Discussion: Syracuse NY area

Biker:

Give me a call at (330) 336-3958, we have four SYRACUSE AREA teams (different ages) attending THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC in JUNE and I can put you in touch with a couple of 60's teams.

One thing you should know is the SYRACUSE area travel teams are not just good , they are very good (high AAA), so your playing ability should be at a high level also.

So give me a call, if they don't have a spot for you, they may be able to put you in contact with other SYRACUSE are 60's teams.

Give me a call at (330) 336-3958. We have SIX 50's AAA travel teams out of the 12 50's teams attending THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC in JUNE. I don't like to give contact info for those teams on the web site, but if you call me I can tell you who to contact.

Discussion: Proposed changes in our local league

Here is what I would do.

Make your league a draft league (you can divide it into an upper and lower division if you want), where ALL PLAYERS are drafted. There are NO "buddy" teams.

Now if the two powerhouses do not want to do it that way..they probably enjoy beating up on the rest of the League teams and winning all the goodies- let them go play travel ball and wish them well and thank them for their participation in the past. If they don't like that idea then they all go in the draft.

You have to decide if your league is for everyone to have a great time or for it to be a "feeding stop" fot a couple of teams that enjoy beating weaker competition and winning prizes but do not want to play travel ball against teams of equal ability.

Nancy:

I read the tag and continued down. Basing it that the writer stated they played mostly outfield which is the position MARY COOPER said in her post and in previous posts she mostly played while JIM in previous posts stated he played anywhere.

Either way they should each hook up with somebody.

I think this is MARY COOPER looking to play on a 55's woman's team. Anyway that is what her previous messages from 2011 refer to her as.

LP, did the TEXAS team also tell you that in the four games that they played they 4-0 and outscored their opponents 27.5 to 14.5 (15-13, 35-14, 26-11, 34-20). That may have played a factor in them being raised.

Discussion: Who Will Be Participating in the Southern Championships in Birmingham?

You are right it is about 1,000 miles to all those locations.

SSUSA dioes list the teams which will be attending their national tournaments (also some qualifiers if there are more than twenty-five teams). ISSA lists their teams for all tournaments while SPA does not list for any.

We (THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC) do list all the teams we are expecting for our JUNE event, starting in JANUARY (as they contact us to reserve a spot)and all the way until tournament time. This year we have also been listing teams for other mid-west SPA tournaments if the tournament TD asks us and gives us the info.

In 2015, you may want to consider making one long trip to either LOUDON COUNTY SSUSA (LEESBURG,VA)or to THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC (BARBERTON,OHIO) If you come up here guarantee you will see at least 12-to-16 other 70 AAA teams and you will play six games against six different teams (we play round robin). We draw between 75-85 AA and AAA teams in all divisions, we do not invite majors.

Send me a contact e-mail and I will put you on our mailing list. In the meantime check out our web site http://theebuckeyeclassic.com/

Good Luck

No, you are just picking the wrong ones. SSUSA LOUDON COUNTY had seven 70 AAA's, SPA BUCKEYE CLASSIC had 9, SPA SYLVANIA GREAT LAKES had 7 and SPA PEACHTREE CLASSIC had 7.
Those are all qualifiers.

Heard the same complaint about 80's going to tournaments and had to play 70's, same gripe for the 75's. Yet, the SPA WORLDS next week have THIRTEEN 75AAA's, FOUR 75 MAJORS and FIVE 80 AAA's.

There are tournaments out there, you just have to search and ask other 70, 75 and 80 teams where are they going to play and work it out to go to the saem place.

The problem is you have to decide if you want to pay $425 and travel 200 miles to play one team in your age.rating group or pay $425 and travel 400 miles to play seven and eight teams.

Next year make ceratin you put the SSUSA LOUDON COUNTY tournament on your list and go from there. Check with the other 70's and see where they are playing and go to those tournaments.

Discussion: Baton Rouge League

I think I would probably
(1. Call Marc Palmer, (225) 273-6401 (Number listed on the same page with the web site listing)
(2. Call the East Baton Rouge Parrish center (listed on their web site)
(3. Go down on Monday night to the field they show they play at (Oak Villa Sports Complex)

You should be able to learn something,,all depends on how anxious you are to play and how much effort you want to put out to find somewhere to play.

Good Luck

It looks like your pool play game for this usual 17-team tournament are two games. The 1, 2,3, etc are probably the bracket game numbers but I can see your problem if you can't find the brackets anyweher.

You usually only find team names and brackets on the SSUSA site for the bigger tournaments 20-25 plus teams and up that are run by the SSUSA office. It is up to the individual tournament directors to list the teams entered and bracket info on the SSUSA site,

Only ISSA lists all their tournament entries and brackets. SPA doesn't list any, they just contact the teams entered with the info a couple of weeks prior to the event.

Discussion: SPA World

The reasons I have heard are: (1. The length of the games in the major and major plus is much longer than the AA and AAA teams and becaues of it SPA is paying their umpires a higher rate to work those games. (SPA uses two umpires a game at the Worlds).
(2. Due to the length of the major and major plus games, SPA has also incresed the pay for scorekeepers who work those games.

Those are the reason I have heard.
