Discussion: Las Vegas Fields and Umpires

Sunset Park was not ready to host a tournament. Two porta pottys never cleaned once in 3 days (disgusting). Several of our wives came a long way to support our team and left after the first day or never came at all based on the facilities. Construction in progress also made it difficult on the fans. No double bag at first caused major controversy and problems (unacceptable). Umpires.....good calls and bad. Only suggestion is...make a call and stick with it. Enforce the correct game rules. Pros: ground crew tried to goom the infields between games and outfields were nice.

Steve...db again. My bad i got a bit wordy. Still suffering our loss to you at the Western Worlds. What i way trying to express was... It was not necessary that a ball go 400' but one that will remain hard and fair in 85 degree + temperature conditions.

Steve both observations listed above are equally correct. Simply put the Trump Stote above 85 degrees is garbage and has become widely known for this problem. The ROCK which is our primary BP ball several days a week agreeably shows occasional severe signs of knuckling.. however holds up very well in the heat. There is one ball (and I'm sure others) on the market that absolutely will hold up in temps 100 degrees and up. This is the FIRE ball made by Baden (not the Lexum). Unfortunately Baden is not a SSUSA sponsor which therein lies the question of cost and economics. Personally and i cannot speak for others it is not a ball that will go 400' as some believe or suggest but one that will remain hard and fair in 85 degree + temperature conditions.

1 and 1 count.....terrible idea !!!!! Too many other options (as discussed on the board) to save time and try first . What's the hurry!

Discussion: Grading the Rule Changes

Webbie, personally i would not worry too much about what you read here on the board as you well know there are only a handful of those who post here vs. the huge numbers out there that make up the senior softball numbers. Trust me there are many behind the scenes who are quite vocal. The main culprit of the shortened games was the runs per inning. Regarding the 1 and 1 count a survey will be going out via SSUSA seeking input from those who receive it. Just a guess but i believe it will be voted down, however just my guess.

Just for the record....NOT every league begins with a 1 and 1 count. A very competitive and extensivenly tournament player filled league in the greater Sacramento area tried the 1 and 1 for several years. It was determined that there was not any significant time savings, the players did not welcome the change and the league voted to return to the 0 and 0 count for 2013.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can play this game all day long. TRY comparing apples with apples. Or at least justify your case.

I know and hope most of you guys are all bright enough not to get suckered into a poor judgement purchase. True also... if not interested don't respond. However to "the answer" we can all play the copy and paste ebay game all day long. This is not a rare bat. Taking no sides here just offering a heads up.

To my fellow softball players....yes bat warmers do work. Especially so on senior bats due to the thickness/thiness of their barrels. All of the above recommendentations are in fact prudent as well. Also no need to pay $50 or more for one. If you are creative and observant you can make your own. Just my personal experience and in no way scientific however they have allowed me to add a bit more life to my bats. Hope this helps. Gary 19 no need to chirp in on this one but i'm sure you will.

Discussion: Why give an award if it doesn't reflect outcome

hitt2 My response was to also clarify your incorrect statement regarding the fees! In addition your coach was given by the tournament director the option then and most recently via phone to correct the lack of the word "champions" on the shirts. On both occasions he declined. This was not a deliberate or vindictive act towards your team in any way. An unintentional mistake may have been made and several times offered to be rectified. I highly recommend that you or your coach contact the tournament director directly to clear the air.

Discussion: Why give an award if it doesn't reflect outcome

Hitt2...Just to set the record straight: (1) Your coach was awarded the shirts with the explicit option that if he/team did not like the ones provided the tournament director would have additional shirts made for your team. Also instead of the standard 15 shirts your specific team was given several more for your extra players. (2) Your coach/team was also awarded a plaque for your winning of your division. (3) Finally your entry fee was NOT the $500 plus as you stated but rather $300. Suggest you may wish to get your facts correct or at a minimun confir with your coach prior to going public on a message board.
