There was a study done (I wish I had kept it) where they played 15 games with and without the 1 and 1 count and the total difference was 15 min. |

They carry 18-20 players with 5 or 6 players who just run. I noticed that the first time I played against them. Just about every batter in the lineup had a courtesy runner. |

I pitch the same (around the edges) with or without a mat. The thing with the mat I don't have to depend on an ump's judgement to call a strike on the edge of the plate Also with the mat it opens up the whole front edge of the plate for the pitcher. You throw a 6 footer which hits the front edge of the mat and there aren't many hitters that can hit that pitch. |

Good pitchers have movement on their ball and works the edges of the mat and stays away from the middle of the plate. Throwers are ones that can basically throw strikes down the middle of the plate. |

| Feb. 9, 2016 Fred S | Topic: Bats Discussion: ASA Bats The Ultra has been banned in ASA since a few months after it came out and that is why the first ones have the ASA stamp on them and the rest don't. If they are the 52's we have had very good results from the Miken Freak52. They now make a balanced and a end load one. Overall IMO most of the new bats for the 52's perform well and just depends on which one you feel comfortable with. You should be able to find 1 or 2 yr old new ones for $175-200. If they are using the 44's then you may want to stay away form the new stamp ASA bats. They perform very well but there is a question of durability with the thinner walls. I just got a Jeff Hall Legit HD52 with the extra .5 end load which shows good promise but haven't used it enough to judge it yet. |
