Sept. 16 Hittman Men's 55 13 posts | It is a sad day today for the New Jersey Hitmen and for all of senior sfotball that I have to announce the passing of my good friend and teammate Homer Wimbush. Homer left us last night and will be pitching for the big team now. Homer has many friends around the country and I know his big booming laugh will be missed by all. Please say a prayer today for Homer and his family. Thank you. Jeff Hitt |

Sept. 16 Lecak Men's 60 1026 posts | My condolences to Homer's family, friends and teammates. Jeff a small story if I may about Homer, years ago I played with Homer in the Princeton, NJ over 40 league, me and several of my friends were added to Homer's team and we were playing the powerhouse team down there called Ivy Inn. At the time I fancied myself a homerun hitter and had heard about Homers legendary homerun prowess. Myself and another guy challenged Homer and a teammate of his choosing to see who could hit the most combined HR's in the game against Ivy Inn. The winner got to determine what the losing side had to do. We found a tent sized dress and had it ready in case we won the bet. We did barely and when we went to the cars after the game we told Homer since he lost he was going to have to play the next game in the dress. As you know when Homer got worked up his voice would get a little higher, he let us know what he thought of the idea and we had the biggest laugh. He was the best teammate. Man what a bad day, Homer was a great friend, great player, and always had a smile on his face. He was always the first to say hello and the last to say goodbye. They sure got a fun guy to play the game upstairs. My condolences to all of his family and team mates he will be missed. |

Sept. 16 Mac21 Men's 65 38 posts | As big as Homer was, his heart was that much bigger. He always took the time to ask about family and was genuinely interested in how they were doing. It's times like these we should remember...softball is just a game...the important things are the people we meet and the relationships we build while being involved. Homer was a "big Teddy Bear" who will be missed. My condolences to all his friends and family. |
Sept. 17 softballerK1 Men's 65 30 posts | Jeff, do you have any information on the funeral proceedings or contribution wishes of the family? |
Sept. 17 Z- 23 5 posts | We have been playing against HOMER for the last 7 years and guys like HOMER are the reason many of us enjoy the game as we do. It is nice to win, but it is the people we meet along the way that make the travel and expense of senior softball worth it and HOMER was one of those people. To HOMERS family and teammates, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Zello Davis/ TRI STATE MERCHANTS |
