Playing in Qualifiers
I have a question I do not seem to get SSUSA to answer:
Do you have to "PLAY" in a qualifier or Regional to be able to play in the Phoenix Worlds? We have some guys that only want to go to Phoenix and CLAIM they can not play in any other tournament. Well this does not sit well with me, and somewhere i heard you can not just be on the roster you have to play at least 1 tournament.

Thanks in advance

I don't want to sound like a trouble maker, but has anyone ever seen a senior tournament where you if you had the money you couldn't get into it ? I have seen what were supose to be qualifers where major plus teams played AA or AAA teams because there wern't enough teams in any one division. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but money talks.

M/VET....I'm pretty sure...you have to be ON A ROSTER from a qualifer before you can play in Phoenix....U just can't show up in Phoenix.....

Just email Fran and ask her...she is really good about getting back to u..or...call her on the 916-326-5303...I'd do that !!!

Good luck

You need to be on a teams roster that played in a qualifier.
Problems arise when that team does not go, and you want to. Then your faced with age & division hangups.
You'll need to get that straightened out because I do not think just because your team is, say a 55's team, means you can play on another 55 team. Alot depends on the teams rankings and your age.
ASK the questions your self, and get it in writing. Things can change like the teams do. If you have it in writing you might help prevent a problem later on.

Well, I am sitting here looking at a rulebook (2006). First, 2.3(1) Teams That Need Not Qualify: 40+, 45+, 75+, 80+ teams do not have to qualify and may be invited to the SSWC, Major Division. I am guessing this is not what your team is. 2.3(5) Classifications of Competing Teams: There is no longer a category of "Non-Qualifying" team. All teams competing in a SSWC Qualifying Tournament are there either to 1)Qualify, 2)Re-qualify with a modified roster, or 3)play as an Exhibition Team. I thought at one time that you could qualify in any senior organization qualifier to get to a national. So if you lived in Denver and could only play in a SSWC tournament that you could go to the SPA nationals or the vice versa, but I have not found that in the rulebook at least yet. I will keep looking though.

Our team has already played in Lansing and we are going to Champaign & Elgin. My question is can an individual player not go to any of these tournys and still play in Phoenix even if he is on the roster. I am trying to force these guys to go to the other tournys.

I don't have alot of experience with this but my manager made sure everyone played in a qualifier so they could be submitted on a roster for Phoenix. It maybe the tournaments were in but there has to be a reason we check in before in the qualifying tournament is started. Seems like a lot of work to go through if you can turn anyone in on your roster.

Seems to me that only if you checked in at the tournament and then they checked you off with the roster that was turned in ,would you then be qualified. If you were on the roster and your team won a ring tournament, and you were not there, you would not recieve a ring,Teams could stack up rosters with "if "player's otherwise. I don't think you could qualify with a team to go to a tournament ,if you haven't played in the qualifying tournament with that team. The rules could prove me wrong ,if so, they need to be changed.
