Can't tell you on the USSA website due to rules. Lets just say it isn't ISSA, ISA or SSUSA. Give me a call and I'll tell you where they are,

If you can keep a secret there are four senior tournaments in Ohio (Columbus 45 teams, Barberton 90 teams, Sylvania 50 teams, Dayton 35 teams) another in Shelbyville(44 teams) and one in Illinois (30). All in June and July,

Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS

I think you are stretching it a bit with the orange bags and fencing. However, insurance companies have accepted what you have pointed out as parts of the field (tripping on a bag, running into a fence, etc), a majority do not accept a screen as part of the field.

Maybe some do but others do not and more than likely they will have to eventually accept it,. But to play safe use the insurance companies that will insure the use of a screen and avoid the ones which will not.

Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS

Believe it or not, law suits are actualy why screens are not used rather than used. A screen is not considered part of the field and if a ball via a throw or hit deflects off the edge of the screen and happens to hit a player in the eye, some softball insurance policies will not cover the injury....because the screen is not part of the field.

That said, they have been using the screen in the Barberton Silver League for six years and no players are complaining. We do not use the screen at THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC due to the insurance "not part of the field" issue.

Personally I don't like the screen but I think the problem is more the bats. It is sort of funny to hear people say,"Screens are not part of the game, we should keep playing the way it was meant to be played."

I agree, let's use wooden bats the way softball was meant to be played.

Discussion: The Mid South NIT Cartersville Ga.

Just talked with PETE, they have 49 teams and they have back-up plans in place for a weather problem if any. Check with your manager for brackets and times, they should have already have that info.

Pretty good senior tournament turnout so far with 49 at Cartersville, 49 at the Brickyad, 48 at Glen Burnia and 91 at Barberton. Looks like a good year all around for SSUSA and SPA.

Discussion: Wondering about your team name; especially the unusual ones.

Back in my fast pitch days, the team I was on really didn't care if we won or lost. We just wanted to have fun and go out after the games to celebrate.

We were called "DILLIGAS" meaning "Does it look like I give a s_ _ _ ?"

Discussion: Syracuse NY area

Biker:

Give me a call at (330) 336-3958, we have four SYRACUSE AREA teams (different ages) attending THEE BUCKEYE CLASSIC in JUNE and I can put you in touch with a couple of 60's teams.

One thing you should know is the SYRACUSE area travel teams are not just good , they are very good (high AAA), so your playing ability should be at a high level also.

So give me a call, if they don't have a spot for you, they may be able to put you in contact with other SYRACUSE are 60's teams.

Discussion: Proposed changes in our local league

Here is what I would do.

Make your league a draft league (you can divide it into an upper and lower division if you want), where ALL PLAYERS are drafted. There are NO "buddy" teams.

Now if the two powerhouses do not want to do it that way..they probably enjoy beating up on the rest of the League teams and winning all the goodies- let them go play travel ball and wish them well and thank them for their participation in the past. If they don't like that idea then they all go in the draft.

You have to decide if your league is for everyone to have a great time or for it to be a "feeding stop" fot a couple of teams that enjoy beating weaker competition and winning prizes but do not want to play travel ball against teams of equal ability.

Nancy:

I read the tag and continued down. Basing it that the writer stated they played mostly outfield which is the position MARY COOPER said in her post and in previous posts she mostly played while JIM in previous posts stated he played anywhere.

Either way they should each hook up with somebody.

I think this is MARY COOPER looking to play on a 55's woman's team. Anyway that is what her previous messages from 2011 refer to her as.
