$500 a day for gambling (hopefully will win early and play on their money)

Discussion: Vegas Bracket 60's

Ill take your word for it..
Looks great online in pictures
Some of my guys played there 2 years ago when they had the water problem.
Looks like they have made great improvements.
YELP rates it number 1 for softball parks in Vegas.
I play on crappy fields every week in league so I am looking forward to playing there.

Discussion: Umpire Hit by a Batted Ball

It is a live ball since it was pass the infielders.
Just a little more info.. If it hits the umpire and a player catches it before it hits the ground, it is NOT an out. It is just like hitting the fence and then catching it. (I had it happen to me in a game)
Hope this helps

Which 55 teams are going the ISSA tournament in Huntsville, Al
on Sept 30, Oct 1-2?
It is the weekend after we go to Vegas.
(PS. you can use your 2017 roster)
They already have 4 teams in the 55 division.
Hopefully some other teams will come play

Stranger things have happened.
The 50 majors have played at BLD 3 years in a row.
My guys have never played there.
Hopefully we will this year.

Discussion: For SSUSA staff

Hey staff
Where can I find the rating chart? (the one that tells you what age/rating equals which age/rating.)
If I am correct, a 55 major = a 50 AAA player
I had the chart earlier, but I can not find it right now.
Thanks in advance

Discussion: Using screen for pitcher

Before some other rules.
Make sure your pitchers know that using the screen will lessen your skill when you play tournament ball. You get in a bad habit of moving to the left to get behind the screen.. FYI

Other rules we use
* If it hits the screen on the 3rd strike it is an out (This keeps players from just hitting the middle until they get a hit)
*If thrown making a play to home and hits the screen, if player is past the commitment line, he scores, if he hasn't gotten to the line yet, he goes back to 3rd
*It is mandatory in our league
* Pitchers can field the ball on the side of the screen ( I don't because I'm worries about it hitting the side and then hitting me)
Just my 2 cents worth.

Discussion: Eastern National game results

Just an idea (especially with todays technology)
Use a laptop and put up the scores on the bracket AS SOON as you get them from the umpires.
This way the results would be up right when the tournament is over and you don' have to set aside even one hour outside the tournament.
If you don't think this is possible, I can route you to tournaments that have over 150 teams and results are updated throughout the day as soon as the umps turn in the scores.
The tournament director or UIC has plenty of down time to do this.
As always, just my 2 cents worth.

Discussion: Where are all the teams??????

I have talked to MANY players in the same situation
(many on my team now)
I don't believe that a team should get moved up just for winning or placing high in Vegas. It should be over a 2 year stretch to make a move up.
Any team can just have a great weekend (getting all the breaks, etc) and should not be penalized for it.
If you dominate or even place high in many tournaments in 2 straight years, I do say make you move up... BUT when you move up an age group let the team start back at AAA if they want to. It is hard enough to field a team as you get older especially when you have to play major to start with and the team is really an AAA team.
Just my 2 cents worth as always.
Brett
PS You are correct about AL and Dale.. Both great ball players, but more than that, great people.

Discussion: Where are all the teams??????

I agree Tom, but we have to play here to go to Vegas
I wish that the other associations would get together and plan the weekend tournaments and spread them out so every tournament would get more teams.
At least they changed it where we don't have to play the one other 55 major team in the round robin as they had it scheduled.

CYA in Birmingham.
