| Jan. 17 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | senior,not sure it would,but if you drop a finger or two off the end,it gives you a little better grip.if you don't drop any fingers off the end i'm not sure if it helps any.i know this doesn't help ya any but thats all i can tell ya on this. |

| Jan. 18 Rip 20 posts | Yes you can do it without the cone but in my opinion its not even close to being as comfortable. With the cost for one being between $3 to $5 get one unless you're very frugal. |
| Jan. 18 Dirty Men's 50 1371 posts | I am sure people can be different, but I have been dropping two fingers for over 20 years and started interlocking a couple of years ago without any contraptions and no discomfort at all. My son played baseball into college dropping his pinky, and again no discomfort. Not a matter of money at all, it just isn't needed. |
| Jan. 18 mad dog Men's 65 4191 posts | so a cone is a gizzmo now,yeah right.i guess as usual dipty you have nothing good or useful to say,so you have to demean it.to me i use it and feel real comfortable with them,it gives me a better grip on the bat handle.i actually started building up with tape at the knob long before the knob cuff came out,guess that is a gimmick also. |

All I was doing was clarifying that it is not essential for altering the standard grip, and that it sure isn't a matter of money. Why so sensitive, sad puppy? That time of the month? And yes, that use of tape would be a gimmick too. Why are you always so insecure? |

A few years ago I switched to the Knobcuff because some associations do not allow you to taper the bat with tape, it is considered altering the bat. So it is easier to remove a knobcuff than it is to remove tape. I find the use of a tapered end to be more comfortable to me. It's just a personal preference. There are many players in MLB that taper the end of their bats, and I'm sure they would say the same thing. Whether you need it or not, is not the question. But, as a hitter, if you feel it helps you in any way, then that's all that matters. |

| Jan. 18 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Comfort. Fits very nicely between the palm and pinky finger when gripping the bat. They have 3 types I know of; the orig cone, then one a little longer with 2 groves or areas for fingers and another that is also longer but has a ring you attach to pinky the finger and then attach to bat so when you swing and release the bat it stays with you. It becomes a part of you in case their illegal where you play or so the theory goes. |

I was made to take a single layer of tape off my bat during a tourney game (in Canada) and it ruined the underlying grip beneath for the rest of the weekend. I will try this cone at the cages - I drop 1 finger now and would like it even higher. DH - #4 The Tub |
| Feb. 5 seniorsbfart 44 posts | After a few weeks with a the flared knob my hitting has improved. Seems to be more gentle on my hands. So how my hitting has gone from really bad to not-so-bad.... PS: This new Veteran bat has turned out to be a great bat and wondered if any of you guys have also hit one ? |

| Feb. 6 seniorsbfart 44 posts | As best I can tell the flared knob is legal in senior softball. Many of the players have them on their bats. Not sure about 'rolled' as I how that relates to the knob. I do remember a bat called the axe which had a axe handle and we started to use it at the Huntsman games but the ump told us it was not legal in senior softball. However the flare I put on my bat is more like a cone...guess it is one in the same. |
| Feb. 6 andy25 Men's 50 17 posts | Never understood why any of the softball organizations made the flared knob illegal. It certainly doesn't enhance or alter the performance of the bat. I hang two fingers off the end of the bat, I'm a top hand push hitter and it helps me eliminate some of the top spin. I don't use a cone but if it makes you feel more comfortable, why not, no harm, no foul. |
