I really find these answers frustrating. A guy asks a simple question and SSUSA has to come back with smart ass answers, threats to bump his team and then the idiotic rooster comparison. This happens all the time when customers ask SSUSA questions. This is the point of a message board, to get questions answered, to reach out to other players to get input, and God forbid, to get scores from other events. I am sure the usual SSUSA apologists will come on here and blow me up, that's fine. And you know who I am talking about, the ones that ask "why do you need to know scores from Worlds?". Just seems like simple questions/concerns deserve simple answers. I am not an anonymous poster. Jim Perry

Discussion: Results

Nope, it doesn't bother anyone. We are old and just happy to have a place to play and have no interest in any results. Especially big ones, like Worlds. Actually, scroll through the previous discussions and it is a huge topic among players, and a constant frustration. Someone will start the thread, numerous 'customers' will support the need for real time score tracking (or close to real time) and then someone will come on and say "why do you need to know scores?", or try to defend SSUSA for not putting out even close to timely results and the thread will eventually die off until the next person starts a whole new thread asking for the same thing. Oh, and at some point SSUSA will enter the fray explaining how busy they are putting together the next event and the scores will be coming. At that point the person who started the thread will explain that they are happy to have a place to play and understands how busy SSUSA is. Enjoy Gerdy. Also, this is not an anonymous post, I am Jim Perry, I play 55s out of Washington State and wear number 19. Happy Holidays to all.

Discussion: Any results yet for the 50 major?

But in the post above, that was contributed to Tim Millette on another website, he states he is 58. On the SSUSA Staff's most recent post it says 'team aged up to 60s, and all its members had their rating adjusted to 60 major plus'. Wouldn't he be 55 Major plus based on his stated age? I guess it doesn't matter, its not going to change anything. Just cant understand why this stuff seems to happen at Worlds, it seems like that event, more than any other, there should no doubt about the integrity of rosters and teams. I also wish SSUSA didn't do things like 5-3+1=3. That is so condescending to the players (customers) that spent good money, took time off work, worked their asses off all year to go to Vegas and have concerns about alleged violations and questions about how someone got moved down after 1 event. Why not just answer it and move on? Anyway, happy off season to all.

Discussion: POSTING ALL SCORES IN 2017

#19, I saw that, and it only took 2 and 3 weeks for the 2 National Championship tournaments to get scores and results. I was looking at the ISSA website on Monday and they had scores from games that were played the previous day. And they weren't a phone picture of a handwritten bracket. I love SSUSA and have full respect for the folks that run it, but the fact that we the players beg, literally beg, for a better way to see results and it seems like it falls on deaf ears. It does not help that everytime someone asks about this subject some random player posts 'why do you need to know the scores?' Answer, We need to know the scores because we want to know the scores. Fact, scores and results should be updated in almost real time. That cannot be debated. Every other association does it, we don't. If you are not frustrated by this, then wait until Worlds and you play your two games, have to drive to a chosen complex and wait to find out your seed and next game time as paper results are poured over and a bracket is put together. This should be automated and everyone knows it. On the flip side, there is no place I would rather be then on the field, or in the dugout, or taking BP with my teammates and squeezing out every last second of joy I get from playing this game. I appreciate that SSUSA has given me this extension of my career, and I will always be grateful for that. However, it is time to get with the times.

Why aren't the Eastern National Championship scores from this TOC qualifying event posted yet? This event finished 2 weeks ago.

KJ, I apologize for not putting a smiley face after my comment, I was joking. SportsmanShop took it as a joke, and I hope over time you are able to also. Am I fast? Nope. Can I hit 800? Nope. Do I have a strong arm? Nope. Could I run the fast man competition? I can barely spell it. SportsmanShop, I hope you were able to find a team for this season, I wish you a healthy season. No offense intended. Honestly, I think I am just jealous.

Apologies, rolling a bat, not shaving. My mistake, but still cheating.

Discussion: bat rolling

Wow, I have read this a few times and want to make sure I am reading this correctly. A guy witnessed a pitcher getting blown up in the face ("one of the most awful things I have seen in my years of softball") and then tried to justify shaving a senior bat by saying it is only for league? Has anyone ever brought their buddy from work to fill in on league because you were short guys? You know, the guy in jeans who hasn't played ball since church coed 15 years ago, but he's a good guy and owns a glove? And now that guy is facing a batter who is swinging a cheater? At least most of us 'elitist' tournament players have a chance of defending ourselves. And don't anyone come on here and ask if I am justifying using a cheater in tourneys. I am not. I have been blown up by a legit senior bat and have the scar and doctor bill to prove it. I am simply making a point about how asinine it is to use 'it's league only' and 'I am really skinny' as excuses for cheating in a game played by men around 50 years old and the pitcher throws the ball to you underhand, with an arc and tries to land it on a mat. Now add in how watered down league play can be and you have nothing but a gutless cheater. That league must be really fun to umpire.

Discussion: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RULING • WMC 50-Major Matter

Two quick things: Crusher23's disclaimer is one of the funniest things I have ever read on this board. Also, Slap hitter, when I put my post up yesterday about taking shots at a guy that can't defend himself I was overlooking what you pointed out about your reputation being brought into question, and you are right that it is easier to take the "high road" when not personally involved with the situation. I am sorry for overlooking that. I hope all of you have a good holiday season with your families, and a healthy 2016 season.

I think if you are going to ban Tim from defending himself then you should delete the posts that are taking shots at Tim. He was trying to bring everyone's attention to what a lot of us think is a problem with the system. Yes, he went overboard. Yes, he needs spellcheck and lots of work on grammar. He was trying to make a point for the benefit of the game that we love, not how I would have done it, but that's the route he chose. In my opinion, SSUSA is not going to ban shots at him, in fact by not stopping it, they are encouraging it, which is wrong. How about if all of us over 50 year old softball players just let it run it course, see if rules get changed but stop taking shots at a guy that can't defend himself.

Discussion: Worlds 50AAA

Great event, wish we would have done better. All of our games went on time, had good umpiring and excellent competition. Hats off to everyone that put this event together. Couple gripes (and I fully expect the standard response of how many hours everyone works and what is important) The Mens 50AAA, the biggest classification in the entire event (and I would assume biggest money maker) still has no updates on how the games went. It has been 9 full days since the event ended. Yes, we can see top 4 finishers. But it would be really cool to log on and walk through the brackets, see how other teams did before we forget we were even there. Personally, I dont remember what I had for breakfast. I know this is a constant force of frustration for those of us that play Senior softball and it probably won't change in the near future, but it should. Also, piggy backing on another thread about Shadowrock. Those lights are awful and they are unsafe. Games should not be played there at night, at any age level. Senior Softball, thanks for everything you do for us and thanks for giving us a place to vent our frustration.

Discussion: Illinois 50 AAA looking for 2 for Vegas Worlds

Tiger, excellent advice, thank you. We had always wondered about getting better players but just couldn't put two and two together. I appreciate the input and will pass it on. I was asking a simple question because players are always on this site wanting to pick up for Worlds,I was just trying to see how it works. We had issues trying to pick up a player for Sacramento last year due to injuries and were denied. So, repeat, just asking a question. Coach7, I did not mean to cause you any issues, I apologize if it came across that way. Good luck at Worlds.

Wow, SSUSA thanks for answering so quickly. Your answer is disappointing however, that was our excuse for doing so poorly at Worlds in Vegas.

Not trying to cause problems, I just want to know. How can a AAA team pick up a major player for worlds? Aren't rosters frozen at some point? And how do you take players to AAA worlds that are from a Major roster? I think I am starting to understand how we do well all year and then get our asses handed to us at Worlds.

We went 3-0 Saturday (played Idaho twice and Credicor), I did not play Sunday due to a family commitment but the guys went 2-0 against Calgary and Idaho again (I think). It was pretty cool getting to play different teams, not the usual Premier, Calhouns, Kitsap etc. But I am tired of those Idaho guys :) Good guys, good team. I hear what you're saying about having to play same team over and over. Something to keep in mind for next year. I did like that we had 7 50 AAAs in our bracket. Hell, we only had 11 in Sacramento.
