Shark:
Nice job of getting games in and scores out with a 50+ turnout for the tournament.
Getting the results of eight division winners out the next day with one director proves a point:
If you have a tournament and tournament director who takes a genuine interest in his tournament and the teams attending, he will make the effort to get the results out quickly,'If not, you will wait until Hell freezes over for results.
I hope SSUSA teams take notice of your well run and team/player friendly tournament and pack the place in 2018.
Nice job and thanks for the results.

Discussion: Changing Format for 70 Year Old Division

We used to do the double elimination tournament and found we also were having 70+ teams playing four games a day. We switched to a three-day round robin format in which teams play six different AA/AAA teams (two games a day).
It seems to be very popular.
For Thee Buckeye Classic this year we have TEN 80's,TWENTY 75's and SEVENTEEN 70's which has been pretty normal. This is just a regular regional tournament not a national or world event.
We also allow teams if we have open fields on the first two days and they want to switch one of their third day game to it and their opponewnt agrres we will do so. But NEVER MORE than THREE games a day.
It works for us. 80's only play 80's; 75's play 75's and 70's play 70's all AA or AAA teams. We do have a 75 Major bracket (play each other twice) because it is difficult for 75 Major teams to find a 75M tournament.
Teams also know their schedule for all six games at least one week in advance and the teams entered list is posred daily on our web site.
We are filled for this year.

Discussion: and ideas concerning "where to place teams in tournaments"

Best solution is do not invite majors unless you have four. We have 92 teams at Thee Buckeye Classic with only FOUR MAJORS in the 75...figured they probably couldn't find a tournament they could play unless we set it up.
Equalizers do not favor the lower team. It is like giving 70% handicap in a bolwing league. You aren't giving anything you are keeping 30 %.
That said, I appreciate your problem SSUSA and SPA is top heavy AAA and low on AA and MAJOR. ISSA is different, you just tell them where you want to be rated and pay your entry fee.
Both SSUSA and SPA need to move more top AAA'S to MAJOR and bottom AAA'S to AA and balance the structure to avoid PERL's situation which is standatd happenings in most senior tournaments.

Discussion: National Senior Games In Birmingham AL

Save your money no team rating,s, everyone the same rating, very little turnout.
Played in Palo Alto a few years ago and the other seven teams in our age group were from md, ny and nj.
Awards are medals.
Huntsman games are five times better. In June there are better Ssusa and spa tournaments. We didn't,t even go to the Cleveland tournament national senior games and it was only 35 Miles away

Discussion: The 1 day Tourney Movement

Different days for different ages.

Thee Buckeye Classic (an 80-team round robin tournament in Barberton,Oh)runs three days for 75 and 80 (they play two games a day). That said, they also have the option if there are open fields in any of the three days, they may move one of their games to those open spots, which could make it a two-day tournament. But it their option, their health.
We usually draw arounf six 80's and sixteen 75's (AAA).

The rest of the divisions (AA and AAA) play two days (three games a day). Only AA and AAA teams and they only play games against teams in their own age and rating division. We can do it because we usually have at least 14-to-16 teams in each age group (which normally is the maximum we can handle).

We also schedule our 50 and 55's for Saturday and Sunday and the 60's Friday and Saturday (best we can do for them).

As I said we are a round robin (six games against six different teams all in your own age and rating class). We would never be able to do it if we were a double-elimination tournament. We know who will be playing who, what time and what fields for their their three games each day (rwo day tournament).

It is more difficult for double-elimination. What do you do for teams who after playing three pool games. lose their first bracket game and then are forced to play five or six more to reach the finals in a two-day event? Might be great for 50 and 55, maybe 60. You are stretching your luck for 65, 70, 75 and 80.

SSUSA does a very good job watching out for the teams's health and enjoyment with the way their events are scheduled. If you want to change it, you should list a disclaimer sign sayong "Travel at your own risk"

Discussion: which do your prefer on a 5 game guarantee?

Joel
We have SIX 80's, a six and a seven team 75 division, a 4 team 75 major (only majors we invite). a seven and a seven 65 division, seven 50's, eight 55's, a seven and a seven 70's divisions and a seven and seven 60's division. All AA and AAA.
Little hard in the 60;s because for some reason thete is a shortage of 60 AA teams so we play them with the 65's which are not as strong as the other seven.

Which means 13 Divisions and 13 champions all who will have played six games Makes it easier scheduling. Our schedule has been up for two weeks and everybocy knows what time, what field and who they play. Can't do the with a DE.

Not looking for six team braclets in other divsions, just AA and AAA.

How about a six game round robin guaranreed six gmaes against six different teams from your own age and rating division, team with best record is the champ. We have been running our tournament that way the past six years and average around 80 AA and AAA teams (do not bring in majors). This year 80 teams. Always have at leasr 14 teams in each division with the exception of 80's (only six) and fields limit us to eight 50's and eight 55's. The 70's(16), 75's (17) and 80's play three days (2 games a day), the rest play two days (3 games a day)
