June 8 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Broke my last 510 Lauch; used 2 since 07; have an Original ASA U2; but decided to add another Senior Bat; so I purchased a 30 oz Black Centenarian. Hit BP with it twice; about 60 balls total; hits about the same distance as my Demarini Dbl Wall 30 oz; that's around 300-305' with balls I got from Bill G of AMI back in 06. My Miken 585 outhits it; after ALL that jargon; does this model take a long time to break in? Tater50 |
June 8 ETDave 31 posts | Yes it will take a while to break in. After you start to see spiderweb cracks in the paint it will get hot. |
June 8 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Tater50 -- I got a black centenarian 30 oz balanced. LoveIT. Only use in tournaments, on 19th swing ball went about 340'. Bat is not broke in, no spiderwebs at all. Played 3 games 10 @bats today in SSUSA Texas chanpionship so have 37 swings on bat. Did not get air under any balls, 2 low linedrives carried to fence. If bat will go 500 strikes then this will last a LONG time and be an incredible bat. It does not make the loud cracking sound when you hit a ball hard like a Miken. And, I have used a Reebok in tournaments and league. For me the Combat outperforms the Reebok. Other guys like the Reebok. Hit the Centenarian hard, you should like it. C |
June 9 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Good feedback: I hit most of the balls on a line, so only a few got any air underneath. I had been thinking about the White Combat, but I do not like the smaller knob. My Original Veloes were like that; took about 4-500 swings & they were good to Launch. Will give an update ASAP. June 9 titanhd Men's 60 640 posts | Tater:The white Combat is available with the regular size knob too. |
June 9 Budda12 Men's 70 44 posts | Just bought the black centenarian 26 hope it is good how many swing to break in thanks |
June 10 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Alan: did not know it came in larger knobs. Is the white one endloaded? Tater50 |
June 10 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Tater50 , Scowl down a couple pages to White Centurion thread for some info that might help ya. |
June 10 tinman Men's 50 75 posts | I own 2 Black Centenarians and 2 White[34x26].I agree with all of the above. The Black will take a long time to break in and will be as lively as any other senior bat and has exceeded all of the Yellow MM I have owned in durability.I am currently using the White model in games with results that have made me put it on top of the list. |
June 12 Corky Men's 55 451 posts | Just bought a black Centenarian and noticed the 1.21 bpf label and compared it to my Miken Ultra Maxload and noticed the maxload had 1.20bpf..???? My Freak plus has 1.20bpf and its NSA leagal.......is my maxload?? |
June 12 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Corky - use my black C with 1.21 in SPA and SSUSA. Not sure about NSA, think they only allow balsa wood bats. |
June 12 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | NSA used the 1.21 standard but also has bats they don't allow I think are below it List is on site. Balls list you may not use: AD Starr Tattoo Composite (after 6.1.12) [NT1244PC] Anaconda (Trump) Trump "Evil" (after 6.1.12) [MP-EVIL-NSA-400Y] X Rock (after 6.1.12) [XRock - NSA - Y] Dudley Advance Thunder (after 6.1.12) [(4E-184Y) MLT 12 RF80] Wilson All Models [All Models] Worth Toxic [(after 6.1.12)] |
June 12 HJ Men's 70 481 posts | Corky, 1.21 is the "new" standard. A maxload at 1.20 is to the old standard which I think was hotter than the new 1.21 standard (they changed some of the parameters in the test so you cannot say a 1.21 is hotter than the old 1.20). Lots of technical stuff, physics, MOI, balance point and performance after broken in, etc., which I don't try to understand. |
June 13 Corky Men's 55 451 posts | Crusher...I umpire NSA and they have actually gone to senior bats to try to draw more seniors to their tournaments. The bats may not exceed the 1.21 bpf and they MUST use the 52/275 ball. I think ASA and USSA have also switched to using senior bats in the 50 and over only. It does give us more options when making up our tournament schedules. Might see some new faces. |
June 13 crusher Men's 75 524 posts | Corky, that is good news. Have not played NSA for a while, my team may play NSA later this year. |
Aug. 12 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Just TERRRRRRRRIIIBLEEE!!!! Can't afford these high priced bats anyway that have NO warranty; I did not even get 250 swings on this bat & got a 4" split. Problem was: I was not even swinging hard. I have an OLD U2 & a tank of a 585 & of course my 2 trusty Original Veloes. Economy the way it is: I will just have to use what I got. 250 swings; about $.75 a swing............Just Terrrrible!!! Tater50 You cannot fool the man in the mirror!!! |
Aug. 12 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Alan: thanks; I got to use this bat in 2 games; that's 8AB; that's $22 a swing.......!!!! I will use what I have; have to hit weights more I guess. Tater50 |
Aug. 13 Tater50 Men's 60 336 posts | Tri18: Black Centenarian; I had only used it in BP to get to the 200 breakinh swings in; then used it in 2 games; actually did not swing it 8 times; maybe 5-6. BP was with balls from 2006; they were on the soft side; were dry, never water logged; VERY DISAPPOINTED in this bat!!! Tater50 |
