ON MY HONOR 3
Never will understand anyone especially a grown man much less a senior ball player who already has the hottest bats made would want to shorten the life of his bat for EVEN MORE POWER. Whats up with that???? By our age you should be over the testosterone yrs. THEY ARE HOT ENOUGH, WHY???????? Makes no sense to me. And to put youself at legal risk muck less thinking about hurting someone with a altered bat. WOW to think what some people do for 20ft on a hit.

I WILL NEVER USE OR CONDONE THE USE OF ANY KIND OF ALTERED BAT!!!!!

Ditto! Don't think I would risk it under any circumstances. As a player, an umpire and a director, my life would be over!

'We don't need no stinkin' shaved or illegal bats'.
I will never understand the need some guys feel to cheat. I could not live with myself if I hurt someone badly-or worse-with an illegal bat.

Anyone using shaved bats in senior ball must have some screws loose. I could not live with myself doing something so stupid.

saddlebrookrick: It is amazing that guys will play w/someone who is a known cheater; I WOULD WALK OUT OF A NATIONAL TOURNEY IF A KNOWN CHEATER DOES NOT PUT HIS BAT UP!!!! It makes you wonder "if birds of a feather are not flocking together"???

I do not have a lot of things, but I will keep my honor.

Way to go GaCMan.............

A bat cheater in senior ball should be banned for at least 5 years without exception. a few years back I knew of a few guys who used altered bats but they have faded away. We certainly don't need them and to purposly make the lifespan of a U2 shorter is not too smart.

Thanks:

Amen to this thread. One reason I started playing Senior ball is I got fed up with the shaved bats in the kids division.. Now all of us get to use bats that are hot. Now it's a level playing field and the cheaters can't get over anymore.

Good thread,

I can't say that i've ever played with or against anyone using a shaved bat. Not something i would know unless it was brought up by someone else. But i will tell you this, i play third base and the ball comes pretty quick, i have the bumps and black & blue marks from the last tournament to prove it. If someone was caught in a game that i played in i would like the chance to put that person at third with no glove and let me take 10 or 15 swings with the shaved bat and let them see what it feels like. Then you can suspend them for 5 years. Anyway, never will play with someone that has to cheat to win.

I play golf and these are the same guys that use foot wedges, find their lost ball when nobody else can, etc. Guys like this have probably always cheated. Thing is, the only person they are fooling is them. They can't really have any satisfaction in what they accomplish. Basically they just plain suck and would probably scream the loudest if it was done to them..

It is hard to understand since seniors already have a form of legalized shaving.

GaCMan, good post but it seems to me that you know who is doing it, so why don't you say who it so we all know and even more than that why didn't you notified the AD of the tourney or the league. Perhaps he is on your team and you are benefiting for his added 20, just saying.

PACO, i have never known anyone who has done this. If a team mate of mine used a illegal bat and I knew it he would no longer be on my team!! This is not the first time this topic has been on here, I just happened to restart it. I do not understand the mentality of someone who would alter a senior bat, they are hot enough and they don't last long enough as it is. And you are right JESUS DOES.

Real simple, caught with shaved or altered bat LIFETIME ban from senior softballfor the person using the bat. With the communication between associations that should include SPA, ISA and so on. I overheard some really good 50s guys talking at a tourney whether they were going to use the regular or shaved bats the next day. I wouldn't know how to really spot one. It did seem rather strange in one of our championship bracket tourney games, the opponents had all U2s in the dugout and almost the entire team used the same bat?????

Paco13: "GaCMan, good post but it seems to me that you know who is doing it".

I know GaCMan well: in NO way would he cheat or allow anyone on his team to cheat; so I can reaffirm that he has no one on his team that cheats & we played together last year & there was no one that cheated on that team.

I do not bet, but that is one bet I would make.

I satnd corrected...is that people usually talks about what they know to be a fact. Personally I can't believe that any senior would shave a senior bat...but I guess some of you guys believe it. Sorry, GaCMan no intentions to offend you. Have a beautiful day.

It is a sad commentary that some people feel the need to get an unfair advantage....I agree that a lifetime ban should be used!!!!!

you all know there are guys that use illegal bats but dont worry they always get caught when you hit the ball over the fence thats one thing but if you hit it over 200' over the fence then you might check (unless its in vegas) thos balls fly

There have been times that I have thought someone was using an altered bat. That said, there was not one thing I could do about it. I have yet to see someone challenged or have a bat tested. I have seen a person told they were using a banned bat. Not common but it happened. In my conversations with umps and TOCs they even alluded to the fact that they suspect but don't check. In all of your honored opinions what should the ruling counsels do?
