Discussion: We're simply amazed it's come to this...

SSUSSA staff thank-you for this intervention I hope some good comes from it.
I've just started posting recently and you can see I haven't been around for some time because of the negative banter.

Gary c

I grew up in SoCal (OC) I can say it's not the same as when I was a lot younger. There are thing I miss about not living there, But I live up north because its were I settled after getting out of the service. I've met great people and then not so great indidivuals in both areas, however I accord them the respect deserving any individual that I disagree or agree with. You truely don't have any respect for anyone or any thing. You continue to be angry at the world. I'll continue to enjoy life and move forward.

Joe
I hear you, but it is time to let it go.

MD
Continue to stir the pot.
Some like the ball some don't.
Funny thing is, Most might not know it, but once you and Joe were friends.
It is a shame it come to this.

Tait
I think you've hit the nail on the head.

I'm not taking any side, but maybe another vaction for the 3 would be in the best interest for the rest of us.

SSUSA Staff/ Dave I think there needs to be a correction in the 55+ division results? The AAA TOC went to ODB not J&J.

Fastsam got the photos Thank-You. Glad you & C made it home safely. Rest up we're at again this weekend at BLD. & there is a Wavier on line for the Miken bats.

Budda12 sorry to hear it ended that way, like it was memntioned something else must have happened, because SSUSA make it a point to recconize the finalist and present awards in a dignified manner. At least thats always been my expereince.

First I want to say to the SSUSA staff, "Well Done" the CC event didn't have the teams it has had in the past, but the venue was nice, weather hot, umpires were consistent. No parking fee was charged which was really great.
The balls were ok it seemed the younger teams were hitting them out more. I'm still not in favor of mixing division. It was a fun weekend and I was able to meet with some board member met at other events and a new one that joined our team. Congratulation on the all tourney Gary. It was a good weekend all in all.

For those that didn't know there is a $5. parking fee for the complex in Fresno. Nickel and dimed to death.
Carpool and save some money.
It isn't a SSUSA issue it a City of Fresno thing. just letting everyone know ahead of time.

Thank-you for making my point as to why this board has become the soap box for the myopic few. I know joe not (joey) As well as Maddog. I agree with some of their points of view, but not all This topic of NSCCA not being the best is heavily slanted to those of us in NorCal that choose to play the game at a high level and with equipment of each individuals choice. In NCSSA it's not about the individual, but about the program. Name calling demonstrates the a lack of understanding towards another point of view. If I was easily anger I'd take offense to your analogy (a spade is a spade) Joe's reference to Nazi's is also uncalled for as well as Gary's comments. Maybe a automatic block should be placed on individuals that do this. it would allow for other to express themselve without being singled out for not agreeing. It time for me to once again disappear like many other, so that you (gentlemen):} can prove thru you boast and vague threat who's right and the toughest webn'nite is.
Everyone else reading this see ya on the ball field. Don 5 we'll lol tonite.

Maddog I've read some of the recent post why so negative. You and Joe have a history. Let it rest.
Myself I love playing NCSSA it allows me to play close to home. Most in NorCal are aware I'm one of several that drive the furthest to tourneys, but 2 hours away is still close enough for me to sleep at home. I rather play team in Norcal in mixed divisions than in Nataional events where divisons should be defined. Many choose not to travel to SSUSA event for this reason. NorCal has a lot of competitive Championship teams, I've been lucky to be a member of a few. I like the baden fire balls and the no restrictions on bats. Eliminates the altered bat issue. I hate the 52 core ball in the heat. You said it best, players and teams are playing and thats the true point at our ages. The disagreemjent between you and Joe and some others is why I don't come on the site that much anymore. You guys need to agree to disagree and stay off each others threads as a respect to your other fellow board members. ijs

Discussion: And the ? is why?

Rating index doesn’t think it is a tool which promotes a level field of play.
I don't like the 11 player rule in the under 60 brackets ruins the game.
I agree there are too many Divison.
This would be my suggestion to solve the issue
40+ major & major+ no state boundaries
AAA state boundaries
50 Major-Major+ no state boundaries
AAA & AA state boundaries
55 Major-Major+ no state boundaries
AAA & AA state boundaries
60 Major & Major+ no state boundaries
combine divisions
AAA & AA state boundaries
65 Major & Major+ no state boundaries combine division
AAA-AA state boundaries
70 Major & Major+ combined both-
AAA- no state boundaries
AA state boundaries
If a team is winning then the rules for being moved up apply & would allow players available from teams that yearly disband to be picked up. Thus keeping the level of play competitive
I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I'd rather keep playing NCSSA in the backyard tourneys at a lesser fee in mixed divisions, versus playing in SSUSA national events with present entry fee in mixed divisions. I understand the money thing, but the integrity of the game also needs to be maintained in each division of play for national events. jmo

Discussion: And the ? is why?

After looking at the 55 mens bracket its a joke.
5 teams are AAA which is fine, but to put a 60 major, 55 major and a 50 AA in to make it a 8 team bracket, come on.
the 60 major team has a 55 major team I guessing they will combine & will load that roster up. The 55 major & 50 AA teams are stuck in limbo no other teams in that divison coming to play.

The 60 team show be combined with the 7 team 60 AAA division making it an 8 team bracket.

No problem with the 55 major or 50 AA team in the AAA bracket making it a 7 team bracket.

It would be understandable if teams were traveling from out of state to combine in this fashion.

No need to guess why everyone went to the SPA event or just declined to come.

If there isn't enough teams for a bracket then don't have the bracket. Return the entry fees. It's sad but keep the playing field honest and level. IJS

Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

I guess the word has been put out about the combining of divisions. I see in the 55 there are 5 AAA teams and one major team. This isn't a healthy trend. I've been on this board less and less due to what the senior division has become. I was talking with another ball player and stated that it was more fun to teach the kids the fundamentals of the baseball than to waste money to play anymore. It seem every tourney something happens leaving a bad taste in players desire to play. The majors were combined in the Western Regional’s in the AAA Championship game there was a 1 1/2 break between games, which in all the years I've played softball ball, had never happened. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm playing with a great Grp of guys out of the bay area I would most likely quit playing tourney ball & just play league. If the major & major + division are to remain competitive It would be in the best interest of the SS to forgo the boundary requirements so that teams could be formed to maintain that level of play. Bumping teams up or down isn't working presently. If a team gets bump up then coaches/manager tear team apart so they can play at a lower level. I would be wise to set a time frame for remaining at a level versus won / loss record in a certain number of tourneys. I will see how it goes in the Cal cup then make my choice for the future. We play this game because we enjoy it. But the joy/fun is being removed by certain coaches/manger and SS. jmo

I want to thank-you for being there for us this weekend. It was your first senior tourney and like you said your had a little rust to shake off and did so. Don't be so hard on yours self. You came through at the plate at the times we needed. You help us get to the Championship, from a 4th seed. We as a team didn't hit consistently to win it all & the Washington team knows it also. It will all come around. It was a pleasure being your teammate you have a positive attitude and fit well with us. When you have only 10 guys for the weekend a lot can go wrong. Thank-God no major injuries occured & everyone got home safely. Chk this link out for bats

It will let you know the differences of brands and what might suit you best.
Register yourself & handle
Then go into the bats for sell section and pick something you like. Talk to you next tourney.

I'd fly into Sacramento it would be about 20 minutes from the airport to each of those parks. Lots of rooms in Sac heading west to the fields.
55 AAA was at the Davis fields last year natual grass beautifully maintained.

The weather has been terrible all over the country.
Placing blame is a bad trend to set when the major contributing factor can't be control. I realize the weather was crap for this years tourney in Reno for both weekend sessions. SS staff do a great job & deserve Thanks for their efforts. But they have no control over the weather. I feel for those that traveled distances & weren't able to get their games in. I hope a positive resolve will result for you.
Would it possible to get the results of the first weekend & those during the week. Also the final standing with from last weekend.
Thank-You

Your right it was a competitve tourney for most teams. Water Connection is a new 55AAA team out of Fresno. They are very good team. With their power could be moved to majors if they win a SSUSA event.
Were you at this tourney?
