Good luck to you and Turn Two this weekend. Congratulations again for your induction into HOF, well deserved. I would encourage as many players as possible to attend these events.

Discussion: Western NATIONALS or qualifier format???

John congratulations to Master Collision and the NorCal Reds for winning their class division in Aurora, Co. Both teams played very well and deserve the tournament championships. However this was not handled well and if I was the Kansas City Kids who played extremely well and deserved the opportunity to play Master Collision in the championship game for 60 Major Plus division I would be upset.
know we at GSF were very disappointed in not getting to play the very good Master Collision team.
Beautiful park, good umpiring, great competition and very enjoyable weekend with the exception of not being able to play all the other teams in our age brackets.
This format needs to be examined and corrected.

My condolences on the passing of Mr. Kehoe. I didn't know the man personally but he always fielded a class team in the Pace softball team which I know is direct reflection of his integrity.

Discussion: Hall of Fame Inductees

Enjoyed the HOF inductions in Dalton conducted by Ridge Hooks very impressive!! Ridge does a great job hosting the program and you can tell he loves doing it. Really appreciate all he does and his staff for the HOF. If you get a chance to watch an HOF induction it will be something you won’t forget.
It helps when you're newest members are first class people like Patti Mac and Ken Lipinski.
Ken is one of the pillars in this sport and I was very happy to see him get his recognition - way over due. It was very impressive to see all of the Mavericks on stage with him. I never had the opportunity to play for Ken but we sure have been involved in many great games with his Maverick team with the old Las Vegas Stars.

Patty Mac is one of the best players in Senior Softball and a great competitor. He is always been the guy you hated to see on the other team and loved to have him on your team. Inducted on his first round of eligibility is very impressive as well.

Ray Wimbough it was especially sweet to see you get the recognition you deserve as well and good luck with your induction in Manasses
Congratulations to Tom Tutor and Jessie Martinez great players and people!!

Discussion: Dalton results

A very competitive 60 Major Plus tourney in Dalton and amazing job with the fields and the tourney especially with the rain. Excellent job by Ridge and his staff!
Great to catch up with many players we don't get to see very much. Bruce as always pounding the ball what a sweet swing and Mobley Gin/Crystal Pharmacy is very strong club with lots of potential. If you can just keep Goose under control!
Jim and Joe's very proud of how you played in your first Major Plus National tourney. You all just wouldn't quit - great weekend. Hollis Appraisals had a tough weekend but we all know you will be back strong.
Turn Two eight straight SPA championships and if you watch them play you would know why. Tough hitters and defensive players all the way through the line up and a very competitive team and even more important a group of Winners class of the 60’s. Looking forward to getting another shot at them in Vegas.

Discussion: Moving to Major Plus

Gary19, I have no problem with your questioning different concepts of our game. I think you bring some diversity to how we look at everything but I do have a problem when you get everyone off of what the thread was about.
We started out with Webbie talking about moving up to Major Plus very good topic especially in how it applies to him. Instead we are writing about the same thing that has been discussed by you multiple times. That is one of the main reasons many people don't post very often or at all on the board including myself. That is a shame as many of these topics are excellent topics.
In this thread Webbie definitely should be or as he has proven can be playing Major Plus as could many other players playing at AAA and Major level. Swing for the Fences I don't believe I have met you but I have heard that you are very talented and good player at any level. I saw Joe Lecak playing AAA and thought what in the world is he doing playing AAA. He is an exceptional player as well. Bob I have played ball with you and you can play at any level and any team and be a tremendously asset.
I do understand the concept of playing with friends and I really understand and appreciate that concept. The bottom line is we are here to have fun and compete. Sorry for being so long winded.

Discussion: Las Vegas friendships

Great tourney and all games were close in Las Vegas in the 60 Major Plus. Congratulations to D&K for winning a very competitive tournament which is what Senior Softball is all about. Well deserved as all of you played great softball and you hit the heck out of the ball.

Master Collision deserves praise for having a very strong showing and giving D&K everything they could want. It was a pleasure playing against two teams that are very competitive and great gentlemen as well. Very impressive showing by both teams and I'm looking forward to playing both teams down the road.

Well run tournament in beautiful Las Vegas - Thank you LVSSA/SSUSA!!
Teams that didn't come missed a great environment. Great to see so many friends and fellow softball players....

I like the 70 ft base paths. I think it's safer and it helps as a overall equalizer. It takes away the automatic extra base that everyone gets. It involves defense's both infielders and outfielder's with the ability of making plays that they wouldn't be able to make on 65' base paths. I do agree it's tough going from one field at 65' to another field/complex where the bases are 70'.
I would like to see all fields go to the 70' bases.

Mel I was hoping to get to play in the ISA in Columbus but not sure that is going to happen. Hope to see you at one of the tournaments this year. I've moved to Scottsdale so if you get around town call me. Corky the tales we could tell and you are correct that we are lucky to be alive - good memories. Butch will always have the coffee with him. Nancy wish I could play in the Brickyard so many friends and fellow ballplayers I haven't seen for many years. Have a great tournament and hopefully it will stay dry for you.

I just spoke with him a couple of weeks ago and he didn't mention that he had quit smoking. I will have to give him a hard time, but I think I will wait a couple of weeks following Corky's advice. Mel you coming out to Reno this year?
Nancy good luck on the tournament and hope to see you around this year.

Discussion: Over Lap Hand Grip

I use the overhand grip and I have for over 10 years. I have found it to be great for power and base hitting even backside. It does take practice and perseverance to get comfortable with the grip. I would not recommend trying this in game situations until you're comfortable with the swing. Bogey uses the overhand grip and demonstrates it in his videos and he hits the ball a long ways. Swingmechanics.com was a great site and Todd did a very good job of describing the hitting process. I would highly recommend his videos. It's too bad that he is not as actively involved but I wish him the best.
