The reason I asked is I saw a blue Centanarian in my senior league last Tuesday night. I had not seen it before. The guy using it was crushing the ball but he is a very big man and crushes with any stick.

Is the new Centenarian blue similar in color to the blue Macenko Gear?

Congrats Dave! A true gentleman and credit to the game either as an opponent or behind the plate.

Discussion: Western National Championships

Allan55, the tournament detail for Aurora shows only 41 teams signed up for the Rocky Mountain Championships. Deadline for entries was August 2.
Out Texas Makulis team played in the Western Nationals in Aurora last year and my wife and I really enjoyed the complex and the Aurora area! For us, it was a "drive" tournament, so expenses were not too bad.
I just got back from playing in the Western Nationals in Sacramento this year with Omen from California. Although there were 104 teams, as was stated above, most were from California (71 by my count). Not one Texas team was on the list. We played at the Sacramento Softball Complex and the fields were below par - all needed to be mowed and some were sopping wet from too much watering from the sprinkler system. Otherwise, the fields were well-maintained between games.
I would certainly support moving the Western Nationals back to Aurora.

Omen 65 Major Plus did not come close to hitting a home run in 6 games. However, I saw Ruth hit several in the Major class. The ball did not appear to be carrying much so line drives were imperative.

We played in the 65 division in the Western Nationals and concluded on Thursday. To date, I have seen neither seeding nor bracket results while the Eastern Championships which were played at the exact same time have FINAL results posted! Is Dave in NC? I know he was not in Sacramento. Is that the difference ?

Joe, if bad swings kill bats then I would have NONE left! My good swings are handle shots that spare the barrel!

Michigan and Rightrj, my experience with these two bats is just the opposite of yours. My Yellow MM was a good bat but it did not last me long. On the other hand, the Blue MM has been a great bat and is still going strong! I have had to reglue the end cap twice but this bat is still hitting them a long ways! And it is showing no signs of giving up the ghost yet (note: that is probably the kiss of death!).

Joe, I'm playing 60 Major in Dalton with the Texas Heat. The only 65 team I'm playing for is Omen out of CA. They are 65 Major Plus. Are you going to be playing with a 60 team in Dalton?

Just checked the SPA website for ANY information about when we play on THURSDAY. There is nothing available 5 days prior to the start of our 60 Major division. I've seen on this site that someone said there are 7 teams in the 60 Majors. That is all I've seen to date. I even called SPA HQ yesterday and was told they were working on the brackets. I do know the deadline was July 5 so we should have seen something this week.
Does anyone on this site know any particulars - I seem to be out of the loop.

We played an SPA tournament at this complex in early May and the same comments were made at that time. Pretty much exactly the same. AND the SSUSA Labor Day classic and the SPA World Series are scheduled for the same place! I hope our team votes to not go and save our bucks for the Winter Nationals in Phoenix!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Dave is playing tournament ball with the Mayhem 55s out of OKC now.

crusher, based on a pure numbers review, there were 44 teams in Houston this year and 46 teams in Dallas last year.

To the best of my recollection, Clatta swings only Worth bats. And Beasley is correct; Clatta could turn the bat upside down and swing the barrel and still hit them out!

Frankie, it sure is! I am leaving Reno today so Pam was home alone. No damage up in NW OKC in our neighborhood, but tornado warning sirens went off several times. Scary times but I will still be glad to get home!
