Discussion: 2015 Las Vegas World Championship

The 2015 World is scheduled for a three (3) day tournament for the 65+ teams, will the tournament format change? We were playing four (4) seed
games and then a double elimination format. Will the 65+ teams be playing two (2) seed games and then a minimum of three (3) bracketed games?
Also, SPA allows 65 AA and AAA teams to play with eleven (11) defensive, I think it is a good idea.

Phoenix or Fort Myers would seem to be an ideal location for TOC, alternate between locations. Instead having a winter world and a winter national qualifier, one year have TOC in Phoenix and the following year have TOC in Ft. Myers. Having the TOC in November would allow more TOC qualified teams to play.

A quick calculation with a +/- of 25 teams, I calculated
that they were 325 (2014) TOC qualified teams that were eligible to play in the Tournament of Champions.
Capt Kirk
Note: SSUSA has a 2014 list of teams who qualified for
TOC, but I was not able to find it on the website.

Mad Dog, there were 115 teams that played in TOC, but there more teams than that who had qualified for TOC.

How many teams qualified for TOC in 2014? There were 115 teams that played in TOC, what percentage of the total number of teams who qualified played in TOC? The last 2014 TOC qualifier was Las Vegas in Oct., that is a (4) months break before TOC. What about scheduling
the TOC before any next years qualifier be played (Winter Nationals and Winter World).

What is up with the stickum substance on the Dudley bats? I seem to be doing a lot of cleaning, does this substance improve performance, durability and? Cleaning it can be a pain, I usually use just soap and water but doesn't seem to
work real well. Super Dave told me it was just an old age
thing, OCB.

Discussion: Senior Softball League

Our Senior Softball League does not have a draft, each manager is responsible for putting a team together. We have tournament and
rec teams in the same division, we do use an equalizer rule. The equalizer
rule helps, but does not level the playing field, usually the same team (tournament teams) win the league. Any comments on how the draft works in
your senior softball league.

Discussion: Glove

I like using a 13" glove when playing SS or 2B, if I am playing 3B I sometime use a 14" glove. I like the Mizuno MVP model, they are easy to break-in. It always come
back to what are you most comfortable with. Some players
believe the bigger the glove the better, I have tried
to use a 15" glove on the INF, but it seems me that I didn't have the control that I like.

Men's 50 AAA teams: 62
Men's 50 AA Teams: 8
Men's 65 AAA Teams: 23
Men's 65 AA Teams: 19
I am not convinced that AA rated team (ratings are based on factors that determined by a team's ability to compete) are rec teams, that is verified by the number of 65'a AA that are competing in Vegas.

There is a 12-member Ratings Advisory Board that provides input to the National Ratings Committee for each rating cycle ... That Board is comprised of Managers and Tournament Directors from all regions of the country, including one from Texas ... The structure is already exactly as you proposed .
I would suggest that all SSUSA reps within their region be allowed to vote when a team appeals their rating.

The ratio of Mens' 50's AAA teams (60) to Mens' 50's AA teams (7), that ratio does not compute. SSUSA needs a ratings committee
that includes regional tournament directors and managers to rectify this.

Discussion: San Marcos,Tx

Labor Day Classic, San Marcos, TX, 65's. 70's, & 75's played on Thursday and Friday, 8-28 & 29. The rain came on Thursday evening, the late games
had to be cancelled, resumed on Friday. Overall the
tournament was ran well, we will be back next year.
Suggestion:
1) On Thursday only two (2) fields had games scheduled, add a third field to the rotation, make life much easier for us old guys, and for the TD.
2) Adhere to a seed game format, play all seed before playing bracketed games.
Our first game was seed game, 2nd game was a bracketed game, and our third game was a seed game.

Player/Manager has to be in the top three toughest
positions, trying to convince the wife to manage, some of the players believe that would be an improvement.

Discussion: AUSTIN TEXAS SENIOR SHOOT-OUT

Chris, you always put on a good tournament, the
Rattlers will be back. Our 65+ bracket had five (5) teams, one team with a 3-1 record, three (3) teams that were 2-2, and one (1) team that was 1-3, the games were competitive and good sportsmanship.
