Add to the discussion, that Major+ teams generally carry their full complement of players (full roster) with no weak links and "show up" fully loaded.

Discussion: Team Names and Rating

D².. Since you brought it up, it appears a team can "ping-pong" back and forth between age categories, I see (get) that. But, do they have to pay a team registration fee for each age category?

Secondly, I noticed that on the ratings listing (page) that the team example you used, has disappeared (60 vs 55), whereas some teams are listed and shown in both age categories. I'm a bit confused.

Lastly, what becomes of the team history (tracking) with this back-n-forth movement? Is it combined or segregated by age?

Need help.. Based on above "will be out at 0-2" statement, referring specifically to the 6 team configuration, ZERO teams will be eliminated?

I asked, because using the Bullhead, Jan 20-21, Men's 50/55+ Platinum Division • 6 Teams, as an example, does not the loser of game 5 (if loser of game 1 is the same) AND/OR the loser of game 6 (if loser of game 2 is the same), get eliminated after 2 games and go home? TIA

D², did I read correctly in your last statement, that the end of the ratings' adjustments are not yet complete, and that additional re-rates will be forthcoming this week?

TY, for the well detailed response. Much appreciated.

The better response given, is that, to the color gray.... lol Thanks again.

Discussion: TOC WINNERS

D², since your mentioned "body of work", is every team reviewed at end of year for this "body of work" criteria? And if so, is there a weighting system (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishes vs. the number of teams entered)?

Why, you ask? .... I HATE the color, GRAY !! And yet, if GRAY is a warranted color, I can somewhat live with it, as long as it is consistent across the board....

At the TOC, 65+ AA, team Electrifiers (TX), did not play in round robin on Friday.

How is it that they were awarded a WIN, in the first bracket game and not placed in the elimination bracket immediately, as stated above {Rule 15.5}?

I'm really confused....

There were 12 members present and an alternate. Each topic received 11 votes (with some abstaining votes / yet the total was 12). Can it be disclosed which one of the 12 members' did not participate in the voting process?

Discussion: 2023 TOC Lakeland Fla.

Curious: The main tournaments page has a hyperlink to "currently qualified teams" for the TOC. And within that list, there is NO listing for {Bandits} in the 60+ Major listing or having won a TOC tournament. Yet, on the detailed tournament page for the TOC, 88 teams are referenced, of which the {Bandits} / 60 division, is one of them.

What am I missing?

Discussion: Hard Deadline Policy

In the Nov 1, 2022 post by Terry Hennessy, it was stated that...

" At the published deadline for a tournament, our Master Scheduler will establish the time and date of the “Hard Deadline.” That is the time the schedules will be drawn."

QUESTION:
(a) How does this "Hard Deadline" differ from the tournament entry deadline ?
(b) Is this an auxiliary/secondary date ?
(c) How/Where will this "Hard Deadline" be communicated/announced ?

Dbax, in review, very few of the past tourneys have the "official" RR and brackets filled in. As a substitute, we have been getting screenshots of the director's binder.

While this thread appears to address or focus on a player, can a "team" forego the RR games, take the 0-2 start, and begin "their" tournament from the last seed in bracket play?

Discussion: Courtesy Runner Rule Question

The rule as stated in the rule book...

8.5(1) • USING COURTESY RUNNERS
Any player on the roster and present may be a courtesy runner if listed on the official lineup. A courtesy runner may be used for a base runner at any time, but the same courtesy runner may not be used more than once per inning. Any courtesy runner found running more than once per inning will be called out. Any player on the team roster may be a courtesy runner; he does not have to be playing defense or in the batting order.

All players listed below are on the official lineup card.

1. Lou Gehrig– 1B
2. Rogers Hornsby– 2B
3. Mike Schmidt– 3B
4. Honus Wagner– SS
5. Johnny Bench– C
6. Ted Williams– LF
7. Willie Mays– CF
8. Babe Ruth– RF
9. Ty Cobb– LCF
10. Sandy Koufax– P
11. Barry Bonds - DH

a. Rickey Henderson
b. Lou Brock
c. Tim Raines
d. Vince Coleman

Now the question...

Could I set my lineup as above (10 fielders and 11 batters):
and only use (a), (b), (c) and (d) as courtesy runners for players 1 thru 11 ?

christom10 (et al) Would it then also seem to reason that the newly formed 50M could "technically" play as a 40AAA team, based on the Ratings Index Chart?

Also, using BALL4's question... How does the "promoted team", which "aged up" get ranked? It is certainly clear that when they move up, within their age group, but the Ranting Index Chart does not reflect an equivalent rank when aging up?

55Major to 55M+ is very clear, but what are they @ the 60 division? 60M++ ?

Discussion: Re-ratings at Vegas Worlds

D², Semantics question:

Using a 44-team bracket as the sample and reading the ruling “as stated” ….

One can interpret the ruling to mean, 43 “remaining teams” times the 20% factor, resulting in 8.6 teams getting bumped up. Does the champion get factored into 8.6 team total? Or is it 8.6, PLUS the champion?

Thanks for your cerebral moment…
