove makers....

Up until about a year ago I had a Glovesmith glove (lasted 10 years), and have tried off the shelf gloves but can't find one I like.

I was looking at Gloveworks and SX3. Has anyone had any experience good or bad with either. In order to comply with SSUSA rules about sales, please send me your answer to my email hc50ssoftball@gmail.com

THanks,

Bill

Discussion: When?

Staff,

While I know you weren't concerned about the year, just figured I would help so you didn't get hammered.

As far as definitive statements, I agree that's why I never use them.

Thanks for the well wishes in Vegas.

As stated, the only concern I have on fields is making sure that the grass on the grass fields at Shadow Rock is edged in a straight line down the foul lines.

Worlds is an arduous process for you all, best of luck to you all too.

Not to nit pick, but it was Southwest Championships in April 2014... April 2015 50AAA was at Shadow Rock.

Midnight Madness would be fun.

Discussion: Dave. need to rebracket San Clemente 65aaa division

My 2 cents...

Every tournament has its "issues".. its impossible to make everyone happy, BUT, at the same time, this is the ONLY SSUSA event in Orange County at this point.

Its in a good location during the heat of summer where we could be playing in Hemet.

As far as cost, ASA and USSSA charge almost as much for 3 GG events in Southern California.

I also know for what the City of San Clemente charges for those fields.... its one of the more expensive venues in Orange County.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the running of this event, just wanted to add mine.

Played League ball and So Cal Municipal Federation Tournaments for years with lead offs after it leaves pitchers hand... no stealing, but force play coming back if you take off on a swinging strike...

Just asking...

Discussion: No Lead Offs

I have a question.... and maybe its been asked before and answered but I have only been playing Senior Ball for 2.5 years...

I know the base paths were lengthened a few years back from 65 to 70 feet.... But I have always been curious as to why there are no lead offs...

It seems to me, that as we age, what hurts our legs more than anything is stopping and starting. I know that's what kills my knees.. A walking start to get to full speed running the base paths seems to me would have less wear and tear and potentially reduce injuries ( pulled hamstrings... etc ).

This could be just my perception with no medical basis.

Thanks
