Softball Situation in Oregon
Can someone fill me in on the senior softball situation in Oregon? I am interested in league play and tournament play.

I am contemplating a move to the Eugene area by early 2014. I will be making a couple of trips to the area this summer and would like to make some contacts for next year while there. I will be eligible for 70's at that time, but still run pretty good and could play 65's if that was the only option.

I have played for Crackerbox out of Arkansas for the last 8 years, but will be playing with the Dallas Spurs 65's this year because Crackerbox moved to 70's.

I am interested in league play and tournament play.

TexasTransplant, I know there is quite a lot of senior softball interest in Medford. They have a beautiful softball complex and host a couple of senior softball tournaments each year. Don't know about the rest of Oregon, and our current northern California website is still being rebuilt, so I can't even get you a phone number for reference. The Oregon Road Runners club is southern Oregon, and Portland has some competitive teams, at least by their performance in Rock N' Reno each year. I'm sure you'll find some opportunities, despite western Oregon's reputation for lots of rain all year long.

You don't know what sucks mean until you've lived in Texas in summer. We don't weathermen here telling us, it going to 100 degrees for 83rd day in a row. If you live here, you'd throw away your Oregon Umbrella Collection........unless you need the shade...lol

Wife+daughters+grandkids > than my love of warm weather.

Raised two kids, saw them get excellent educations, and what do they do. Marry Yankees and migrate to Oregon. Go figure!

Check out the link and go through the rosters and contact team mgrs in your age bracket, if there. Or they may get you another way to get info. There is allso the assn in WA. I'm sure they would know about also.

http://ncssa.info/rosters/rosterFrame.php?year=2012

This is the original site link, but has not been kept up for about a year now because the politics within the assn after the web master passed on. New site is in same disaccord mess.

Call Ron Boley, Portland Parks and Recreation, head of softball at Delta Park Complex, 503 823-8566. He'll hook you up with who you need to contact. In Eugene, you've got 100 mi drive to play in Portland, or 180mi to play in Medford. There is some softball in Salem and Eugene, Ron will hook you up with the people. Tell him "the pizza man" sent you...................
Enjoy Oregon...

Thanks, Curveball. Good information. I'm sure I've done crazier things than drive 100 miles to play ball, but 100 miles for league ball might be a bit of a stretch.
