A couple of people have asked already, and the school decided not build for a couple of more years; so Tim is leasing it and will have Midwest for another couple of years. Also he did buy the park in town which I like to call Midwest Metro. If anyone is interested there was an article about it in the Indy Star at
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007710190470. Also if you go under Multimedia on the Indy Star home page, there is a video about the park with Tim and some of the seniors.

Hey Nancy thanks for the opportunity to get the rest of the country in on our dilema. Ok seniors, of those that come to Indy to play: Is there anywhere else in the country, that players and fans have to pay a $3 fee to get into the park. not just once but each day. AND.....if you read the article in the IndyStar that Nancy mentioned, the young lady running the park called Senior Softball "The Goat Rodeo". I was somewhat offended by her comment and have a response for her that I will only share offline.

Corky, The Big League Dreams complexes charge $2 entry fees each day; however, part of that fee is redeemable for drinks in the snack bar. At least the facilities are great softball venues! We've played at the ones in League City, TX and Cathedral City, CA.

The other thing that I found in Indy and gave me a heads up with other tourns .......and that is the Indy softball organization gave you a list of host hotels that are with you packet but they failed to tell you that there is a 10% mark-up to each room, each day that goes to their club. It is expensive enough for traveling expenses, tourn. fees, etc. to also have to pay an increase for hotels. So I suggest that whomever is scheduling your rooms for away tourns., to check and see if there is a mark-up that goes to the TD or their organization.

CAT, I had never heard this about the host hotels; I will ask Tim about what he is passing out. Since I am local here, I would not have needed to get a hotel list. I do know that all tournament directors typically get a kick back from hotels which is why the SPA Nationals run four days instead of three. I do not get involved in the money making details, and neither our team or I get any money from the Midwest tournament. It does make me wonder if hotels do jack the prices up to give this money though. I know that I have been told this by hotels in Champaign though. I tend to spend more money on softball than I have ever made on it. Corky, I did not really get the goat rodeo comment either, but you and I can discuss that offline. I want to talk with Kim on that privately because I am sure that it was an innocent comment. This is her first year around senior softball as she has been very involved in the women's program here, and I have talked with her about trying to get a women's team to compete is the SSWC nationals. As for the $3.00, I know that private parks usually charge for entry. Metro was $2.50 before Tim bought it. In Phoenix this weekend, the players had to pay at Victory Lane (I think $2). For this reason SSWC only used it one day for the session that we participated in. I do know that in this part of the country that the private parks are usually nicer than the public ones, and here they draw the biggest number of players and tournaments. Of course the public parks usually do not have a mortgage, a full-time grounds crew, a good lighting system, a variety of food, or beer. I would say that the complex in Bridgeton for the ISA nationals was a very nice exception to that.
