Major 40+ Brackets
Am I reading them right? You have us at 3 different parks throughout the weekend? Really?

Yes, really ... It's the only way it fits and those are the only facilities available ... Lorenzi is NOT available to anyone on Saturday and Sunday because of the "Pirate Festival", Doc Romeo is pretty full both days, Shadow Rock is not available Saturday and BLD is fully utilized (except for a single game slot Saturday night at 9:00 PM on Crosley) ... However, all Sunday Survivors are at BLD ... Good luck!

Hey hook we were stuck at shadow rock and hollywood park for all of the 50's tourney what a treat those places are, pretty much getto....

Just be thank full your not a shadow rock there is absolutely nothing to do out there, the snack bar is terrible. Hope your not a holloywood park either nothing there at all just a few water coolers and a porta potty LOL LOL. your So far north east at these two parks you have no time to go anywhere decent between games. We never had a chance to go to BLD and have an oppurtunity to buy bats or nice senior shirts or swag. I heard out at shadow rock as of 9am friday in the 50's tourney that all the nice senior vegas shirts where all gone, none were available to us at shadow or hollywood not even bats, how sad...

What can we expect for 695$ per team (484 teams = $336,380.00) WOWWWW!!!

That's hilarious, nick! ... But for the sake of accuracy in the first part of the math exercise, it's actually 543 paid teams (total of 546 entered, but we waive the entry fees for the three 85+ division teams because, well, they've earned it!), so the gross was $377,385 ... Now let's see how you do on the subtraction part of the math exercise ... It appears you must believe that ...

• Field rentals for 40+ diamonds on 12 sports complexes are FREE (Las Vegas has by far the most expensive field rental structure in the nation, and there is no 2nd place! ... Maybe the list starts again at 3rd or 4th place)
• Field preparation services are FREE
• Umpires and U.I.C.'s all work for FREE
• Tournament and Field Directors all work for FREE
• The 90+ cases of The Rock softballs are FREE
• All Awards from Wilson Trophy for the 37 Divisions are FREE
• Director and staff air transportation is FREE
• Director, staff and umpire hotels for two weeks are FREE
• All meeting rooms and A/V setups for the multiple manager and staff meetings were FREE
• The 22 Budget rental car fleet for two weeks is FREE
• The (only 8) Home Office staff personnel that puts the tournament together work for months for FREE
• FedEx Office services for thousands of dollars in printing and reproduction costs were all comped and FREE
• Over a thousand blocks of ice for the water coolers were FREE

Getting the picture, yet? ... But to give credit where credit is due, the first time I heard the above presentation was in 2007 by the late, great, Layla Bryant (Hall of Fame Director from SPA) in response to a player that made a comment very similar to yours ... I never forgot it, because it was so perfect!

Most everyone passes the multiplication part of the analysis, but they flunk miserably on the subtraction part ... You're not unique there! ... Again, simply hilarious!

That's too bad nickname. My whole thing is this:
We pay $700 to play in this tourney. All we ask is that there are good fields to play on, umpires that are consistent and know the rules, and world tournament conditions. Last year we were in the championship of the 40s Major+ and they did not have lights ready. We had conflicting directions from umpires and director. Some of the fields were not good with the safety bag.

With that being said, The Southwest Invite, has always ran smoothly. I don't think we've ever had an issue with that tournament and like playing in it.

Dave you forgot the 37 sets of Rings

I have been involved in rental at vegas before. Until you go there and see the prices you would be floored at the coat.
I checked on just one complex Arroya Grande for 2 days. Almost 3 thousand dollars Can you imagine about 18 complexes for 2 1/2 weeks. I have heard Big League is about twice what Arroya Grande is. Do they make money YOU BET THEY DO but with as many hours as the home office spends getting prepared for this event it they are not getting rich by no means

Garocket ... The City of Las Vegas field costs are $78.77 PER GAME ... For comparison purposes, BLD is a flat rate $45 per game, and BLD reduces the bill at the end for any "If" game not played ... Clark County and City of Henderson are slightly less than BLD ... As for the Champions rings, I left that off because it doesn't affect every team ... But based on 37 teams with an average of 16 players/manager rings each, the cost is just a shade under $60,000 ...
