Aug. 7 zonk 55 posts | Great info Alan, thanks. Would like to add: distribute hits along the whole length of the hitting barrel. Constant pounding to a concentrated spot can cause weakness, especially in the break-in process. |
Aug. 7 zonk 55 posts | Just saw your rotation suggestion, sorry. |
Aug. 7 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | Wow, maybe the title of this thread should of read for those just starting out in softball or never used a composite bat. |
Aug. 7 zonk 55 posts | 5Tools: If this is shot at me, I have been playing SS since 1993. I have been using composite bats since 2001. I had a senior moment; and, skipped over Alan's suggestion of rotating the bat. If not meant for me, cool. Even if meant for me....cool. |

Aug. 9 southernson 280 posts | Alan, Are you bringing some bats to Jacksonville, FL this weekend, like a 28 balanced? Thanks... |
Aug. 9 miken44 90 posts | alan got the bat today liked the feel as soon as i opened it went out got 25 swings on it ball really jumps will take it out again sunday and hit it harder as i put more swings on it thanks for the fast delivery i will pass your number out to my teammates |
Aug. 9 cal50 Men's 50 328 posts | Alan, 2 of us put about 150 swings on the 28 oz. We were hitting on a baseball diamond using the classic M Reebok balls. Without a doubt it hits as far as the Reebok or Miken. Tomorrow we will be hitting and comparing the 3 bats. We hit to the opposite field with and it didn't seem like you could miss hit a ball. The sweet spot is bigger. Our 50 Caliber team will be hitting this weekend and I will have another review on distance and sweet spot after this weekend. |
Aug. 10 Paco13 424 posts | Quick Q? Those are lot of swings to open up especially for a senior bat. Wondering if it going to crack at 200 swings later, which in reality it is no differnce than the present senior bats already out there. I guess we have to wait and see. I need a new bat, but will wait to see how this one does, I like the whitE centenerian a lot, but lets see how long this one last after the initial 200 swings. Please keep posting. PR Ninja out JESUS TE AMA. |
Aug. 11 17Black Men's 60 414 posts | Just got my 28 ounce on front porch---THANKS Question (I am putting this on the board instead of calling direct) I ordered the end load. Bat seems really light (you talked me in 28 from 30) but it doesn't say end load anywhere on the bat??? How can you tell? Raining today so won't get any swings on it today. |
Aug. 11 leftyfalcon Men's 65 158 posts | All my combats have a fl at the end of the knub when endi loaded. |
Aug. 12 miken44 90 posts | took the ambush out thursday 1st 20 swings nice line drives next 3 out of 5 320 plus feet 44 core 375 took bat out sunday the ball was just jumping hit another 10 out with it the bat is hot out of the wrapper again alan thanks 28 oz end load |
Aug. 12 Qnine Men's 50 25 posts | Tri18 is this new Combat Ambush coming true weight .Cause some of those Centenerian was not . I swung two 28 oz fl but one was lighter then the other |
Aug. 12 garyheifner 651 posts | Not to dispell any of the above but: A guy on my team is a bat junkie. His pole barn wall has a line up of bats covered in dust that were suppose to be the next best thing. Is the above true or just salesmen hype to sell several thousand bats before the real word gets out???? |
Aug. 12 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Garyheifner, I just sent off a review to Allan on a 26 oz BA, and no he didn't ask for it. I however would definitely recommend the bat. I have done these for 3 companies and 4 bats some years ago. Did not do measurements or comparisons to other bats like back then. Test of time will tell the complete story. All I know is that for the balls I hit at the end, the bat is great. Everyone hits differently and with different power. Balls used were all used 44\375 balls. |
Aug. 12 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | Alan, any idea as to the amount of endload in the Ambush? |
Aug. 12 taits Men's 65 4548 posts | Bruce, Call him on that one. I do know the max is 1oz. Not sure if there are increments as well. |
Aug. 13 JamesLG 421 posts | I just received my new Ambush yesterday. It is great timing because both of my game ready U2's are cracked. Must have broke both at the Western Nationals. I now have one new and nearly bloke in Reebok balanced Melee, One old U2 in great shape and I know it has pop and the new Ambush. I will add my $.02 cents on performance comparisons after the Ambush is broke in. This comparison will come from a 180lb guy with what I have been told is pretty good bat speed. The Ambush does have a great feel and balance. Can't wait to take some cuts and see hot it hits. Thank You: James |
Aug. 15 miken44 90 posts | could very well be the hottest bat right out of the wrapper you will ever swing it has a very large sweet spot |
Aug. 15 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | I get the whole durability thing, but how much hotter do you guys need the bats to get? How many more rules do you want that bastardize the game just to massage your egos, and alleviate your apparent insecurites? |
Aug. 15 Gary33 149 posts | Venom being spewed on this page too! |
Aug. 15 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | Clearly you struggle with exactly what 'venom' is. |
Aug. 15 tater9 62 posts | Gary19, you mentioned that you choose a restaurant, clothing store, hardware store, plumber and so on to only patronize those who provide what you are looking for. With such disdain for the senior game why do you keep coming to this forum? You are looking for something that isn't here. You also mentioned that you hoped to improve the game and product enough so it becomes attractive to spend that kind of money to play tournaments again. 2082 posts later....how is that working out for you? Other than engaging in your First Amendment right of free speech your attempts are nothing more than an excercise in futility. Keep posting:) |
Aug. 15 Webbie25 Men's 70 2414 posts | It was so quiet for several days with good conversation. Only thing that change was Gary19 came back. Phooey! |
Aug. 15 Gary19 Men's 50 2609 posts | tater, (a) This is free. All of those others aren't. (b) Perhaps some change might come from it that will improve the product and make it more enticing. Expensive, very small brackets with courtesy runners for outfielders who can cover 1/4 of an outfield but can't run 65' and teams actually accepting gift runs just needs some improvement. And no, that has not worked well yet, but I just keep hoping my generation will find the pride to make the changes and improve the game. |
Aug. 15 swing for the fences Men's 50 1224 posts | Webbie, listening to a AAA player at best, knock the Senior game to the extent G19 has been a pathetic experience for many! Back to the Ambush, I will try one when somebody let's me try.... I'm a Demarini company man for this year! LOL |
Aug. 15 miken44 90 posts | swing if you try it you wil put your demarini down i also have a demarini one the blue one it does not compare to the ambush guys on my team are ordering them now |
Aug. 15 Beasley Men's 50 173 posts | @Swing - definately try it when you can, I think you'll really enjoy the bat. I think we all understand using a bat because you've made an agreement is the right thing to do. |
Aug. 22 Joey525i Men's 55 32 posts | The Ambush showed up at my door this morning. I just went through the break in tips, I have around 80 hits on it. Double header tomorrow..... Thank you Alan |
Aug. 23 5ToolsinOhio Men's 50 160 posts | I think if he goes 8 for 8 you should send him a sample of that Wintercrest stuff |
Aug. 23 Joey525i Men's 55 32 posts | Good day, 7 for 9, couple of pop-ups for outs, won both games. BTW the Wintercrest works well! |
Aug. 24 surf88 Men's 65 1000 posts | tri: Alan, just some feedback from my friend whom tested his new Ambush you sent to him. He told me he hit 200 times with the Ambush and it did not come close to the Reebok Melee in distance. Thought you might want to know. |
