Discussion: ISA, Gallatin,

Let me add my 2 cents to Gallatin. The grounds crew did a wonderful job getting the fields ready,BUT once they started to dry, they needed to work on them again. They got very hard and had many bad bounces. The outfields were terrible, for a national tourney.Four of the fields had "temp" fences. Very poor ran tourney.50 and 55 major and major+,playing on the fields with 300' fences,BUT AAA & AA Played on fields with 340' fences. We should not have tourneys with fences that deep. You build a team for certains things.
I must say the Umps were very good,They knew our special rules and tried there best to be in position to make the calls.
I think all of us need to reconsider going to the ISA national until they have a new person running it.2 years now and it has been messed up.

Corky, this is Paul from the 55 team. Those dates in June, conflict with Shelbyville. The Louisville tourney is the previous week.I think we might head to South Bend and the SPA tourney there.I'm sure we'll stay with Shelbyville due to the closeness

Discussion: To the SSUSA staff

Glad this was brought to our attention. We the teams make a schedule based on these web sites then things change.Brett said it exactly,3 weekends in a row,WON'T cut it someone will loose out.Original dates worked great for spacing tournaments out.So why was this changed.

Discussion: team ratings?

I don't think SSUSA has any idea.If they did why would tell us.We ARE the guys that pays entrance fees, card fees,oh yea there expenses. Sure would be nice if they did know to let the team manager know so they could atleast see if they need to look for a player or two. This just goes with alot of other things going on with these assoc. We pay the money and put up with anything they or tournaments directors do, because WE LOVE TO PLAY THIS GAME

Discussion: Tournament Locations

If anyone noticed they moved the Midwest championship from Champaign too Chicago.Champaign had VERY nice fields and good prices on rooms. Now we go to Chicago, where are we playing, who knows how much for expense there. There also is a new Northern championship in Lanshing.A few years back they had the Eastern championship in East Lashing VERY nice fields.Last year we went to a tourney in Lanshing, terrible fields.
Here are some ideas to kick around and maybe push to SSUSA and SPA.Let the teams know where we are playing BEFORE we pay good money. Have a timetable set up in advance so you know when your games might be.We all can tell about poorly ran tournaments, but the powers to be,just let the same individuals take our money and expect us to put up with it.
Just some more things all of you to think over.

Discussion: RULE CHANGES...COMMENTS

Here we go again, change the rules because we can not control teams from loading up.We all know teams that should be playing up,we also know teams that can't move down.I have no problem with a HR limit,BUT after that amount make them singles or walks. We all know, with these bats we love to use, there are many HR that are purely by accident. Is there a answer, who knows.I just hate when after the "summit"there are these rule changes, that we the players have no commits in. Sure would be nice to have some input in these changes.

I also hope the player comes through this fine. I am from the area, where he is from and know this guy.THANKFULLY they had a defliblerator.I was also at a tourney in Lanshing where a guy had a heart attack and they had NONE.I am a fireman and know how these can save lives.I believe US as players make some noise and make it a requirement, that ALL tournaments at ALL fields have these on hand. Again hope the player gets well soon.

Discussion: RAINOUT IN ISA NATIONALS IN BRIDGETON MO

May i add a few words to this.As far as the rain,it rained hard for 15 min,i talked to a few of the umps, who said they were good fields to dry,i doubt that.I was in St Louis on Wed of last week and it rained, the fields were still wet and muddy Fri morning.ALSO there was MORE rain coming on Sun.
My problem with this tourney director were the "extra fields".They were bad,one field had a 270' fence,it was high though. An those plastic fences,i went over a part of the "snow" and came within a foot of getting one of the post in my side.I feel they would have been better off not even having any fences on these fields and just run everything out.
One more thing why was not all of the seed games done on Fri.Teams had to show up early on Sat just to find out they wern't going to play till the afternoon. The other side our teams was given 5 min warning of our game time, and the umps would give us NO warm up time.
Oh well just another senior tourney, and to many screw ups

Discussion: MIDWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS

Question, for people going to Louisville. They cut it off at 18 teams, using 2 feilds. 4 games per team times 18 teams is 72 games. You start at 8 in the morning and play till 10 at night on 2 feilds, that is only 60 time periods.I hope they come up with more feilds.
