Yes, mine took about 150 swings to open up. I'm hoping that means that it will last a loooooong time!

Gramps, I really haven't made my mind up yet. Although I have about 250 swings with it I still haven't hit it in a game. I plan to use it this weekend at the SPA Fall Nationals in Pensacola.
Last week I hit it in bp and wasn't really impressed. Later I was trying to figure it out and now blame it on the sorry bp balls that we were using.
I'll let you know after this weekend.

The Senior Gear bat I have 10" model is the hottest I have ever swung. It took about 150 swings for it to get use to me and me to it. I can say without reservation that i hit 3 balls between 380 and 400' this weekend. Only one of them was fair, but it is a great bat. Once you get past the yellow part. :-)

Not sure if I like my senior gear yet though lots of my team-mates like it. I find it's very quite. The gray Senior Combat is louder

NCI. I sucked against the Knights and my hits or lack thereof were not a true represetation of the bat's ability.

The Macenko Senior Combat has a definite break in period. You will think its broken in and it will just keep getting hotter as you swing it. Take lots of BP and you will be VERY surprised at what it will become. DO NOT judge this bat by its first 10 swings

This is a good bat don't give up on it. A couple of weeks ago I met up with Softballer and he pointed out there are 3 band in the barrel and as you break in the bat they began to be visible during the first 150- 200+ BPS. Mine is at the just visible point, ball explodes through the infield and I'm seeing more distance. The more I swing it the more I like. I love my grey combat. However the Senior Gear provides me more versatility at the plate. True test for the bat will be next week in Utah.

i just broke my gray el combat(i've had it for 1 1/2 yrs) :(:(:( i do have a red one and a gray bal left tho.the red has a loose end cap tho, hasn't come out yet but have to keep knocking it back in(comes out around a 1/8" or less).i haven't had this one a yr yet with maybe 150-200 max swings on it.i do like it tho,it has some good pop to it.guess i'll have to look into one when i get enough money to go get one.

Can someone explain a little more about the "Bands" that will be visable whe breaking in? Where on the bat would these be found ? When these are visable , how much more life could be expected out of the bat or does this have any effect at all ?

After close inspection of my bat I find 6 bands on one side, 5 on another and 0 on another. Can any one explain just what these bands indicate?

I hope that isn't a triangle now...lol

Also hope the "bands" are not anything like the Decker Jump bats that changed to a darker red in areas when getting really hot and just berfore they broke.
I wrote 3 reviews on that bat for decker as a tester and had they been more durable it would have been a decent bat. They had pop when red.

Ha ha, no, not a triangle. I just now took the plastic off the bat and it looks almost brand new even though it has 250 swings on it. I'm sure some may think that I don't rotate it after each swing, but I do.
