The late Jerry Jackson's wife, Amy, is the tournament director for this. I would suggest contacting her with your questions. I don't recall seeing her on this message board in the past. Her contact info is: Amy Jackson,

Hope to see you there. We are also 55AAA.

Discussion: Loss of a great softball director

The softball world has suffered a great loss. SSUSA and ISA director Jerry Jackson passed away yesterday at the age of 73. Jerry will be missed tremendously. My deepest sympathy to Jerry's wife, Amy, and family.

Discussion: Please, a story from anyone! Anything but Corona, Corona, Corona!

I was a hardcore baseball player who swore that I would never play slow pitch softball. At age 35 I changed my mind. I joined a 35+ team with some friends who had been playing for years. We went to a tourney near Minneapolis and I started at 3B. I had my tiny Ozzie Smith baseball glove and was wearing baggy reversible basketball shorts. First batter in first game hits a piss rocket one hopper at me. Ball hits my glove and disappears. I am hopping around looking for the ball and can't find it anywhere. Everyone thinks it is in my glove but it isn't. Our coach, who is playing right center is screaming "THROW THE FU%*ING BALL"!! Then the ball falls out of the leg of my shorts which had wrapped around the ball Everyone starting laughing their asses off. We proceeded to run rule that team. Welcome to slow pitch softball. LOL!

Discussion: Corona Virus (COVID-19) Part II

Capt Kirk, please recheck your facts and don't spread false information about such a serious subject. I work for a health department and I will tell you that Wood_1966 is exactly right in his above comment. The virus that is currently going around is not transmitted by animals. It is human to human. The false rumor that it can be transmitted by animals is unfortunately causing animal shelters to be overloaded by people panicking and trying to get rid of their pets.

After reading your post, I discovered that there are actually 5 teams playing in the 55AAA division in Knoxville that are rated as Major teams in SSUSA. Does ISSA rate teams differently?

Discussion: Cow Town Classic - Shawnee KS

Even though we didn't win at all, I thought the Shawnee tournament this past weekend was a fun time for our first tourney of the year. Tourney was well run and our 55AAA opponents were a bunch of great guys to play against. And it was the best weather we have ever had there other than the overnight rain that messed up the warning tracks for Sunday. Looking forward to next year.

I agree with nearly everything above but I would disagree that Gatorade and Powerade are better than Pedialyte for hydration although all do help with hydration. Pedialyte has nearly twice the sodium and less sugar. The sodium helps the body retain water and stay hydrated for longer. Pedialyte is also proven to help the body maintain its potassium level better which helps regulate blood pressure. The big difference that Gatorade and Powerade have over Pedialyte is more carbs which in turn provide more of an energy boost. Overall, each is beneficial and it may just come down to your preference in taste and cost. All good advice above.

In leagues I have played in, it is usually a minimum of current game plus the team's next game. More serious circumstances might result in rest of season, multiple seasons, or permanent expulsion.

Discussion: Loss of a great man

It is with great sadness that I learned today that our teammate, Chuck Burns, passed away this morning as a result of a massive heart attack. Chuck was a great player and friend and, more importantly, was a great human being. Condolences to Chuck's family and all who had the privilege to know him. RIP Chuck.

Discussion: Line drive hits base

Not just the strike mat, but it would still be a fair ball even if it hits foul territory before passing first or third base as long as it re-enters and settles in fair territory before passing first or third as long as it hasn't been touched by a person or object foreign to the natural ground while in foul territory.

Stick, one correction. Tammy Duckworth is a U.S. Representative from Illinois (not Kansas) who is running for Senate this year
